Chapter 25

I gripped the demon’s arm. “Your wrong.” I hissed. A dizzying blackness enslaved me, and I felt like I was tumbling to the floor from a great height. I closed my eyes to stop the sickness I was now feeling from arising. When I opened them again, I was stood in a foggy graveyard. Alone.
From the fog emerged a handsome man in his late twenties. Black hair and features that looked like they had been created by the angles themselves. But it was his eyes that drew me in. violet like my own. An unusual color.
“Lilith?” he called in a deep husky voice that I vaguely recognized. Not speaking, I just stared at this man who looked like he was the angel of death. All dressed in black.
“Lilith, my daughter. You look just like your mother. I’ve been searching for you, for many years. That bitch Maddie. Stole you from me. Hid you in the human world. But now, I have found you.” He stepped closer and I stepped back.
“Don’t be afraid little one.” He whispered.
“My mother would never do anything to hurt me. If she had stole me then she had reason too.” I said through gritted teeth.
“You’re right. I did ask Maddie to take you. Keep you safe until your sixteenth birthday. In exchange I granted her and her husband immortality. Unfortunately, she broke that deal. Never returned you. You are almost eighteen. On your eighteenth birthday when the moon if full. Meet me at the woods, in the middle of the stone clearing.” He began to fade away.
“Wait!” I called. A smirk lit up his face.
“The deaths. Will they stop. Who is causing them?” I asked.
“I am dear. And no, they will not. Every full moon until your eightieth birthday and you for full your destiny, innocents will be sacrificed.”
“You have one more full moon until your eighteenth. You could make your own sacrifice. That would stop an innocent losing their life.”

I fell on the carpeted floor with a hard thud. The dark feeling inside me was long gone, and I was breathing in warm and fresh air. Before I could push myself up, a pair of strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me up on my feet. I blinked away the blurriness of my vision from the dizzying fall. Daughter of Lucifer? It can’t be? But somewhere inside me, I knew the truth. I was the daughter of the devil. The vision of my parents’ death came crashing forth.
“Run, Lilly Run.” My mother said but my feet were rooted to the floor as two demon like beings circled my parents. There skin cracked and peeling away. The smell of rotten flesh invaded my senses. I couldn’t move. My feet felt like they had been cemented to the ground.
“You, stole the daughter of Darkness, the child of night.” One of the demons hissed.
“We wanted to keep her safe.” My mother wept.
“Tut tut. You was just the live-in babysitter. She wasn’t yours to keep safe.” The other demon sneered. Talon like fingers reached out and slashed at my father’s neck. The loudest, pain stricken scream I’d ever heard echoed around me and then I realized it was mine. Blood poured from my fathers open wound. “Sorry” he whispered before crumpling to the floor. For good measure one of the demons put his talon through my father’s back and I had no doubt that he was dead.
“Run!” my mother screamed again. I did run to the other side of the kitchen and grabbed a knife. I waved it at the demons. With one hard push I was flying backwards across the floor, my head hitting the wall. Dizziness made my vison blurry. Still, I saw the two demons attack my mother. It was too late. She was gone.
“No!! get out! Get Out!” I roared and to my horror the demons both bowed. “As you wish, Princess Lilith, Daughter of darkness, child of night.” Without any hesitation they left. To say I was confused was an understatement. Still clutching the knife, I ran to my parents lifeless bodies. Blood staining my hands and clothes.
The vision evaporated. I tried to keep it buried for so long, tears fell from my eyes. When I looked around, I was now faced by my friends as well as the paranormal investigation team. They had horrified looks on their faces, the electricity was back on, and I realized that Kingsley was the one holding me from behind.
“Lilly are you okay??” Taylor asked frantically as she pulled me in for a tight hug.
“Are you crazy? Why did you pull yourself down with that demon?? You could have been killed!” Bryce exclaimed as Taylor let me go.
“Guys, give her some space. She’s clearly still in shock.” Kingsley told them. He gently turned me around to face him and I was met with his beautiful eyes looking down at me worriedly, and it was enough to calm my raging thoughts and heaving heart.
“Kingsley,” I breathed out.
“Hey, you, okay? It’s okay, you’re safe now.” He reassured softly as he pulled me in for a hug. “You’re okay now. We got you.”
I wanted to stay like this with him forever—just in each other’s arms, keeping each other safe and nothing else in the world would matter, except that I desperately wanted to stop the killings happening in the woods and put an end to all this as soon as I could. Now that I was aware that a certain devil could be watching my every move, I felt more conscious about my movements.
I gently let go of Kingsley and looked at all of them. The investigation team was just behind us, waiting for further instructions.
“Guys, I’m fine. Something happened while I was back there.” I told them.
“Back where? Where did you go??” Bryce asked worriedly.
I couldn’t help but smirk. “I went to hell.”
And so, I sat all of them back on the round table. The investigation team were listening as well, recording me for further documentation and proof. I told them everything that happened, from when I was hearing whispers calling out to me, Anderson bowing down and calling me daughter of Lucifer, and my whole experience while in hell. I told them about my encounter with the devil, how I was really his daughter and that my parents made a deal with him. I told them how I could stop this finally, including the part where I needed to sacrifice a specific someone to end this monstrosity. Once I was finished talking, they all had shocked and confused looks on their faces. Some members of the investigation team weren’t buying it, but it didn’t matter. If we could finally end the killings and keep Goldpeak safe, nothing else would matter.
“How…how could this be??” Elijah asked, surprised.
“I’ve never been a firm believer of the paranormal, but what you told me made the hairs on the back of my neck stand.” Carter added.
“What does he look like??” Taylor asked out of curiosity.
“You know what? We’ll talk more of that later. We need to end this now while we still can. I have a bad feeling that the sheriff is plotting something horrible for us.” Bryce piped in.
Kingsley then brought his hands together, as if coming to a conclusion.
“Alright, so now we know how to stop all of this. The problem is, how do we lure the sheriff into the woods??” He asked.
“Ah, that should be easy.” Bryce replied with a smirk.
