Chapter 60

“Where are you going?” Taylor asked and sniffled. She had been silently crying for the last hour. Me I had been angry, felt self-pity, guilt and then I am now back to anger.
“To see my mother.” I replied not looking at anyone, just taking long strides to the door.
“She’s locked in the cells.” Bryce stated.
“Don’t you think I don’t know that?” I snapped back and Bryce held up his hand.
“Our father, Carter’s father and Eliyah’s father were in them dam cages. Unfortunately, they lost their lives, and we did everything he asked of us. Still, they died. So don’t get snappy with me man. Your father as destroyed us in more ways than you will ever know.” I knew Bryce was right. But at that point I was passed caring. Instead of answering him and letting the situation get more heated I stormed from the house. There was a reason their fathers had died. They were human. My mother was far from human, and it was time I knew what she was. It wasn’t possible that she could be human. No human had survived the experiments.
“You’re not the only one that is hurting.” I heard Taylor say as I slammed the door behind me.

He growled harshly which made the birds fly away from the tops of trees. Michelle held one hand in front of us and suddenly the werewolf began whining. She was using her magic on him.
I watched in horror as the werewolf gripped his hair tightly, doubling over in pain as he growled and cried out painfully.
“Leave before I crush your brain with my bare hand.” Michelle demanded. How powerful was this witch??
The werewolf, afraid of losing his head, whined again before running away on all fours. Michelle lowered her hand, and she was panting heavily before we continued our walk through the woods.
I was still panicking; I didn’t know how I could get away from her or how I could use my magic to call out to my siblings. Can they even locate me? Were they currently trying to track where I was?
I could hear rustling and leaves crunching behind us once again. Oh no, was someone following us?
“Michelle,” I called. “Do you hear that?”
“Nice try, demon.” Michelle snorted and I frowned. Do they not have sensitive hearing, or do only the vampires and werewolves have that?
A pair of arms suddenly wrapped around my torso before I was dragged away from Michelle. It was like my soul was left with her, but my body was dragged away. I could feel myself losing my breath, yet my heart continued to beat as Michelle’s screams faded away.
The feeling was strange. I was as limp as a ragdoll, but my body functioned properly as if nothing had happened. My arms and legs dangled as someone carried me away, running in super speed. My eyes could see clearly, seeing the moon running with me as branches and leaves outstretched above me. I couldn’t think—I was just there, existing, but I couldn’t move anything.
I could feel us slow to a stop before my body was being laid out on the ground. My eyes remained unmoving, but I was blinking, breathing…it felt weird. I don’t have any emotions; I couldn’t control my body. Michelle was right, I was like a vegetable.
“Pietro, why is she not moving??” The voice of a woman who had a strong Russian accent can be heard from my side. “What did you do??”
“Nothing, I just took her from that careless witch!” The man who took me, Pietro, replied defensively.
“You imbecile! A witch who left her unguarded?? Surely she had put a binding spell on her!” The woman replied exasperatedly. “We need her alive!”
“But she is alive, Olga. Unmoving, but alive.” Pietro tried to reason out. “She will be fine.”
Olga remained silent. She seemed like she was considering his reason.
“What shall we do then, carry her to the mansion?” Olga asked. Instead of a response, I felt arms underneath my body before I was being carried again. I could feel us continue walking.
“I hope you don’t feel jealous, Olga.” Pietro said after a fleeting moment of silent walking. Olga laughed next to him.
“This prize is much more important than love.” Olga replied and Pietro remained silent. That was harsh.
I had to listen to the couple bickering for who knows how long. I couldn’t complain, couldn’t escape, couldn’t talk…I knew I would be like this if they don’t find Michelle and break the spell. I would be like this for all eternity.
The couple stopped frozen in their tracks when they heard an ear-piercing screech echo throughout the woods. It was so loud and sharp that several birds flew out of tree branches in sudden fear. It didn’t sound human, but at the same time it sounded like a cry or a wail. Whatever it was, it was loud, and it definitely scared the vampires. It must have felt painful on their hypersensitive ears.
“What was that?” Olga asked in a small whisper.
“It sounded like a cry, Olga. It sounded horrible.” Pietro replied. He sounded afraid. “Whatever it was, I feel horrible. I have this sudden, depressing feeling in the pit of my stomach.”
“That must be the witch.” Olga said. “Witches have this power of wailing if they lose someone they love, or something that is valuable to them. They do this horrible, painful cry unless something must be done about it.”
“Well, we can’t just give this girl back, can we? That cry definitely came from that witch who I took her from.” Pietro scoffed. He was answered by another painful cry, and this time it didn’t stop. It became even sharper.
“If that witch does not stop, I will personally find her and rip her heart off.” Olga groaned through gritted teeth. Nevertheless, the three of us continued our walk towards our destination, the piercing cry clearly evident and painful to my own ears but there was nothing I could do about it.
