Chapter 37

Danny’s POV
“Before we head out; there is something we need to do. Brett, Chelsea, Denise and Tracey, do you mind coming around the book for a moment?” “Jason was telling me, what we should expect” Tracey answers me. “Cyndy told me also” Brett includes as the four of them stand around the book, looking at the page in front of them.
“I guess we place our hand on it?” Chelsea asks. “Yes; are you all ready?” I ask them as they nod their heads and place their hand on the page. Each of their eyes glaze over; **“is this what we looked like when Bernadette was showing us, our memories?”** I ask Jesse. **“How would I know? I was with you, looking at past memories”** he snaps back.
“Wow; Jared’s loss is my gain” Brett snickers. “Same with Theresa’s” Denise adds. “I have to put up with you, again?” Chelsea bellows to Tim, putting her arms around him. “That’s why you love me” Tim answers, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“When Simon and Henry are added to the book; does that mean we get added too?” Lorraine asks, hopeful. “I’m not sure; that’s something we didn’t discuss. I assume so; if that is the decision Simon and Dad would like to have” I answer her. “You will be adding me to the book” Mum demands; grinning. “I don’t know. I may want a change” Dad says sarcastically; giving mum a wink.
“Sugar Plum, are you ok?” Jason asks Tracey. “Aunty Yoli; she’s my... she’s my, mum” she sobs in disbelief. “What the fuck?” Claudia gasps as Jason ushers Tracey to the couch to sit down. “Tracey, what happened?” Dad asks her.
Tracey looks at him, trying to compose herself. “I was shown memories of my past lives and how Jason and I are destined to be together for eternity. But I was also shown memories of when I was 4. The attack wasn’t of the human town, like I was told. Callum wanted to kill me. Mum and Dad hid me with a human family because vampires are punished for seeking out humans for blood. I was told they were dead to protect me for seeking them out. Aunty Yoli; I mean mum said Uncle Tom; died in the same fight with Callum and she came here” she answers as the tears started to roll down her face again.
“Why would Callum want to kill you; an innocent pup?” Jason snarls; sitting down next to her. “I don’t know; I was 4. I overheard Mum and Dad talking, when I was supposed to be asleep. I was so frightened. They finished by saying ‘we need to hide her;’ and then they told me, I was going to live with Joyce and Isaac for a little while. That’s the last time, I saw either of them until I turned 18 when Mum reached out, telling me she was my aunt” she answers; visibly shaken.
“I think we need to talk to Oliver. He will be able to give us more of an insight to what Callum was doing, 16 years ago” I inform everyone. “I agree with Danny. Let’s get going” Dad includes as we all head down the stairs to the cars. “Dad, when we get back; you will need to teach me how to drive” I tell him, hopping in the back seat next to Claudia. “I keep forgetting, you missed out on learning these things” Mum giggles; placing Sophia in her car restraint and sitting in the front passenger seat.
Why would a fully grown vampire; seek out and kill a young pup? Is it revenge on her parents? Or is it to do with Jason; maybe? Nah; can’t be that. **“Don’t discard anything at this stage”** Jesse tells me. **“Do you have a theory?” “My theory would be revenge on her parents. But it could be far worse; Goddess Selene said he had plans 16 years ago, revolving a threat to all of us. It may have something to do with that”** Jesse answers, still unsure. **“Whatever it is; it can’t be good. No wonder Goddess Selene told Jason to be there for Tracey.”**
“What do you think, regarding what Tracey said?” Claudia finally asks, breaking the silence of the car. We were all contemplating the same thing, I imagine. “I’m not sure what to think or even say about it. So many scenarios are playing through in my head” I answer her.
“And not one of them is good” Mum includes. “There is no point obsessing over it; until we speak with King Oliver. He will give us more of an idea, what was happening at the time” Dad concludes. “Says the man, who obsesses over every decision he has ever made” Mum giggles.
“If you want to know my theory; just ask” Dad fumes at her. “Dad; I would like to know your theory” I tell him. “See; how hard was that? My theory is, the only way it would be revenge is if Yolanda and Tom; if they are their real names, killed a child of Callum’s. They would go after their child as a matter of revenge. Tracey did not mention anything like that; but I wouldn’t discard it” “So you think it’s revenge?” I ask Dad.
“No; I think it is more sinister.” “Please elaborate? Because, you are on a roll” Claudia insists with a giggle. “Have you ladies finished being sassy?” “Not quite” mum grins and Dad starts shaking his head, turning onto the highway, with the other three cars behind us.
“From what the pair of you have told me about the past, with Nesbeth and others. And why you are reincarnated. We have to prepare ourselves for Callum to have wanted to do the same thing. Use shifters and humans to do his bidding. What Tracey remembers as a 4-year-old; may not have been what was actually going on. He may have wanted to kidnap her. Or he may have wanted to kill, not only her but other pups to get the parents to comply with his demands” he tells us.
“If that is the case; he is no different from James, locking Danny up for killing someone, he didn’t. Or Alfie and Chris, kidnapping me for their own personal gain” Claudia fumes. “Precisely” I agree; trying to hold back my anger.
“Now can you see why I said we shouldn’t obsess over it? Obsessing will only make us angry” Dad explains. “Yeah” I answer him, as Sophia starts grumbling next to Claudia. “Dad we may need to pull over at the next stop, so I can change Sophia’s diaper” she tells him. “I need to use the bathroom and we can swap drivers” Mum adds.
“Can someone message the entourage; we are stopping at the next gas station?” “I’ve got it” Mum tells him; pulling out her phone. “Lorraine says good; she needed to pee, anyhow” Mum laughs, answering the message coming back on the phone.
“There’s one a few miles ahead” Dad says to us. “Great; we can all stretch our legs” Mum includes as Dad pulls into the gas station and parks the car.
*“How’s Tracey going?”* I mind linked Jason; getting out of the car. *“She’s barely said two words to us since she found out what happened. I kept asking if she was ok and she ended up yelling she was fine; woke Jasper up and now, she’s raced in to change and feed him”* he answers. *“She probably needs time to process everything”* I encourage him. *“Maybe.”*
“Dad; how about we do some changes to the cars. Tracey can put Jasper in your car with her, Mum, Cynthia and Claudia. You and I can go in Jason’s car with Sophia. Do you mind driving Brett?” I ask, talking to the men. “I suppose I can; why?” Brett questions. “I think Tracey can use some girl time” I answer him.
“Sounds like a plan to me. I will let Jade know” Dad tells everyone; “I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I would rather be with her” Jason replies. “Jase; she is feeling overwhelmed. She may want some time to process and what better way, than to spend it with Jade and Claudia” Dad informs him; smiling. Jason apprehensively nods to Dad and myself as Dad heads over to see the ladies.
“How about we get some snacks?” Brett says; heading inside. “Get some candy bars for me” I call out after him. “Will do” he yells back over his shoulder.
“Do you mind if I go with Jade, Cynthia and Claudia?” Tracey asks, coming over to Jason. I turn to leave, to give the pair some privacy “No Danny; please stay” Tracey adds. “It’s fine; you need to talk” I tell them, taking another step away. “Danny; we would like you to stay” Jason calls out after me.
I walk the few paces back to them; “Alpha Henry said you suggested we swap cars. I want to thank you for suggesting it and before you start pouting Jase; I love you, but I need time to process my memories. All my memories; not just the ones when I was 4. Theresa was my best friend and she betrayed me just as much as she betrayed Zach or Rick; whoever he was at the time” Tracey laughs.
“I had forgotten you both had grown up together and were like sisters” I tell her; smiling. “Yes; her betrayal really shook me. I was shown the memory and the very next memory was my parents talking. It is a lot to take in” “Sugar Plum; you can have all the time in the world to process” Jason whispers; giving her a kiss.
“We need to keep going” Claudia calls out, near Dad’s car. I walk over and give her a kiss; “Dad has already put Sophia in Jason’s car” she tells me; “I love you and have fun” I smile as Brett honks the horn of Jason’s car. “Settle, Petal. We’re coming” Jason yells out to him; giving Tracey and Jasper a kiss and the two of us head to the car.
“Let’s go” Dad says as Brett pulls out of the gas station and back onto the highway; following behind Lorraine, Rick and Mum. **“I hope it’s not snowing up there yet?”** Jesse complains; **“I hope it is; the castle grounds looked magical when it snowed”** I laugh as he snarls in my head.
