Chapter 10

The rest of the day went by smoothly. No more bumped shoulders, by the boys. It could only be me, but I missed how I would wake up every day to get ready for school and sit in a classroom with all the other students. From a lonely cell room to a crowded classroom with a board and some hang their posters, this was a plot twist in my life. I wasn’t happy by any means. But the dark cloud that hung over my head when I woke up had began to lift, slowly emotions started to fill my body. I could feel again.
The bell rang signalling the end of the second day. Students quickly bustled out of classrooms, slowly flooding the hallways until it got crowded. As I exited the classroom I grabbed a hold of Taylors arm.
“Listen, I am sorry I’ve been such a bitch today.” I apologized.
“It’s no biggie. We have bad days. Me included.” She winked.
“Got to run, cheer practise.” She said dashing further into the school building. For a moment I envied her. She seemed to have life figured out. Sighing I shook the thoughts from my mind. There was no need for me to dwell on such things.
I finally escaped from the crowded halls and I could finally breathe in fresh air rather than the sweaty bodies of pre-pubescent teens. The walk home was around twenty minutes, with no coat it was going to be a long and cold walk. I thought about running then thought better of that idea. I mean I’d be home quicker than I’d like, and I knew that I’d have hell to pay. I’d not done any of my chores that morning, breakfast, washing machine nor take out the trash. To say I regretted my earlier decisions was an understatement.
A white cloth was slammed to my face, covering my nose and mouth and a man’s body-hugged me close, his arms locking my neck to keep me from moving my head. I tried to scream but the cloth blocked me from doing so. I took in a deep breath and my head began to spin. A few seconds later I could feel sleep dragging me under. I tried to fight it. To stay awake but it was no use. I passed out.
…
I woke up to voices talking around me. As I slowly blinked my eyes to consciousness, I still saw black and before I could panic, I realised that it was a blindfold keeping me from seeing anything. I tried to move my arms, but they were tied up behind my back and my feet were tied together as well. I could feel the panic rising in me as I tried to hyperventilate, catching the voices’ attention. Not again. For fuck’s sake what is wrong with these people?
“She’s finally awake,” an unfamiliar voice spoke out.
“Did you sleep well, sleeping beauty?” Another one asked.
“W-Where am I? Who are you, people??” I yelled out angrily. They only laughed.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Another one replied with a deep chuckle.
“Where are you taking me?” I pleaded as I felt tears pricking my eyes. A million thoughts surrounded my head, wondering what time it was, how long I was passed out if Uncle Robert and Aunt Peggy were wondering where I was. What punishment would Uncle Robert have install for me this time?
“We’ll try not to kill you don’t worry.”
The familiar, deep voice sent a chill down my spine, and now only did I realise that it was Kingsley, and from the sounds of it he was seated just next to me.
“You!” I yelled out. “What the fuck are you going to do to me, you freak?!”
“Oh, she’s feisty!” A boy exclaimed with a laugh.
“I told you guys,” Kingsley replied, the mocking tone in his voice only made my blood boil.
“My uncle is the fucking sheriff and if he knows about this you guys are going to be fucking ruined!” I threatened. Silence filled the air before they all broke out into fits of deep laughter.
“We know, sweetheart. We even knew the week before your family moved into this town, that he was goanna be Sheriff.” A boy replied and I frowned.
“How…?”
“We’re the Fab Four, Lilith Archfiend. And there’s nothing that we don’t know about in this town.” Kingsley whispered in my ear, and I felt goosebumps form on my skin as his hot breath tickled my ear. I sucked in a breath. My stupid body. Here I was being kidnapped again and my body was betraying me.
The car came to a halt, and I heard the men shuffling around until a car door opened and I felt the cool air from outside. Kingsley pushed me out of the car and before I could fall to the ground, a pair of strong arms caught me and kept me steady.
“Be careful, Davis.” The man scolded.
“That’s for humiliating me out there in front of the school.” Kingsley snapped at me.
“Yeah? Well, you deserved it, asshole.” I snapped back earning a few snickers from the other boys. Despite my feisty and angry attitude, my heart was going at about a million beats per minute and my legs felt like they were going to give out anytime soon. We all walked in silence, one boy dragging me by the arms while a hand rested at the small of my back, slightly pushing me to keep going. After what seemed like a long walk, we finally stopped, and I felt the ties being loosened around my wrists and ankles.
“You can take off your blindfold now, princess,” Kingsley said. I angrily ripped the blindfold off and I couldn’t help but look around me.
We were near a cliff surrounded by tall trees, and I could hear the waves crashing against the boulder’s underneath us. Looking over by the woods, I saw how dark it was and my mind went over the stories Taylor told me that half of the bodies being reported weren’t recovered yet. I suddenly felt nauseous and even more frightened. What if these boys were the serial killers? Err yeah that could be a possibility after all they did kidnap me yesterday and try to burn me alive. Here I am again, kidnapped and awaiting whatever they had decided to do to me now. Shit I was in trouble.
I looked at the four boys who kidnapped me. Bryce Stevens, he had a resemblance with Taylor, I didn’t realize it yesterday. A shame he didn’t have the same personality. The boy they called Carter looked amused, a slight smile on his lips and a twinkle in his insanely blue eyes. The other one Eliyah they called him looked curious, like he was study me. Kingsley Davis was smirking at me and eyeing me with his golden eyes that seemed to mock me.
“W-Why are we here?” I asked, the fright prominent in my voice.
“You’re going to jump.” Bryce replied so simply as if it was the easiest thing to do. I frowned, looking over at the cliff and the strong waves crashing below as if it could swallow me whole and I would be gone forever.
So that’s what they had planned for me. To jump to my death? Leave no evidence of foul play. Suicide that’s what it would look like. I gulped. These boys really were crazy and lucky me I had to piss them off.
“Then I’ll die,” I replied.
“No, you won’t,” Carter said. “Come on, it’s really easy.” He gave me a big toothy grin like I was going to believe how easy it was. “After all you did burn down a good section of the woods to escape” he winked, and my stomach dropped.
“That was you guys and why do you want me to jump??” I asked, tears pricking my eyes again as I feared for my life. I had no idea what these boys thought of me, but if I jumped off that cliff and let myself get pulled down by the current, I’d be dead in seconds. I couldn’t swim. I’d be like a brick and just sink to the bottom. Maybe they thought I was a threat. One they needed to get rid of.
“Because,” Kingsley spoke up, taking a step toward me until he was a few inches from my face. His eyes looked so gorgeous and so gold; if we were in a whole different situation, I think I would have gotten lost so easily in them. “You humiliated me in front of the everyone, I can’t have that, and I won’t.”
I shook my head as I looked down, crying. “I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t think you would take it seriously! God, you’re such a kid, Kingsley!” I would never have dreamed that standing up to this guy would lead to here and now.
As I looked back up at him with red eyes and wet cheeks, I saw his face soften and for a split second, he looked as if he regretted something, his gold eyes looked at my crying face with pity and conscience. But just as quickly as it happened, his features hardened again before he looked away and stepped back, his eyes not meeting mine.
“Push her.” He said in a harsh voice, void of all emotion.
