Chapter 69

“when I had the idea to find you, I had set up this…race…a subtle cry for help to find my daughter after word has spread that Lucifer introduced a new pure-blooded offspring and I knew it was you.” She replied as she looked away from me, looking slightly ashamed. “I’m sorry I caused you and your siblings so much trouble.”
I bit my lip as my mind finally remembered my siblings and Ella who were probably worried sick as to where I was now. I thought back to my boyfriend and my family whom I haven’t told that I was fine ever since I left them. I just wanted everything to return to normal again and in front of me was my key. Although, it wouldn’t actually go back to normal—I have my mom with me again.
“What’s going to happen next? You know, with the race and all. You did promise a huge reward.”
Mom laughed bitterly. “Ah, yes. I’m going to call it off. I know so many supernatural’s would be disappointed and I may or may not get any new enemies…but it’ll be worth it because I have my daughter here with me.”
I laughed as she pulled my face closer to hers and smudged her cheeks against mine.
“Can I have my siblings over? I want them to know that I’m okay. And since the race is off and they have no reason to fight you now, I was wondering if they could stay here too and meet you?” I asked hopefully. I watched as mom’s face turned serious and contemplated over my words before her features softened again and nodded.
“Sure, dear, but they’ll have to wait until tomorrow. The mansion and the whole of Mount Vesuvius are still under a protection spell to keep me and my coven safe while the race started. But the spell should be broken by tomorrow after I have made my announcement.” Mom replied and I nodded, trying to fight back a yawn.
“You should get some sleep,” Mom added as she moved to leave my bed. “When you wake up tomorrow, the race would be called off and you can call your siblings over. I might also talk to your dad about having you stay with me for a few more days. You know, like custody.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous and real my situation was. Here I am, my own mother (who is a witch and was supposed to be dead) talking about custodies with my father (who is Lucifer himself). Wow there really isn’t anything normal about me.
“Good night, mother. I love you!” I exclaimed as I reached for her hand before she could move away from my amazingly comfortable and soft bed.
“I love you, my sweet Lilly. I am never leaving you ever again.” She replied truthfully as she kissed my hand. As I watched her leave my room with heavy-lidded eyes, I found myself peacefully falling asleep in seconds, the feeling of safety and warmth blooming in me for the first time in weeks.

Vito and the other vampires, I knew would fail. The first thing I did after feeding when I left the cells was contact my old friend Ella and set up a race with a prize for winning. It had worked in my favor. But I knew the worst was still to come. Lucifer would come for her, the full moon was almost upon us. But I was ready. I Lilith would keep my true born daughter safe.

I woke up to something warm and heavy and moving on both my sides. Groaning out, my eyes slowly fluttered open to the warm sunlight bathing my room, the blinds turned open and the windows and balcony doors were wide and inviting, as if I wasn’t locked inside here last night. I tried to move my body and get some cooler air but to no avail. Frowning, I blinked the sleep off of my eyes only to see that two bodies slept on both sides of me.
“What the—”
“Ow!”
I accidentally hit someone by the foot of the bed. Sitting up, I realized it was Yoongi, how was now awake and sitting up as he rubbed the lower part of his side where I hit him. A sleepy frown etched across his face.
“Yoongi, oh my gosh, I am so sorry.” I apologized quickly. On my right was Irene who sleepily stirred to face me before her eyes slowly opened, a sleepy smile making its way to her lips.
“Good morning, sister!”
As I looked to my left, Taehyung was more than happy to continue his slumber, his thin lips slightly open as light snored escaped them. One of my pillows were trapped underneath his arms and legs.
“Guys…how did you get here?” I asked as I ran a hand through my messy hair. Yoongi had already left my bed and moved to check himself in the mirror, fixing his messy hair. Irene was already sitting up, leaning her back against the headboard as she took in my surprised reaction.
“Your mother—wow, it feels weird saying it—summoned us here and explained everything at four in the morning. After Taehyung was finally convinced not to kill her and make him understand that Lilith really was your mother, he calmed down and we were finally able to get some sleep.” Irene explained all in one breath. “Don’t worry, your mother offered us a separate room, but we decided to sleep in here with you.”
“Well, that’s sweet,” I commented with a slight laugh. “Still, I’m glad you guys are here. Honestly, I’m still pretty shocked to find out that my mom’s alive and is a witch.”
“You probably won’t get used to that pretty much soon.” Yoongi replied as he walked around the room. “Plus, I kind of expected her to be old-fashioned and medieval. But wow, your mother really outdone herself.”
I giggled as I jumped off the bed and looked around as well. The room looked way more different than last night now that it was well-lit. “It was like sleeping inside a hotel room.”
“Who said that witches couldn’t be modern and trendy?” Irene scoffed, defending my mother for her good taste in design. “Anyway, I think she finally called off the race and the spell are lifted. I can feel myself getting powerful in here.”
“That did not sound like you just now.” Yoongi commented. “So, how about breakfast?”
At the mention of food, my stomach angrily grumbled, and I was quick to clutch it with both hands, looking at both my siblings if they had heard it. Yoongi’s smirk was my answer.
The door to my room opened and in came my mother wearing a different dress from last night. Now she wore a bright red summer dress, her white heels clacking against the marble tiles as she neared us. Her makeup looked so bold and spot-on that she looked twenty years younger.
I could hear Yoongi let out a low whistle.
“Mom, good morning,” I greeted with a slight surprise. “You look all dolled up.”
“Oh, please,” she scoffed half-heartedly as she neared me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. “I’m always dolled up. Besides, your father will be joining us for breakfast so it’s imperative to look my best to show him that life has been amazing ever since he left me.”
Yoongi and I shared a look as we tried to cover up our laughs. Irene seemed to agree with my mom as she left the bed and neared us.
“You’re right, Lilith. And if dad ever tries to make a move on you, just tease him and go.” Irene smirked.
