Chapter 68.
Valerie’s POV

I wake up alone like normal, Parker takes off early to train with the others, I get up and get dressed pulling my long hair in to a wrapped bun. I start going through the books we brought in last night, I was to tired to bother with them after we got home. Normally my visions don’t take that much out of me, yesterday’s were intense though.

I was looking at an occult book last night before I left the library so I guess I’ll start there, I read through the book as I see a picture of Griselda, she’s standing behind a tall older man she looks like she admires him. But she’s also beneath him, I read the blurb around the picture with no mention of her name, in confusion I touch the pages focusing as I get pulled back in to the blue daze.

The man is helping Griselda, she’s covered in blood, wearing rags laying on the floor. The older man cleans her wounds making her a herbal tea to drink, I watch her drink it as her wounds begin to heal and my eyes go wide in disbelief. He healed her.

She comes to grabbing on to the man in fear as he calms her down, I can’t hear anything this time only watch. Out of no where I’m dragged through a spin of colours before stopping to see them again, but slightly older. The two of them seem weird she fallows him around like a puppy, almost like she warships him.

I hear Parker say my name as my head jolts up and I look at him trying to focus, the book is still under my hands as I pull away from it looking back at him.
“Hey sorry about that.” I say wiping my face as I realize I’m breathing hard.
“Ok Valerie tell me what’s happening.” He says sternly pulling up a chair to sit.

“I keep getting sucked in to these visions, they feel heavy and weird. They take a lot of energy out of me and at first I thought maybe my powers were growing.” I say looking down to my hands.
“But now?” He asks taking my hands in his.
“Parker I think someone’s trying to contact me. I think it might be the witch I found, I found her picture here too and got pulled in to another vision.” I tell him as he listens closely.

“Ok so now what?” He asks me as I make eye contact with him.
“Well now I call Evan tell him everything I know and talk to Oliver about what he may have found out. Then we wait for Alpha and Luna to return.” I say as he nods standing again.
“Ok well be careful I have to get back to training, you should eat before continuing.” He says and I nod agreeing as I leave to go to the kitchen following him out.

I fill a bowl with fruit, seeds and oats grab a glass of orange juice and head back to my room as I run in to the twins.
“Hey Valerie, you called for us?” They ask as I nod taking a drink.
“Yes I need some help with something for the Alpha, sorry I’m feeling a bit weird.” I say softly as they open the door to my bedroom.

We all sit down and I explain the situation to them quickly, before digging in to my fruit.
“Griselda the witch.” Poppy says thinking out loud to herself.
“I think I’ve heard of her, when I was younger I heard other children tell tails of the terrible witch who lurked the forest stealing wolf pups.” She says wondering out loud.
“I always just thought it was a fairy tail, she has long red hair and it’s said she wears a forest green cloak to blend in and hide in the woods.” She says as I nod taking another bite.
“I think she took the pups to sacrifice, I’m not sure but I can look in to it.” Pepper says looking to her sister.

“Ok well let’s try and see what else we can find before the Alpha returns, I’m going to step out to make a quick call. Please go through the books, anything that may connect to our issue run passed me.” I tell them as they both nod picking up the books. Pepper sets one in front of her hovering her hands above it as the pages flip passed, I giggle walking out of the room to call Oliver.

Oliver answers after the first ring, he tells me that Griselda was a witch that worked for a powerful sorcerer, he saved her from her family. She used her magic for a dark witch in her village which resulted in her banishment, her family tried to kill her as punishment but she escaped and worked for the sorcerer after her rescue. So I guess we will need to find out more about this old man in my visions.

He also told me that she became quite powerful since she disappeared, she vanished 10 years after her banishment and everyone thought she was dead. I mean for all we know we’re chasing a lead that is dead, I think to myself as anger rises. I feel like I’m just running in circles.

I walk in to see the twins as their magic hits me stepping in, Jesus these two never stop. I laugh to myself sitting back at my desk as I go back in to a flash. My heads fuzzy as the blue glare blocks my sight for a few minutes.

I see the basket again, it’s still sitting in a rock cover as snow falls all around I walk over to it, i her a small whimper come from it as my heart stops. I move the blanket seeing a pale soft little baby, I swallow hard realizing this little baby was left out here in the snow. I hear foot steps around me as I step back watching, the noise stops and I stand still not wanting to breath.

A tall man comes out of the bush’s wearing a dark grey cloak slightly shorter then the other, he looks around frantically as he sees the basket running to it. My heart sits in my throat watching, the man pulls the cloak down as my heart stops dead. My dad. The man standing in front of me is the man who adopted me as a baby, he raised me my whole life and here he is.

Here he is taking this basket, with a baby. Oh my god that’s me! This is the day my father found me and brought me back to the pack, my mind blurs pulling me back out leaving me spinning as I try to take in all that I just seen. Who was the other man? Who was the woman yelling in the first vision? I think to myself as I begin to come too and the twins look at me terrified.

“What just happened?” Pepper asks holding my hands as my head still spins.
“Nothing my head just hurts, these visions are kicking my ass.” I say rubbing my eyes as the girls look between one another with concern.

“What? What is it?” I ask frantically.
“Well Valerie, you know how you can let people see what you see?” Pepper says softly as I nod.
“Well what if someone is reversing that letting you see what they’ve seen? Or if they’re trying to look through your eyes.” Poppy finishes for her as I look at them both inquisitively.
“Honestly I didn’t think about that.” I say looking before down, thinking about what they just said.

“Valerie, is there any way Griselda could be your mother?” They ask as my heart drops.
“I guess it’s possible, I was orphaned as a child.” I respond thinking hard about everything I’ve seen in my visions, maybe she was the one calling out in the first one.
“Well she may have the same powers as you when it comes to sight, and you have to admit she looks a hell of a lot like you.” Pepper says looking at her picture in the book.
“It would also explain why your visions have been about you as a child and her when she was younger.” Poppy states and I nod.

I call Alpha Evan telling him he needs to come home, I think we have a real lead here and we should definitely chase it. If this woman exists and if she is my mother, she might be trying to come after me. I think to myself feeling vulnerable and exposed as my heart races.
