Chapter 32

After another slightly dizzying teleportation, we arrived at an alleyway just behind the diner, where no one would catch us appearing out of thin air. Irene had to investigate my thoughts as she made me picture out the diner and made me chant the address, so it was easier for her to take us here through teleport. It was strange having her inside my mind. Like I could feel her there. Yoongi gave me an approving nod, impressed at my advanced tactics to keep us safe from any passersby.
“Next time, you teleport travel. It will be fun.” Taehyung told me in his thick Korean accent. I nodded with a smile.
“Can you all teleport?” curiously I asked.
“No, I can read minds and enter dreams. Taehyung is the teleporter; he can also move things with his mind and Yoongi can make you envision things that are not there. He also can make the ground shake. But he’s still working on controlling that one. Usually, it happens when he’s angry.” Irene filled me in. She seemed talkative and a happy go lucky kind of girl.
“We could have changed into much more comfortable clothes, you know.” Yoongi pointed out. And he was right. We were still wearing our gowns and suits, all in blood-red color, a look that would definitely make us stand out among the people in Gold peak.
“Well…do you guys know how to magically change clothes? Just like what dad did to me earlier?” I asked them.
“Dad created your outfit?” Irene asked in shock. “Wow, he did great, I got to say.”
“Why can’t we just wear this to the diner? No one will care where we came from.” Taehyung replied with a slight frown as he tugged at his suit, the different shades of red making his pale skin stand out even more.
“But a lot of people know me, and if they see me with unfamiliar faces and wearing these outfits…it would raise suspicion.” I told them. “People wouldn’t stop making up rumors about me and my friends being related to the supernatural, after miraculously ending the attacks in the woods in just one evening.”
“Come on, guys, let’s not put Lilly’s human life here in danger.” Irene told them. “Although, I wouldn’t be complaining if you would give up your life here and join us in the underworld.” I felt my heart drop at her words. Living in the underworld was not what I had in mind for my future.
After saying those words, Taehyung and Yoongi’s faces lit up and nodded in agreement.
I laughed nervously. “I don’t know, guys, I still kind of love my life here.”
Taehyung scoffed, rolling his eyes in a sassy manner that gave him a savage outward appearance. “I find dealing with mortals such a waste of my time. They do not have the same power as I have. It’s very…boring.”
“But we’re literally half humans though…” I pointed out.
“But we have magical powers, if you put it that way.” Yoongi piped in. “We’re capable of things that no other human beings can do.”
“Guys, can we talk about this over milkshakes? We could literally get caught if we don’t move quickly.” Irene interrupted with a roll of her eyes. She then turned to me. “Hold still, Lilly.”
I stood frozen as Yoongi worked his magic on me, the same, familiar feeling that I felt earlier when Lucifer changed my clothes tingling my body. Just as I looked down, I now wore a pair of jeans and a white shirt and some white sneakers.
“Does that outfit look pretty human to you?” Irene asked. I nodded with a slight laugh. I looked at their clothes and Irene and Yoongi looked like your typical high school students, wearing jeans and a different colored shirt paired with some sneakers. “Its not real, just what Yoongi is making people believe is real.” Irene winked.
While Taehyung here decided to look like a model. He wore black skin-tight jeans, a black long-sleeved turtleneck with a beige-colored cardigan over it and some polished black shoes. His hair was still the same—slightly curly and messily sat atop his head.
“You know what? I’ll just introduce you as my cousin from Europe in case anyone would ask.” I told him as I walked past them and led the way to the diner, where the place was a bit crowded. I gulped, hoping that no one would come up to us or make up some assumptions about me again. Even if I was already used to hearing rumors about me, it still felt scary knowing that three other children of the devil accompanied me himself. Although we did look normal wearing these clothes now.
The door to the diner opened with a jingle as I pushed it inside, the sweet smell of pancakes, steamed buns and grilled meat filled my nostrils and suddenly I was hungry again. I led them to the farthest booth which was far from where the crowd was.
“You call this a…restaurant?” Taehyung asked unconvinced as we settled in the booth, Irene and I sitting next to each other while the two other boys sat across from us.
“It’s a diner, Tae. It’s supposed to look like this.” Irene told him with a roll of her eyes. A young girl then came near us wearing the diner’s yellow uniform, holding a notepad and a pen.
“Hi, what can I get for you?” she asked, slightly monotonous, having to do this every day. She went to Goldpeak High as well, just a year below me.
She noticed me and she smiled, a bit of a confused look on her face. “Lilly, hey. I didn’t notice you.”
I smiled at her. “Hi, Jasmine. Just came by for some snacks with my relatives from…Europe.”
I watched as Jasmine looked over at my siblings, a forced smile on her face but from the look in her eyes I knew that she was judging them as well—especially Taehyung, who dressed like particularly no one around town.
“Can you get us some chocolate milkshakes, cheeseburgers, and a plate of fries, please?” I asked her and she quickly jotted our order down on her notepad.
“Alright, coming right up.”
“So…how long have you lived in this town?” Taehyung asked as he looked around the place with judging eyes.
Instead of answering him directly, I decided to start my story from the beginning when I was accused of killing my parents and being sent to the psychiatric hospital. I told them about my life while being locked up, my life when Uncle Robert took me in, when I met the Fab Four and Taylor, and the part when I met dad who told me about hell and who I really was. In between my storytelling, Jasmine served us our food and we ate as I continued to tell them my story, Taehyung and Irene moaning out from the goodness every now and then, clearly enjoying the milkshake and the cheeseburgers. I told them about my relationship with Kingsley, Yoongi then making me promise that I introduce them to him and the rest of my friends. As I finished my story, we were all finished eating and the sun began to rise outside.
“Wow,” Yoongi breathed out. “You lived one hell of a life.”
“Still living,” I corrected, noticing his use of a past tense.
“And so…now you want to know the truth about your parents, why Lucifer is your dad…and all that, right?” Irene asked slowly, carefully wording out her sentences properly.
I nodded. “After realizing that I had in me Lucifer’s genes, and that he was actually my biological father, I’ve been having so many questions that I need answered.”
“Like, if your mother really fucked Lucifer which explains why you have in him his pure blood, and not some kind of semen transfer or witchcraft that led you to believe that your mother’s husband is really your father… well the couple who took you were just hell’s servants. Your Lilith’s daughter the mother of demons. You see when a human mates with dad their blood dilutes his to near enough non exsistent.” Yoongi elaborated.
“Yeah, you can’t really be called Lucifer’s offspring unless he impregnated someone.” Irene added thoughtfully.
All these newfound information was making my head spin and my stomach churn into knots. Everything that I ate today felt as if it would spill out of my guts and every second the nausea worsened. And it was all because the possibility that my mother was Lilith the mother of all demons and my father the devil. Was I born to be truly evil?
“Lilly? You, okay?” Irene asked and I looked up at her. I realized that I’ve been breathing heavily and sweating profusely, and as I looked down at my hands, they were shaking fervently.
“Hey, you look like your goanna pass out.” Taehyung pointed out as a worried look appeared on his face.
“C-Can I please go home?” I asked them. “I don’t really feel so good.”
“Do you want us to take you back to dad? Take that pain away?” Yoongi offered and I quickly shook my head. The last place that I wanted to be in hell.
“No, I mean I want to go home to my house here, with my friends.” I replied. I fought so hard not to pass out the last thing I wanted to catch everyone’s attention here at the diner and leaving my siblings the burden of having to take me back to the underworld without people seeing us do so.
“Come on, let’s get back to the alleyway and I’ll send you home. We’ll talk more next time.” Irene told me as she stood up, moving to help me stand and I let my weight fall against hers as we carefully left the booth. So far no one has noticed me struggling to keep myself up.
“I’ll see you guys at home.” Irene told the two men. I nodded at them and smiled apologetically despite my eyes wanting to close. Just shut out this new world I’d found myself in.
