Chapter 77

Kingsley Pov
It is only when I wear the ring that I seem to have powers. As soon as I take the ring off I can no longer bring out my wings. I am curious to what other powers I have. But I haven’t figured out how it all works yet. Bryce, Carter, and Taylor have all tried the ring on. But nothing has happened for them. Not even the wings had come out. I wish mom had explained. But sadly, that wasn’t the case, when I had woken up she was gone.
Sighing I looked at the three friends I had left and thought back to the time when there was six of us. Losing Eliyah was a tough blow. Still in our own ways we were grieving for him. Taylor had suggested that we hold a memorial. She wants to remember Eliyah as the serious level-headed guy he was. Not the mass murder he had become. If only he knew that there was a school that catered for vampires. Learned them to control themselves and live amongst society. But it was too late now and there was no use living within the past.
A knock at the door brought me from my thoughts and Taylor rose to answer the door. She came with a tall African man behind her. He was dressed in a white suite and sported a pair of black sunglasses.
“Kingsley Davis?” he asked holding out his hand to me. Reluctantly I took his outstretched hand and Shaked it quickly before I am stepped back.
“I am Master Jeremiah. A teacher at the Angel Academy.” He confessed and my eyes quickly scanned the room ready to bolt if needed.
“I am sorry to bother you Kingsley but as you are a new half angel you must now attend Angel Academy.”
“No. If that is the case you can take the ring.” I pulled it from my finger. I had been with my friends since I was six years old. How could I possibly leave them now? Not after everything.
“The ring?” he asked with a twitch of his mouth.
“Yes this thing. Its what gives me powers right?” I held out the ring and Jeremiah stood as still as a statue.
“Boy, I am afraid the ring is nothing but a family heirloom. It is a ring that symbolises that you are from the light raider’s clan. Nothing more. The power is inside of you.”
Closing my fist around the ring, I thought the man was talking a load of shit.
“Kinsley. You should go.” Taylor said softly coming to stand beside me, placing her hand on my shoulder.
“No, I won’t. I just can’t,”
“Your friends won’t miss you much. A year at Angel Academy is only a week in time here on earth.” He said and my heart sank. That was the same as Lilly she had gone to Vampire Academy, and I was dreading spending the week without her knowing it would be a year for her.
“It is for the best boy.”
“Go, Kings. We will be here when you get back.” Bryce encouraged me.
“At the school you will learn about your family, your mom and the reason she fell to earth.” Jeremiah said.
At the mention of my mother, my interest piked. Maybe going would help me. I’d missed so much time with my mom. I didn’t really know anything about her.
“Okay, when do I go?”
“Tomorrow. I will be back in the morning.” Jeremiah said with a flash of his white teeth and then suddenly he was gone. Vanished into thin air. At first, I just stood there staring at the spot the man had been. Perhaps I had just imagined the whole thing.
“That’s it. When is someone goanna give me powers and send me to a kick ass school? This is so unfair. Lilly gets to be Queen of the underworld and attended a school for blood suckers. And now you for angels. Where the hell is my power?” Carter ranted and I laughed. The thought of Carter with powers sent goosebumps trailing my body. He had a few screws loses that was for sure. I could just see him blowing up an whole town or setting himself on fire.
He wasn’t the brightest bulb.
The night went by quickly. We stayed up the whole night. Sharing memorise. I hadn’t laughed as much in a long time and it was just what we all needed.
The time to say goodbye fast approached. It was time that I stared my new adventure. But this time I had to do it alone. That was the scariest part. Not having my friends, my family to back me up. But I’d get through the year. It wasn’t the end just a new beginning.
