Chapter 81

Lilith Pov

I'd been pacing my chambers for hours, trying to figure out what had a hold on Lilly. The only conclusion I could come to was that something had escaped hell in the split second that Lucifer and Lilly died. In a short amount of time, an evil entity had escaped. That was all they really needed. A possibility. It had now attached itself to my daughter. It was a lethal combination.
As I ran my hands through my hair, I sighed deeply. I'd had to make the most difficult decision of all, with Lilly imprisoned and unable to control her own actions. Find my first husband, Adam, and beg his help. He was my last option. I swore I'd never ask him for anything else again. I would never put myself in that situation. But I had no choice. I needed his help.
I came to a halt in the middle of my stride when I heard a knock at the door. He has arrived. I ran my hands down my red dress, making sure there were no creases. I took my time walking up to the door and opening it. He stood there, all six feet of handsomeness. He was the type of man who could make any woman weak in the knees. Dark hair, almost black, chiseled face, and muscular physique. His eyes shone with a warm brown glow that bordered on gold at times. He was truly created by God himself.
"Hello, Adam." I greeted him by holding out my hand to shake his. He surprised me by kissing my hand gently.
"It's good to see you, Lilith." You appear to be in good health." I could feel a smile forming on my lips. But I couldn't let him sway me. Not this time. He had a way about him that I couldn’t resist. I had to think of Lilly, and no one could divert my attention away from the task of saving my daughter.
"Could you please come in?" As I opened the door wider, he strode past me standing in the middle of my small modest living room.
"Is this a social call, Lilith, or do you want something from me?" My heart was fluttering in my chest as he said my name. I had to force myself to remember that I didn't love him. Not at all, I was made for him, and that was different. I'd taken control of my own life. I didn't want to stay on the path that God had chosen for me. I wanted to make my own decisions, and Adam was not a part of that.
"My daughter died for a few moments before killing Lucifer." Something old and dangerous escaped from hell sometime during those deaths, and it has now possessed Lilly." I digressed.
"Ahh, I heard about Lucifer's death and the passing of his powers to his daughter." "You had a daughter with him not long after you left me." I could tell he was jealous by the tone of his voice, but I chose to ignore it.
"We've talked about it a lot. She's not yours. The transfer of power should tell you everything you need to know." For a split second, his eyes went dark before he ground his teeth together.
"I'm aware of that now."
"OK, let's not go down that path again." "I need your assistance. Please help me save my daughter." I begged him with my eyes.
"And how do you think I can assist you?" As he took a small step towards me, his eyes took on an unnatural glow. In anticipation, I couldn't help but lick my lips. I took a step back as Lilly's name flashed through my mind.
"If this evil thing has taken possession of your daughter, you only have a brief time to rid her of the darkness before her soul is expelled and lost forever." Her body will serve as a host for whatever has taken control." He stated this calmly. I was aware of this, which is why I required his assistance. We were both the most ancient creatures the planet had ever seen.
“Will you help me?” I almost whispered afraid that he would deny me. How could I blame him if he did? After everything I had done to him in the past. My chest became tight as nerves took a hold of me. It’s vice like grip made the heat from my body disappeared as I waited with bated breath for his answer.
"I'd need to see her." "But first, I'd like to speak with my witches."
"There's no reason for that. Every witch I've scanned has said the same thing. They have no idea what it is or who it belongs to; all they know is that it is old and dark." I let out the breath I had been holding.
"Then we'll have a witch enter the mind." Find out what it is." He said with a cheeky smile that I remembered well.
I had to admit that I hadn't considered it.

A small knock on the door made us both turn in union as Irene slid inside my chambers.
"Can we talk, Lilith?" Irene inquired, a worried expression on her face.
"Irene, go for it." I ordered, not wanting Adam to leave my sight for fear he'd change his mind.
"A few of the older holding cells are vacant." She said this, and terror gripped my entire being.
"Do you know which ones?" I inquired, a shiver running down my spine.
"The seven deadly sins." She said, and my backbone felt as if it had been replaced by ice. If they had escaped, the entire world would be in jeopardy. It had taken a special ability to keep them at bay the last time. The Titans. They became power hungry, however, and had to be restrained. We were screwed. I rubbed my throbbing temples, where a headache was forming.
"Bring your brothers to the throne room and meet me there." We need to devise a strategy quickly." I gave the order, and Irene nodded, quickly scurrying away. I looked at Adam, who raised his brows at me.
"Was it worth it to have your daughter kill Lucifer?" he asked.
How had he known that was my plan? I had not told a soul.
