Chapter 54
I couldn’t help it. As soon as I stood in front of my best friends since we were toddlers a flood gate opened, and I dropped to my knees. My un-beating heart felt like it was going to burst with pain and regret. I sobbed, like a child. No one said anything for a long time. All stood looking at me sorrowful eyes.
“I am sorry.” I finally said.
“Eliyah, its ok. It wasn’t you….” Taylor began and started to walk towards me.
“No stay back!!” I yelled. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt her the way I did Victoria.
I flashed them my teeth and all of them jumped back in surprise. Bryce and Kingsley quickly got into a fighting stance while Taylors eyes glistened with unshed tears. I wanted to pull her close and tell her that everything would be okay. I just didn’t trust myself.
“Man, you got ugly overnight. I mean you were no god beforehand but wow man.” Carter said waving his hand around and giving me a once over with his eyes.
“What happened?” Bryce asked pulling Taylor further away from me.
“After we rid Robert well the devil rid Robert of the evil inside him it transferred to me.” I rubbed my hand over my forehead and sighed. Its time to tell them everything I know. First, I had to tell them what had happened to me.
“The devil used me. like a puppet he made me kill. Make sacrifices ready for the full moon.” Scratching my head, I let out a long breath. It was harder to explain than I first thought.
“Okay, so Lucifer needs Lily. He’s trapped in hell. Yes, he can visit earth but only part of him can. His soul. His body is still in hell. Lilly has the power to open hells gates and let Lucifer free. She can bring hell to earth. But she can only do it on the full moon of her eighteenth birthday when her powers will be at full bloom.”
“Great. Lilly is goanna bring dear old dad home.” Cater muttered and I ignored him.
“The more blood spilled on the mouth of hell which is the clearing the stronger the magic will be come the full moon. I did what he wanted but then he wanted more. He wanted me to bring out Lily’s demon side. I had no idea how to do that. So, I tracked down Lilith. Your dad had her held in the cells Kingsley. I got too close, and she bit me and drank my blood. She’s a vampire. When I woke up, she was gone, and I was so hungry. I am sorry but I erm I killed Victoria.”
Closing my eyes, I opened them slowly to see their reactions.
“Man, you piled up a bunch of bodies and you’re afraid of what we think about one snubby bitch.” Carter said and the other shook their heads.
“That doesn’t mean she had to die.” Kingsley stated.
“So now you’re a vampire.” Taylor asked and I nodded. Breaking a leg from the dining table chair I passed it to Bryce.
“I don’t want to hurt anyone else. I don’t want to be a monster. Just promise me one thing. You won’t allow Lucifer to rise.”
“Don’t be stupid, man. We can figure this out. You can learn to control yourself.” Kinsley said. But he didn’t understand. With every death, every murder that I committed darkness scared my heart. I could feel it spreading. It wouldn’t be long before it consumed me completely.
“Promise me you will save Lily. If she opened the doors to hell. She will die. Using that much power will kill her.”
“We promise.” Kingsley said with determination, and I was satisfied he wouldn’t let anyone hurt her.
“I love you, guys I am so sorry.” Without giving them time to react I took the wooden leg from Bryce’s hand and rammed it with as much force as I could into my dead heart.

I woke up to the frigid wind that bit on my skin and I shivered involuntarily. Slowly opening my eyes, I realized that I was still holding on to Vito’s neck, my body still being carried by him as we ran through the woods still in that super-human speed that I only witnessed in movies. The trees around us were a blur of brown and green and the cold never left my body. I wasn’t sure how we left hell, or where in the world we were running to, but my weak body could only blink and shiver helplessly as I held on to dear life.
The wounds that Vito gave me on my chest gave off a stinging pain, the top that I wore already soaked in blood creating a slightly large patch of wetness on the clothing. This likely explained why I was getting weaker and weaker; there was too much blood leaving my body and even until now it still didn’t seem to stop bleeding.
But I was too weak to worry for myself. I dozed in and out as we run, and just when I decided to give up and allow myself to pass out, Vito stopped to a walking pace until we reached a small, worn-out cabin in the middle of the woods.
“Vito, she’s bleeding too much. She probably wouldn’t make it.” The curly-headed vampire whom I remembered was Klaus pointed out as he and the others entered the cabin. Vito and I were right behind them.
“She’ll be fine. Ella can heal her.” Vito replied simply as the sound of wood creaking underneath Vito’s steps reached my ears. I slowly fluttered my eyes open and watched as we entered the cabin, the yellow light of candles dancing against the frayed walls and the smell of wet earth and burning wood filled my nostrils.
“Where is that bitch?” one of the female vampires said. I then heard a small door creaking somewhere from my right and I lolled my head to the side, watching as a thin girl emerged from inside wearing a dirty white dress. She had long curly hair and tan skin, and her cheeks and collarbones were hallowed giving off an understatement that she was either sick or hasn’t been eating—or worse, both.
“Took you long enough.” The other female vampire spat at her. She moved to the light, and I saw a pair of tired brown eyes; lifeless, even. It was like she’s been kept in this cabin for years already without proper nutrition and hygiene. Nevertheless, she looked really beautiful.
