Chapter 55
They did it. I didn’t actually think they’d be able to pull it off. The most I was hoping for was to unnerve the King of hell and is offspring. But they had actually managed to take Lily from them. I sat in the bedroom of the cabin in shock and disbelief. I had my daughter now in my grasp. Away from Lucifer. But what did I say to her? Could I even love another? After all my heart is dead. Either way I had to get the girl to trust me. All our lives depended upon that. I need to protect her. Mentally I sent a message to Vito. “Take her to the safe house ASAP. We can’t stay here for long.” Lucifer would have his army out looking for her in full force. We had to move and quickly.

“Heal her, Ella.” Vito told the girl as he carried me to the only bed that was inside the cabin. The mattress was thin and some of the cotton inside had been removed, like it has been ransacked by a cat. A small pillow lay on top and as Vito settled me down, dust particles flew around showing that this bed hasn’t been used for weeks or months. But I was too weak to complain. Feeling something soft underneath, me tempted me to sleep, but I knew that if I did, there was a slight chance that I won’t be able to wake up again.
I watched with hooded eyes as the girl neared me, her thin lips pale and dry and I couldn’t help the frown that etched across my face. I wanted to reach out to her, and so I mustered all the strength that I had left and lifted my hand, trying to reach her face. She gently held my hand and squeezed it reassuringly. She then gave me a small, soft smile.
“Stay still, madam,” she whispered to me as she gently put my hand back down. “I won’t hurt you. I’m here to heal you.”
“Can’t demons heal themselves?” one of the female vampires asked aloud as the five of them stared at Ella and I.
“They can. But she’s only been with Lucifer for a year. The devil couldn’t even teach his daughter some basics before he introduced her to hell.” Kaleb replied.
“Lucifer is stupid and ignorant.” Vito said aloud. “He did not think that creatures like us who he thinks are below him won’t try to overpower him.”
“I heard that the most powerful coven came to a small town where Lucifer’s daughter lived and tried to take her,” Klaus said with a small smirk playing on his lips. “But they failed, obviously.”
“You think the werewolves came to them as well?” Beatrix asked.
As Ella hovered her dirt-covered hands over the blood-stained cloth where the wounds were, I couldn’t help the sudden racing of my heart knowing that werewolves existed as well. It was like I was living in a Twilight Saga novel; of course, werewolves would exist too! They always existed if vampires were in the picture! How couldn’t I have thought of that sooner??
“Hold still, madam.” Ella whispered to me which snapped me out of my thoughts. I smiled up at her weakly.
“Just call me Lilly.”
She smiled at me shyly. I watched as she closed her eyes and pressed her hands against my chest, the force igniting the pain and I winced. But I trusted her. The pain slowly dissipated and was soon replaced by the familiar tingling sensation I felt whenever magic was about to touch me.
It felt warm against my chest as I could feel my body healing itself, the wounds closing and the blood circulating in me again rather than bleeding out of my body. I found myself sighing in relief as a new wave of strength washed over me, making me more awake and alert.
Ella then removed her hands from my chest, and I slowly sat up, pulling my shirt up and saw that the nail-sized holes that were there were long gone, as if they never existed in the first place. The only trace of evidence that I had those wounds was the huge patch of wet blood on my top.
“Thank you,” I breathed out as I looked up at Ella. “I feel so much better now.”
Ella nodded with a smile. “You’re welcome, Lilly.”
“Come, let’s get moving.” Vito announced upon seeing that Ella has finished healing me. “We can’t stay here for longer.”
“Where are you taking me?” I demanded as I pulled myself up against the headboard, trying to stay away from him as much as possible.
