Chapter 112

Matthew’s POV
“What is everyone else’s opinion?” Danny asks, letting out a long breath. I have seen the toll the last few months has taken on him. Once he told me who he was, I knew I wanted to fight alongside him. I met up with Oliver, holding my ancestry manuscripts. He confirmed, Danny and Patrick were, in a sense the same person.
“I didn’t get the feeling he was trying to deceive us” Todd announces as Henry, Claudia and Danny all nod their heads in agreeance.
“What do we want to do about it?” Oliver asks the room.
“He wants to prove himself, we should let him” Jason states as I ponder what Barnaby said to us.
“Barnsy has always been there when we needed him” Zephron says to me. “He has never betrayed us before. I don’t think he will start now” I tell him, taking on board the explanation Barnaby gave to us, taking on board the explanation, he never actually told them what we were doing to help.
“I’ve known Barnaby for over 25 years. He has always been loyal to myself and the pack. He won’t betray us” I answer him, looking around the room. “Each of us would have done the same thing, if we were in his shoes.”
“If you have faith, he will be able to get information. I am happy to have him try and seek it” Oliver states, giving me a smile. “On a side note, we need to be at an understanding what we are to do with Michael” he adds.
“He will continue to cause havoc amongst us. The only cause of action is death” I inject looking around the room with a nod from Todd only. “Do the rest of you not want this?”
“Death is only the last resort” Henry pipes in. “I agree with your statement, he will continue to cause havoc. And unfortunately, being put to death is the only thing we can do right now.”
“And the rest of them?” Claudia asks, looking worried.
“We promised Campbell we will not do anything to harm Dorothy. I think he is the one to pass judgement on her” Danny injects as there are murmurs of yes around the office.
“We will set a time for each to be tried and will have Campbell be present for Dorothy’s hearing” Oliver states.
“I would like Grayson and Matilda to be present at Fredrick’s hearing also” I tell everyone. “I would think Raquel and Phyllis would like to be present for the werecat and werebear members who were helping them” Claudia adds.
“And those that fled?” Henry asks, glancing around the office.
“That is the information we will need to seek. There must have been a plan to retreat somewhere. Michael is too cocky. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was planned all along, for them flee” I inform everyone.
“The Diamond Moon territory” Claudia states and we all look over to her. “Amanda just said, most of them fled to the Diamond Moon territory according to Goddess Selene.”
“Apollo has told me the same thing. I wanted to speak with Simon, Jeremy and Brenda about doing another recognisance mission” Oliver states, then adds “I have already spoken with Leon and Jeffrey about it as Sariah was told the same thing by Hecate.”
“Then I will get Barnaby to seek out what they had planned” I inform everyone getting out of my chair.
“Where are you going?” Jason asks me. “To the dungeon to have my traitor moved to the Sapphire Moon dungeon” I smile back at him.
“I’ll come with you” Jason states, getting out of his chair.
“In the meantime, we will meet everyone to sort out a recognisance mission” Oliver says, as Jason and I walk out the door and head to the dungeons.
“So, I’m his great, great grandfather?” Jason says with a slight chuckle. “Yes, something like that” I answer giving a small chuckle myself. “We better inform Barnsy we are heading his way to move him” Zephron tells me.
“Barnsy, I’m heading down to you with Jason. We are moving you to the cell next to Michael’s. I want you to find out why some of their followers fled” I mind link Barnaby. “Some fled?” he questions.
“Yes. We believe to the Diamond Moon Territory” I tell him.
“Are you telling Barnaby we are on our way?” Jason asks me, grinning. “Yes, I let him know we want him moved to the cell next to Michael and find out why some of their followers fled” I answer as we reach the doorway of the dungeon.
We walk through the doorway, “I want the traitor to be moved to the Sapphire Moon dungeons” I bellow to the guards. “And his mate?” they question me. “Leave her” I scream back at them as they open Barnaby and Rebeeca’s cell.
“Please take me with you?” Rebecca pleads as the guards grab Barnaby by the arms and move him out of the cell. “I’m sorry Bec, I can’t do that” I whisper apologetically as the guards close the cell door and we head out of the dungeon.
“Why is Becky to stay here?” Barnaby asks through a mind link. “Because it is safer for her” I reply. Although they will be in different cells, there is no telling what Michael, Penelope or Alexis will achieve. Barnaby will be at peace knowing they can’t attack her, if she is not there.
“I have Tim and Rick getting Josiah. We would like him moved back to Sapphire Moon also” Jason notifies us and I nod my head in acknowledgement.
“You are a relative on mine” Barnaby says to him. “Apparently so” Jason answers, looking back at me.
“I’m sorry about Tracey” Barnaby continues sincerely. Jason doesn’t reply, he keeps staring forward to the Sapphire Moon pack territory. “Now is not the time” I mind link him.
“Brenda, you and Lewis take Barnaby down to the dungeon” I call out to the pair as we reach the Sapphire Moon Border. “Place him into the cell next to Michael, Penelope and Alexis” I add through mind link to Brenda.
“I’ll be heading back” Jason says, turning back towards the castle. “Wait” Barnaby shouts as Jason turns back to look at him.
“I wasn’t aware of who you were. I wouldn’t have placed you or Tracey in danger if I knew” “That still didn’t give you the right to do what you did” Jason spits back, cutting Barnaby’s explanation off. “I know why you did and understand why. Why do you think we moved 400 miles away from our home? It wasn’t so we could have an adventure. We would have made sure they couldn’t hurt your family.”
With Jason’s last comment, he turns and runs back to the castle. “I will never get use to a werewolf being able to run faster than a vampire” I chuckle as Brenda drags Barnaby through the territory gates.
“We have it from here, Lewis” Brenda states as Lewis retreats to the front gate with the castle guards. “Simon has already filled me in.”
“You want to know why they fled?” Barnaby asks Brenda and I. “Yes. We know they went to the Diamond Moon Territory. We need to know if Michael had planned them to flee or it was just a co-incidence they fled and decided to head back” Brenda answers him.
“Do you have trial dates?” Barnaby questions me. “Not yet” I answer. I don’t want to give him too much information. “Josiah was overly curious why no-one has stood trial yet, including myself” he adds as we hear Tim and Rick bringing Josiah behind us.
“Get them to hold off setting a trial date. I will find out what I can in the meantime” Barnaby continues through a mind-link to Brenda and I.
I nod my head and let Brenda continue through the dungeon door with Barnaby as I head up to my office to call Oliver and Danny.
