Chapter 83

Danny’s POV
*“They’re back”* I get the mind link from Claudia and I quickly grab Sophia and head up to their room. “You were linked as well?” I ask Jason, Simon, Tim and Rick as they all come out of their rooms. “Yep” Tim answers as we all head up the stairs and open Mum and Dad’s door.
“What did they say?” I ask, coming in through the doorway and sitting on the edge of the bed next to Claudia. “Hold your bladders; we only just got back and we need time to process” Mum fumes at us.
“What did they say?” Oliver says, coming into the room with Sariah, Todd, Raquel and Phyliss following. “I’ve already asked the exact same question” I tell him; “they were about to tell us” Simon includes.
“Michael and Callum are not going to attack. They know they cannot with all of us together. They will try and separate us. She doesn’t know how as he won’t involve her in their plans. I gave her the option to call us” Mum starts the explanation. “They are joining the Silver Pride and Sapphire Moon Packs together” Dad includes; “Shit” Todd exclaims, looking over at me and then moving his focus back to Mum and Dad.
“Raquel; yes, Crystal is Joshua’s cousin. She has a daughter; Michael became possessive of her when she fell pregnant and she ran away. She has been running away from him with her since. She was seen by Penelope living near here and informed Michael; she is probably on the move again” Dad tells her. “I wonder if it was the same day, I saw her” Raquel mumbles, probably to herself.
“What did I miss?” Matthew says, coming into the room panting. “Did you run all the way over here?” Claudia asks him; “you said it was important. ‘Urgent; come to the packhouse, top floor, first room’” he says, putting his phone in his pocket.
“I was just telling everyone; Michael and Callum will not attack us. They are trying to find a way to separate us. Dianna doesn’t know how they are going to do this” Dad recaps for him.
“They are also joining the Sapphire Moon Pack and the Silver Pride together. How are they doing that exactly?” Sariah questions, looking at Dad. “Michael is passing the Alpha role onto Josiah…” “And Penelope is passing on the leadership to him also” Mum says, finishing Dad’s sentence.
“Alfred apologised what he did and explained what Michael did to him; as Glen was leaping to get Michael, he dragged him and Chris in front of him and Glen bit down on the pair. They were dead before Cameron knew what had happened” Dad continues. “And Claudia; Alfie said you got him good; he couldn’t pee for the next few days and then Cameron; well; your father explained that” Mum injects and Claudia laughs as the others look at her confused.
“I pushed him away, zapping his no-nads in the process. I thought it was Mandy who did it, at the time” Claudia explains.
“I told her to call me, if she needs us and she said she wasn’t going to tell Michael and he can go to hell for all she cares. That’s when Demi Rachael told her, he will be. I think that covers the whole conversation” Mum finishes and we all look around us.
“No, there is one more thing. They don’t believe we have a bear or cat chosen to help us” Dad smirks, looking between Phyliss and Raquel. The two ladies look at one another; “we are flying under the radar. Could make things interesting” Phyliss says. “Very interesting” Raquel agrees. “Michael and Callum still know you are here. You are still in danger, like the rest of us” Simon injects, looking at the ladies, standing next to him.
“I agree with Simon. They may not know who you are. If they figure it out; you are in danger, just as much as we are” I inform them as mum grabs Sophia from my arms and places her between Dad and her on the bed.
“Oliver, how fast can you build another packhouse?” Todd asks him. “A couple of days. Why?” Oliver answers, narrowing his eyes at Todd. “With your permission, can I move my pack here? I don’t want them to be left vulnerable. Danny, if Oliver agrees, are you able to help me put the same safeguards up as what you did on your territory?” Todd asks us both.
“Hmm, to have your pack move here? I will allow it. If one of your pack members interferes with us or treats Danny untoward; they will be placed in the cells, alongside Craig” Oliver replies and Todd breathes a sigh of relief. “You don’t have to worry about them treating Danny ‘untoward.’ I will personally throw their ass in the dungeon if that happens” Todd smiles, looking in my direction.
“Two packs, joining as one” Matthew whispers, looking at Todd and I. “What are you thinking?” Claudia asks him as Oliver looks in our direction, as well. “Would you be open to joining your pack with Danny’s?” Oliver asks Todd, who looks mortified. “We aren’t asking you to give up your pack, Todd. Have both of you rule each pack as Alpha. Consider it as two branches of the same tree, opposite sides as each other. Become one big pack” Matthew includes.
I look over to Dad, he is actually contemplating the idea. Me and Todd, working together. I have only come to peace with what he put me through. I don’t know if I can work with him. **“It makes sense Danny. You will be stronger together than staying individual. You are neighbours as well; wouldn’t be hard to continue when it’s done”** Jesse tells me, trying to put a positive spin on it.
*“What do you think?”* Dad mind links Claudia and myself. *“I don’t know”* I answer bluntly. *“We are still trying to trust Todd”* Claudia adds. *“Two brothers, running one pack. Strategically this will be a great move. Think about it and get back to us”* Dad says before closing the mind link.
“Can we think about it and I can talk it over with Todd? We can give you an answer in a few days, while the second packhouse is being built” I ask Matthew and Oliver. “Take the time to talk it through” Oliver answers, giving me a smile. Todd looks distraught. I lean my head into his. “Let’s talk it over first. If we both decide not to go ahead; they will have to deal with it” I whisper to him and Dad gives me a wink.
“Well, it’s nice everyone came to see us in our room. If I knew you were planning on coming, I would have tidied up a bit. Saying that; it’s getting late and I want to go to sleep; so, if you don’t mind, there’s the door” Mum says giving everyone a smile and Claudia picks Sophia up and we all head to the doorway.
“Todd; when you and Danny talk, think about the strategic side of it. Two brothers ruling one pack; everyone will fear you” Matthew says, before heading out the doorway. “Let’s sleep on it and talk in the morning. We will do a list of pros and cons and come to a decision” Simon says, heading to his room.
“It’s not that I think it’s a bad idea. I have only been given the Alpha role; when Dad was killed. Dad always said I was never ready and now you want me to join with you. How can I prove I am ready?” Todd says, looking at Claudia and I, in front of our doorway. “Todd, you have proven it. Time and time again just by helping us. You are very ready; this is more of a strategic move than anything. Sleep on it; talk it over with Jo and we will talk in the morning” I tell him before heading into our room.
“I will” Todd answers before leaving. “Do you want to join with the River Moon Pack?” Claudia asks me, putting Sophia in her cot and I shut the door. “I don’t know” I tell her again and grab a pair of boxer shorts from the closet.
“I don’t know either” Claudia admits to me, getting her pyjamas and putting them on. “I can see Matthew’s point; and I can see Todd’s” I tell her, hopping into bed.
Claudia climbs in next to me and I put my arms around her. “It would be good strategically. It’s very late and we need to get some sleep. Let’s continue this conversation in the morning” she says, giving me a kiss and snuggling into my chest.
“I love you” I whisper in her ear. “I love you, too” she says back as she drifts off to sleep.
