Chapter 68

“Where are we?” I asked the woman who kidnapped me who sat by the end of the tall bed, staring me down with a weird look.
I’d bet big money if I find out that we’re in one of the biggest and most expensive cities known all around the world.
“You’re in Mount Vesuvius.”
“I—what?”
“You’re finally here, after numerous attempts of hopeless supernatural’s to get you here to me.” The woman said as she left the bed and made her way towards the balcony, looking out.
So, this woman is the host??
“You’re the host,” I repeated my thoughts. “What…why do you want me? Why me??”
She turned to look at me again before pacing back and forth. “Eighteen years ago, my husband and I made a deal with the devil, and in return I will give up my soul to him. This man appeared to me, handsome, tall, everything a woman would want…promised me riches and power. And he did, he had all of those. Enchanted with his beauty and richness, I married him. I left my husband and married the new one and began living a life of a queen.”
Wait, where have I heard this story before…
“But I got scared. This man was not what he said he was. He was evil, scary, merciless…what was a naïve, innocent woman to do? I was blinded by the richness and the pleasure he gave me, but later woken up by the harsh reality of what he was.”
I could see the genuine look of worry in her face even thinking about her past.
“We fought; I was almost even killed in the process. The only thing keeping him from killing me was my promise that I would give our child to him, because I was pregnant at that time. This calmed him down and agreed to send me back to the man I first loved, but he was going to take our child once she was born.”
I began to feel the panic that inched its way to my chest the more I listened to her.
“But I couldn’t let him take my daughter away. I wouldn’t allow this devil to raise my child and morph her into a monster, and so I hid her and lied to him, telling him that my daughter died when she was born. But of course, it was his child, too. He somehow had an intense sense and connection to her, and he soon found out that she was alive, and we lied to him. I had no choice but to transport us to the future. By doing so I left myself weak. I gave you to the nanny and my intention was to gather my strength and go back for you. Protect you. But I was captured by Simon Davis, and I have been trapped there ever since until a young man freed me.”
“Please don’t ever leave me again,” I whispered to her. Her hug only tightened.
“Never, my love. It was my mistake to abandon you all those years ago, but I will make up for everything, I promise. I’m not going anywhere.” She replied, the truth in her promise calming my heart.
She let go of the hug as she pulled me back at arms-length, studying my face.
“Look at you! Look how much you’ve grown! Oh, sweetheart, you’re so beautiful!” She gushed through the tears in her eyes, and I couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Tell me everything about your life, I have to know so much.”
“Oh, mom, you have no idea.”

It was almost around one in the morning when my mother and I had settled and calmed down after our emotional reunion. After the tears were shed, we stayed in bed for a few hours, talked about the important parts of my life on Earth, how I met dad and my siblings, and how I ended up meeting the coven that helped me. All throughout my rambling mom only listened quietly with a fond smile on her face, and from the look in her eyes I could tell that she was still trying to get used to seeing me in person, and very much older than eight years ago.
“Honey, I’m really sorry about your Uncle Robert. I never would have thought he’d treat you that way!” Mom sighed as she ran a hand through her gorgeous long hair.
