Chapter 70

Danny’s POV
“Where are you going?” I ask Claudia as she gets Sophia ready to head out of our room. “To see Chelsea. She needs true family around her at the moment; it’s not often a father says they don’t love you because they didn’t want you. If you ever said that about Sophia…” **“I will kick your fucking ass”** Jesse finishes her sentence. I didn’t quite hear what she said but I assume it was exactly what Jesse said to me.
“There is a huge difference between Craig and I. For one; I am not a fuckwit. And I would never say I didn’t want a child, even if I didn’t want one. Children are gifts from Goddess Selene; they need to be cherished” I answer her, wrapping my arms around her waist and giving her a kiss on the side of her head.
“Come in Todd” Claudia calls out. “I didn’t even knock on the door. How did you know I was there?” he asks as he and Joanna come into our room. “You have been hovering outside the door for the past 5 minutes. We could smell your rancid scent, looming in the air” I fume at him.
“I’m going to go” Claudia announces and starts heading toward the door. “I’ll come with you” Joanna includes following behind. “Jo; I apologise in advance if your mate is no longer with us by the time you both get back” I smirk, looking at Todd. “Eh; if that happens, I know Todd deserved it” she shrugs as both ladies head out the door; Claudia pushing Sophia in her stroller.
“What do you want?” I hiss at him, sitting down on the sofa and Todd sits down next to me. “Danny, I know I haven’t been the brother you needed or perhaps wanted. I had been told from the moment you were born, Mum died because of you. You deliberately caused her death and needed to be punished. I didn’t know any better; even when Grandma told me mum’s complications weren’t anything to do with you. I asked Dad about what she said and he always told me, the complications were because you came a week earlier than planned, you caused her death” he explains and I look at him in confusion.
“You should have learnt about what can happen sometimes, through school or even reading a book. Mum had the same complications with your birth or did James keep that a secret from you also” I snarl at him and he gasps with the revelation. “From your reaction; he did” I include.
“I was never a good student; Dad ended up home schooling me. He didn’t really teach me those sorts of things, only things pertaining to becoming an Alpha” he whispers in my direction.
“This isn’t the only reason why you came here” I tell him, looking a bit perplexed at what he was saying. “No, it’s not. Before I go into anything else; I wanted to tell you, I am really sorry and Joanna said to explain why I acted the way I did; to give you understanding for my attitude towards you. She said someone by the name of Isabella always says you need to explain to those around you, your actions and why you did them; so, they can also understand them” he tells me.
I smile at him; “Isabella does say that. She is our pack psychologist and a good one at that. I accept your apology and understand why you did what you did. I haven’t forgiven you and it will take a lot more than you saying sorry, for me to give you my forgiveness” I tell him, pursing my lips. “Just accepting my apology, is a good start” he says, smiling back at me.
“Now, tell me what else you want to tell me?” I question him. “After the meeting, Jo and I were talking and I told her, I think I may know who Callum and Michael are getting to help them and she said I needed to come and see you” he informs me as Jesse comes to the forefront of my mind. “And?” I spit at him.
“And; Have you noticed there have been no rouge attacks on either territory for many years?” he says to me and I think about what he is saying. I don’t remember anyone attacking and I don’t know much about rouge attacks. “Hang on a moment; I need to call Dad, Jason, Cynthia and Simon here” I tell him. “Can you get Tim here also? I want to ask your permission on something regarding him” he informs me.
I open a link to the five of them; *“Can you please come to my room; Todd has a theory he would like to share and I need your input as I don’t know much about what he is saying.” “On my way”* Dad says back to me; *“Me too”* Simon includes.
“They’re coming” I say to Todd as the door opens and Dad and Cynthia walk into the room. “What’s going on?” Cynthia asks. “Let’s wait for Simon, Tim and Jason. Please take a seat; Todd, move your ass so Cyndy can sit down” I say, as Simon comes into the room.
“We are all here, please share with all of us, your theory Todd” Dad says, looking at Todd as Jason and Tim come in and find somewhere to sit. “I was just telling Danny; I think I may know who Michael and Callum are getting to help. There haven’t been any rouge attacks for years in either territory to my knowledge and I remember Dad telling me something not too long before he died. Simon, do you remember Derek?” Todd asks him.
“Yeah, he was cast out by James a few years back. He raped one of the strippers from his club. He claimed the sex was consensual and it ended up being a case of his word against hers as there was no footage of him ever being in the club at the time. James could never use his Aura like you, Henry and I believe he did the right thing, the girl in question was quite beat up” He answers as I let off a small growl.
“Dad was telling me; last time he went to Diamond moon Pack, he thought he saw Derek. He couldn’t be 100% sure because he scurried off very quickly and thought it was weird, a rouge would freely walk around a pack as though he lived there. I didn’t think any more of it until I spoke to Jo after the meeting. She said she wondered if they could be getting rogues as they will fight for whomever offers them a better way of living. I think Michael has been collecting rogues and allowing them to join his pack” he informs everyone.
“What makes you come to this conclusion? You said yourself, James couldn’t be 100% sure he saw him” Jason asks. “True; but how long has it been since you have had a rouge attack? I asked Danny if he had noticed any and he said he needed you all to come here” “I wouldn’t know anything about rogue attacks. I was locked up for 8 years and 4 months before coming over to the Cedar Moon pack where I was in a coma for 2 months and then trying to get fit enough to protect my mate” I spit at Todd.
“Danny; I can answer the question” Cynthia states, giving me a smile. “I don’t remember ever having a rogue attack. Dad would always say we need to be wary of rogues as they do become feral without a pack. I am not surprised, though; Alpha Henry doesn’t cast people out if he can avoid it. Although this Derek sounded like he needed to be cast out” she answers, looking at Dad for confirmation.
“You are right, Cyndy. I will not cast someone out if I can avoid it. Todd; your theory has merit. I would like to see Matthew, Phyliss and Raquel and discuss whether or not they have had rogue attacks. If they have not; then this is something we need to look into” Dad responds.
“Now for the big question; what do you want to discuss, regarding Tim?” I ask Todd and Tim gives me a ‘what did I do wrong’ look.
“I want to ask your permission to have Tim re-join the River Moon Pack. I have had to leave Bozo the clown in charge again and would still like Tim to be my Betta. I would only do it if everyone here agrees” Todd says, smiling at me.
“Who is Bozo the clown? and it’s up to Tim, if he would like to take up your offer” I answer him. “Gamma Steve. He’s as dunce as they come” Todd injects as Simon gives off a chuckle. “He means well Todd; but I will have to agree with you. He is one fry short of a happy meal when it comes to leadership.”
“I am still asking him to continue on as my Gamma but I need someone with smarts and knowhow like Tim as my Betta” Todd says as Jason, Cynthia and my mouths gape open with shock. “Thanks, guys. Nice to see you trust my skills to become Todd’s Betta” Tim says, clutching his heart in mock hurt.
“I’ve just never heard your name and smarts and knowhow in the same sentence before” Jason says, laughing. “Tim; you have learnt a lot with us at the Cedar Moon Pack and you will make a wonderful Betta, if you choose to take Todd up on his offer” Dad says, shaking his head at Jason, Cyndy and I.
“Let me think about it. I need to talk it over with Chelsea before making a life changing decision like this” Tim responds, smiling at Todd. “Take all the time you need” Todd tells him.
