Chapter 39

“What the hell, man.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. Elijah walked into the house looking like a demon raised from hell that had been on a murderous spree. Blood stained his face in splattered drops. His clothes were scarlet red. But it was his eyes. They were almost black, blank of any emotion.
“I did it Kings.” His mouth turned up into a wicked grin. Shivers ran down my spine.
“Did what Elijah?” I looked to Carter, Bryce and Taylor who were all staring at him open mouthed and wide eyed.
“I rid the world of that disgusting piece of shit.” My heart hammered in my chest. Taylor gently put her hand on my arm.
“What did you do?” it was almost a whisper, as if she also was afraid of the answer.
“I killed Robert.” The grin on his face had grown wider, his eyes danced with satisfaction.
“Where is he now?” I asked, hoping that this was some strange uncalled-for joke. But it was Eliyah. That kind of stunt was Carter’s thing.
“In the clearing in the woods.” He almost sang, before walking away whistling.
“Erm, I think we better check this out.” Bryce stated the obvious. Eliyah’s drama was something I could have done without today. I needed to free my mom. Now more than ever.
Sighing I grabbed my jacket and headed out with the rest of the guys and Taylor.
“Tay, I think you maybe better staying here.” I spoke.
“Hell no, she’s not staying alone with that psychopath.” Bryce said with gritted teeth. Holding my hand up I agreed. Eliyah had gone insane.
The drive to the woods was deadly quiet. We were all afraid of what we would find. As we got out of the car, I made a quick decision. “Carter you and Taylor wait by the car. I don’t want Taylor to see anything disturbing.” The last thing I wanted was Taylor to see a dead body. It wasn’t pretty and Taylor had too much of a good soul to see such a sight.
“I am not weak!” she almost yelled at me folding her arms in defiance.
“I know your not. Just stay here okay.” She nodded but I could see she wasn’t happy about the idea.
Bryce and I slowly crept into the forest. We didn’t speak, we just walked. As we came out of the tree’s and into the clearing bile rose in my throat. I had to turn away and take deep breaths. It was no use, after emptying the contents of our stomachs both me and Bryce looked at each. A look of dread and confusion. On the forest floor lay countless bodies. All of them thrown into pile, with pools of blood around them.
“What as he done?” I asked no one particular. We knew somewhere in that pile laid the body of Sheriff Robert. Lily had wanted to save his soul. Rid him of all his evil so he and his family could live a happy life.

That’s when the thought hit me.

“Bryce, can you remember the deal that Lilly made with her dad?” I asked and Bryce nodded, his lips pulled together tight.

“I think the evil that was in Robert has somehow infected Eliyah.”

It has been five days since the guys had told me about Eliyah. It was all my fault. They’d locked him in the basement. But I feared that wouldn’t stop him. I asked my father for help. But he had just said. “A deal is a deal. You never said where you wanted the evil to go. Energy must go somewhere.” So, we were stuck. No idea how to help Eliyah.

“Please, you have to eat.” Kingsley softly insisted as he pushed the tray of dinner towards me. I didn’t bother looking up at his eyes as I shook my head, turning to the other side of the bed and hugging myself tighter. I heard him sigh and the sound of the tray being put on the bedside table told me that he wasn’t taking the food out until I had a bite.

My mind and emotions were so full, they weighed heavy on my heart. But the question was do I even have a heart? The devil my father and the mother of all demons my mother, could I possibly have a heart or a soul?

It had been five days since my father had confirmed the truth of my birth and mother. So much was going on and I was in the middle of it all.

After dad left me in that room, crying, Irene heard my sobs all the way from who knows where and came to me. Without another word, she held me close and teleported me back home, in our living room where Kingsley and everyone else were. They were surprised when we appeared out of thin air that Carter almost fainted, but seeing my anguished face, Kingsley quickly took me from Irene’s arms and brought me to my bedroom. I wanted to tell him of my feelings. I wanted him to know that I had started to fall for him. But I couldn’t. I was a monster. A demon. When I heard about Eliyah, I sank into the pits of darkness, into a hole I couldn’t climb out of.

A pressure filled my head, a pulsate constant throb. Everything was my fault.

“This is too much, Lilly.” Kingsley began with a sigh. “It’s been five days.”
I shrugged stubbornly. “Why not make it ten?”

Kingsley moved to the other side of the bed to face me, looking like he was ready to give me a serious talk, I knew that I’ve been in here for too long.

“No.” his voice was firm and harsh. “I will not let you drown in your own self-pity and guilt. Its time to snap out of it and fix the situation. Laying here isn’t goanna help anyone. Let alone yourself. Your being weak and pathetic.” It was the last words that got to me. “Weak and pathetic” I was not either of those.
