Chapter 83

Irene Pov

The woman was irrational, if not insane. She had given me and my brothers the task of tracking down a druid named Davio, who allegedly possessed a box strong enough to hold the seven deadly sins.
Lilith was experiencing some sort of problem. I had a feeling. I didn't know what it was, but I was determined to find out. She appeared distant. On the edge.
"Who do you think is the smartest of them all?" Taehyung inquired, and I rolled my eyes at his inflated ego.
"Did you find him?" I queried.
"In a dark alley in Mexico." I groaned as Taehyung smiled.
Mexico was bad enough as it was, with the mafia in control of powerful witches and other creatures. The dark alley, however, was a different story. It's a nightmare come true. The ugliest of the ugliest can be found there.
It wasn't going to be easy getting into and out of Mexico without the Mafia knowing, and if they did, we might all be in big trouble. I'm sure they'll want to use the seven deadly sins as weapons.

"We need to plan ahead of time," but I think I have a plan. I'm going to meet with Carlos and offer him a reward if he can locate Vito." With a smirk, Yoongi said.
"Vito?" Taehyung and I both asked the same question at the same time.
"Yes, the bloodthirsty idiot kidnapped Lilly; he's always been one of our potential enemies." "How about we use him as bait while you two go get the box?" Yoongi asked, shrugging. He raised an interesting point, but I was still hesitant to use him as bait.
"I have no doubt that if Carlos believes you're interested in Vito, he'll want him for himself." “Most likely, he will be tortured in order to extract any Morningstar secrets. Vito, on the other hand, has none. But he'll be out of our way, and vengeance is a jerk."
"All right, Yoongi." I agreed, albeit reluctantly. "Schedule the meeting."
"You know he's going to come after us with everything he's got if he gets out of the Mafia?" Taehyung stated this.
"Oh, I'm counting on it; Lilith is for that." She can restrain the blood sucker." I couldn't help but smile when Yoongi said it. He was still enraged at Vito, and his ego had been harmed when they kidnapped Lilly. I'm sure he felt bad at the time, but I thought he'd moved on. Evidently not.
While Yoongi was on the phone trying to set up a meeting with Carlos, I decided I needed to speak with Lilith. If she was keeping something from me, I needed to know. I had a nagging feeling it had an impact on all of us.
Lilith's chamber doors swung open when I knocked. She was obviously expecting someone else. The whole "Oh, it's you" thing gave me that impression.
I stood in her small, modest living room; arms folded.
"What's going on, Lilith?" I asked her in my best "I'm not taking any bullshit" tone.
"You are aware that the seven deadly sins are at large." She exploded.
"No, that's not it. Something else is going on. "What exactly is it?" I inquired once more, and she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Irene, don't question me." She warned me, but I wasn't scared of her. I'd spent my entire life in hell. Her threats were meaningless to me.
"Who was that guy who came in earlier?" I tried another question.
"Are you really interested in what's going on, Irene?" She drew her brows up and brushed her hair away from her face.
"Lilly has been possessed by something ancient and evil, and..."
“Wait? What?” I cut her off and shook my head.
"That is not a possibility. She's a Morningstar with hell's power behind her. She's also shielded by the locket containing our father’s blood." That's when it dawned on me.
"Oh my God!"
"What exactly is it, Irene?" Lilith inquired impatiently.
"Father has possessed Lilly." I muttered a curse word. It was the only possible explanation.
“Lucifer?” Lilith asked, perplexed. We were all idiots. How could we have missed this? He was Lucifer, the king of hell and deception. He had duped us all. He was never going to die on his own. Forever vanish. No, he'd always find a way to return and torment us.
"If he has possessed Lilly, he'll want her body." His body has died. Brunt to ash." I stated.
"If we don't act quickly, Lilly will be gone forever." He'll figure out a way to get her soul out of her body." Lilith added, her face stricken with pain.
"Father is going to be one step ahead of us." I sighed. Did we have a chance of saving Lilly? Father was a strong man who knew all the trade secrets. To him, we've always been nothing more than puppets.
Now we had to figure out how to permanently remove him from this world. The timer was going off. We had only a few hours to make a decision. But there was no way we were going to get him out of Lilly's body. He'd have a firm grip. He wouldn’t go down without a fight. But neither would we.
"Irene, don't think that way. We'll get Lilly back. We have too." Lilith was correct in what she said. I removed all doubt from my mind. I was strong, and my brothers were strong, and we were going to beat my father together. This was one game he wasn’t going to win. We were taking command of the chessboard.
A knock at the door jolted me out of my reverie. I was more confident than I had been a few moments before, and I was prepared for the challenge ahead.
"Please come in!" Yoongi opened the door after Lilith called. He stood in the doorway, looking as dashing as he always did in his suite.
"Are you ready?" he asked, returning my gaze to Lilith.
"Go ahead, I'll manage this situation." You handle the seven deadly sins." She replied.
"Please contact me if you require my assistance." This shouldn't take too long, and then we'll be ready." Lilith gave me a firm nod when I said this. I followed Yoongi out of Lilith's chambers with her blessing. After I had supported my brothers with the seven deadly sins, I would be available to assist with father. My brothers as well. I was just hoping it wouldn’t be too late.
