Chapter 95

Danny’s POV
“TODD” Joanna screams, running over and jumping on him, knocking him to the ground; from the castle gates. “Careful; you are going to hurt yourself and Junior” Todd fumes at her. “Me be careful? You just jumped in front of a silver blade” she yells at him and Claudia puts her arms around me.
“I’m going to take the traitor to Oliver” Matthew says to us. “Tim, Brett; you both go with him. I’m going to take Todd to his hospital wing” I tell them as they go into the castle and we head over the eastern packhouse.
“Oh, my goddess. What happened to you, Todd?” Josie says, coming out of the front doors. “Nothing, just got a bit of a scratch. I’ve already healed; worry wart here wanted me to go get checked out by Doc Fraser” Todd says, nudging his head in my direction.
“And so, you should. You are lucky to have Danny as your brother” she tells him, giving me a smile. I’m still not used to the eastern pack being nice to me, when all I saw was hatred.
“Yes, he is” Joanna agrees, smiling in my direction and we head toward the hospital wing. “Claudia already told me, what happened. Todd; please come into the examination room” Doctor Fraser says, as we enter the doors of the hospital wing.
“We’ll wait here with Joanna” Claudia tells him. “Bunny; I want you with me” Todd says, looking over at Joanna. “Ok” she replies, as the pair walk into the examination room.
“Tell me what happened?” Claudia says, concern etched across her face.
“We met up with Matthew and he told us what he wanted us to do; as discussed, this morning. We headed over to the southern border and Barnaby was looking around at the base of the trees. I asked him if he was looking for something, which he replied no. I knew he was lying and turned my back to him pretending to scan the area. I didn’t think he would try anything because Todd, Tim and Brett were still facing his way. Next thing I knew; Todd was telling me to watch out and he ran and jumped behind me. By the time I turned around, Barnaby had plunged the knife into his stomach. I don’t know where he got it from or how he got it; I can only assume this is what he was looking for” I inform her and she narrows her eyes at me.
*“Barnaby was told by Michael to kill you. If you are gone; it would be easier to get Oliver”* Dad says through mind link. *“What’s Oliver going to do with him?”* I ask him. *“He’s putting him and Rebecca in the dungeon. He wants to wait for you and Todd, before sentencing”* Dad replies and cutting the mind link.
“Was that dad?” Claudia asks me. “Yeah, Barnaby was told to kill me. Didn’t work out that way” I tell her, giving a small chuckle. I need to laugh or I would curl up in a ball and sob again.
“Can I borrow your phone for a minute?” Claudia asks, changing the subject. “Um; why?” I ask her, pulling out my phone. “No reason” she smirks. “Did Tim tell you?” I smile, as she unlocks the screen. "No; Chelsea did. It’s ok, you didn’t tell me” she laughs, taking a sip of water and scrolls through my pictures.
“Holy Shit; I have to have this one blown up” she says, spitting the water she just drank all over the floor. “I better get a cloth for the water” I laugh at her, grabbing a paper towel and wiping the water off the floor.
“I’m going to give dad heaps for this” she says giggling. “As long as he knows, I didn’t tell you” I laugh at her and she starts to giggle at the photo of Simon. “Don’t worry; I’m going to tell him I borrowed your phone and I discovered the photo” she giggles.
“That’s how you lie. By telling the truth, or part thereof” Todd says, as him and Joanna come over to us. “What’s the verdict?” I ask him. “I just need to change my clothes. Mandy did a really good job according to Doc Fraser” he informs us.
“Dad and Oliver are waiting for us. They want to wait to pass sentencing on Barnaby, for us to get there” I inform him. “Let me get changed and we can head over to Oliver’s office” he answers, and heads up the stairs to get changed as Joanna, Claudia and myself wait in the foyer.
“Danny” Anastasia yells behind me. “Ugh” I sigh, turning around and giving her a smile. “Is it true?” she asks me, looking annoyed I didn’t tell her something. “Is what true?” I question her.
“Todd; was he hurt and covered in blood? Josie said he looked like he was mauled by something” she states, pursing her lips in annoyance. “I was not mauled and as you can see, I am not covered in blood. My clothes were and I needed to get changed” Todd says, saving Claudia and myself from the explanation.
“Are you ready, Danny? If you will excuse us, Ana. Danny and I have official Alpha business to attend to” he smirks at her. “Why is they going then?” Anastasia snaps at us. “Because Joanna and Claudia are our Lunas, what we need to do; they do also” I smile at her as Anastasia huffs and storms off.
“Todd; Are you ok?” Chelsea calls out as we head out of the packhouse. “All this attention from the ladies. Joanna will get jealous” he answers her. “Oh please. As if I will be jealous of your cousin asking how you are” Joanna says, coming out of the packhouse behind us.
“I’m fine” Todd says, ignoring Joanna’s sarcasm. “Are you joining us?” Claudia asks Chelsea. “No; I came over to see how Todd was” she says, before giving him a hug and walking towards our packhouse.
“You never did tell me how you did, what you did” Todd says to me. “Mandy; I can get her to come over in my mind; same sort of way she can send us to her sanctuary to meet Mum. She has the healing abilities from Goddess Selene. She helped you” I tell him and he smiles towards Claudia. “Thank you, Mandy” Todd exclaims.
“It’s Amanda; and I only did for Danny” Mandy fumes, coming forward for a moment and leaving just as quickly. “A you’re welcome would have been nice and why do you get to call her Mandy and I don’t?” Todd complains, pouting his bottom lip. “Because, she loves us and only tolerates you” Claudia answers; giving Amanda’s commentary, forcing herself not to laugh. I can only imagine what Amanda is really saying. “Oh, and you’re welcome” Claudia adds, giggling; unable to hold her laughter anymore.
“Any suggestions about what we should do with Barnaby?” Todd asks us, knocking on Oliver’s office door. “I have a few” Oliver says, answering Todd’s question as we open up the door and walk in. “I hope it’s stringing him up by the balls on the flagpole outside” Joanna says, sitting down next to Todd.
“Let’s hear your thoughts” I ask Oliver and shaking my head at Joanna. “Matthew wants him sentenced for treason; which as you know is death. I on the other hand think death is too painless for him. He would suffer more by not killing him” Oliver says, smiling at me as Dad knocks on the door and comes into the office.
“Are you ok, son?” Dad asks me. “Yes; Todd saved my life. I am now in his debt; which I am not happy about” I smirk towards Todd. “Like I said, I love you too and even though you won’t admit it. I now know you love me as well. You wouldn’t have had Amanda save me, if you didn’t” Todd says, beaming a grin at me.
“Oliver, what exactly did you have in mind?” I ask him. “Nice subject change” Todd chuckles, looking back at Oliver.
“It was Henry’s idea. Don’t do anything. He will suffer more when he thinks something is going to happen and nothing actually happens. Always looking over his shoulder scenario; except we will be going to his cell daily to play mind games with him and Rebecca” Oliver informs us.
“They are in the same cell?” I ask them. “Yes, it’s not fair to keep mates apart; especially when they think we will be separating them at any moment” Dad injects, giving a small chuckle.
“What about their children?” Claudia asks Oliver. “Matthew and Cherie have taken them in. They are old enough to understand, 11 and 14. According to Matthew, they had no knowledge who Michael or Callum were” Oliver explains, letting off a small sigh of relief.
“Rebecca is Michael’s second cousin on her father’s side. Apparently, Michael told her, because she is family; she is obligated to help. Barnaby was protecting her, that is the main reason he was giving them the information. He didn’t want to be involved any other way. Oliver’s intuition was correct; when he thought someone from the Sapphire Moon pack was the mole. We need to listen to our intuitions more often” Dad says, giving Oliver a wink.
“Then why did he try and kill Danny?” Todd asks them. “Michael had threatened to kill Rebecca and his two children if he didn’t. Said; they wouldn’t even know what happened. He sent him photos to prove it; of his daughter Chloe, at school” Dad explains to us.
“And his explanation on why he didn’t take Danny and Jason, when he had the chance?” Claudia asks Dad. “Barnaby didn’t have any intentions of helping them. It was after that incident, Michael met up with Rebecca and him at the mall. Him and Callum knew they were missing something, like we felt towards them and needed an inside man. He unfortunately was it” Dad informs us, giving a sigh.
“I like your idea; punish him, by not punishing him” I tell Oliver and Dad, turning our attention back to Barnaby and Rebecca in the dungeon. “It’s all agreed? We will do a schedule of times to go see him. Todd; you can hit him a few times, since he did almost kill you” Dad says, smiling in our direction.
Claudia and Joanna nod their heads; “agreed” Todd says and Oliver smiles at us.
