Chapter 61

Danny’s POV
“What am I doing here, Mandy? And where’s Claudia?” I ask looking around the sanctuary. “You have been summoned” Mandy answers, coming over to me. “Summoned? By who?” “By whom, Danny and you were summoned by me” Mum says, coming from the edge of the sanctuary.
“Mum” I call, running to her and giving her a hug. “Mandy; you can bring Todd over now.” “Why?” I snarl at her. “I want to talk with both my boys” she tells me, giving me a stern mummy look; I have seen Mum give Claudia.
“What have you done to me? Where am I?” Todd yells, looking in my direction. “Todd, sit down and shut up” Mum says to him. “Mum? Am I dead? I can’t be dead because Err, I mean Danny is here” he says to himself. “I said; sit down and shut up” she sternly tells him again.
“We have a situation; Todd you need to help your brother” she says, looking at Todd. “I’m trying to help him, he doesn’t wan…” “I didn’t say you can speak” she fumes at him. “Please continue, mum” I smile at her; not looking or acknowledging Todd.
“You are wanting to help yourself, not Daniel. I see all” “And so do I” Grandma Nelly calls out from the side of the sanctuary. “Grandma?” Todd whispers as Grandma Nelly walks over to Todd. “You are as weak as your father” she screams slapping him across the face and walking over to me.
“Mum; please?” “I have it out of my system” Grandma informs us. “As I was saying; Todd you need to help your brother, no ifs, buts or maybes. Michael and Callum are planning on destroying what all shifters have; a peaceful existence; for the most part, with other supernatural beings. This is why your brother is on earth, to stop them. You and your father should have treated him, for who he is. One of Goddess Selene’s chosen” Mum tells him.
“We still don’t know what we are dealing with mum. We are only getting small glances here and there. It’s like putting a puzzle back together without all the pieces” I tell her, letting out a sigh. “This is where Todd comes in. You know what I am talking about” she says, looking at Todd. “I can’t get into the files” he tells her.
“Will you stop lying to your mother” Grandma fumes at him. “I can’t, I’ve already tried” he yells back; as Grandma goes to backhand him again and stops as mum shakes her head. “Will you care to inform me; what you can’t do?” I snarl at Todd. “Dad has a computer file, marked untouchables on his computer. I tried opening it but it’s not accepting his password” he spits at me. “And what is on this file?” I ask mum. “We believe it’s emails and other files from Michael and Callum to James” she answers. “Does Quinton know the password?” I ask her.
“Yes, I do” he answers; coming over to us from the edge. “Quinton?” Todd says, looking at the tan wolf, trotting over to us. “Todd, is Vincent still pissed off with you. Take my word for it; he will leave you if you do not change your attitude” Quinton growls at him. “Hello? Password?” Todd snipes at him, rolling his eyes. “Watch your tongue, before I rip it out” Amanda yells at him.
“What is your name?” “None of your business” I yell at Todd, moving to stand in front of Amanda. “Quinton, can you tell us the password please?” I calmy ask James’ wolf. “I will give the password to whomever you have going to the River Moon Pack.” “I will go. They want my daughter; they can have me. This is how you should treat a baby, sacrifice yourself for them” I quickly boom at Todd as he lowers his head.
“Why can’t you tell me?” he whispers to Quinton. “Because you are James’ son and I don’t trust James’ son” he states. “Danny is…” “Don’t say it, Todd. I made that mistake once and got a mouthful. You say it, Danny is close enough to take a good swipe at you” Mum warns him.
“Are you going to help me or not?” I spit at Todd. “I told you I will” he snarls back at me. “No, you didn’t. You told us you have a pack to run too. You were only offering to be our eyes and ears to get yourself out of the cell” I scream back at him, my annoyance filling the sanctuary.
“Boys” Mum yells over the top of us. “Todd, will you help Danny and not stop helping him because a better offer comes along?” Grandma Nelly asks him. “Yes” he whispers, lowering his head. “Promise me; you will help him; no matter what and not change your mind” Mum demands from him. “I promise; fuck me” he mutters at her.
“And Danny, will you accept Todd’s help?” she asks, smiling at me. “If I must” I answer her, turning my attention away from Todd.
“You must” Mum exclaims. “Before I send you back Todd, I have one more thing to talk to you about. Why the fuck did you reject Joanna? She is a good person and you needed her. What’s more; you pushed her to do things against her better judgement. Using the mate bond as bait” she seethes, narrowing her eyes at him. “You too? What about what I want in my mate?” he fumes and I slap him across the face. “Have respect for your mother” I snap at him.
“I told you he was close enough to swipe at you” Mum giggles. “You may send Todd back” she adds as the flash of light sends Todd out of the sanctuary. “The password is Sophia with a capital S” Quinton tells me. “Sophia?” I ask him, raising my eyebrow. “Yeah, surprisingly, he was excited to have a grandpup. Pity he wasn’t excited who the father of the grandpup was” Quinton says, smiling at me.
“I know you don’t trust Todd, Danny. He has not given you any reason to trust him. Still be wary, but you need him” Mum tells me, putting her arms around me. “I will make good of my threat. He betrays you; I will hunt him down and rip him apart” Jesse says nudging my leg. “Where were you hiding?” I smile at him. “He was hiding with me at the edge of the sanctuary” Claudia says coming over, holding Sophia.
“She is getting, so big” Grandma Nelly remarks, taking Sophia out of Claudia’s arms. “You heard the whole conversation?” I ask her. “Every word” she tells me, giving me a kiss.
“I suppose we better tell the others” I say to her, looking at Amanda. “We don’t have to; you can all come out now” Claudia calls out as Dad, Jason, Cynthia, Tim, Rick and Simon come over from their hiding spot at the edge of the sanctuary.
“You handled having Todd near you better than I thought” Tim chuckles, putting his hand on my shoulder. “Whose idea was it to have mum tell me to use Todd’s help?” I ask the group. “’That would be me” Simon says, putting his hand up and I narrow my eyes at him.
“We were all worried about Todd; how did you say it, Tim? Changing his allegiance like he changes his underwear. I’m getting down with you young one’s language” Dad says doing and I love you sign with his hand in front of him. “No Dad, please. That is so wrong” Claudia giggles at him.
“We told Amanda to let Simon know we will make sure, Todd won’t do that. Having him come here and telling him you are Goddess Selene’s chosen; he will think twice” Grandma Nelly tells me. “And if he does?” I ask her. “If he does; you will need to remind him how easy Jesse can find him. You will just send him back to the sanctuary” Mum laughs, glancing a Jesse.
“And I will continue to let him know, even if they kill you because of him; he can’t get away from us” Jesse snorts, nudging my leg again.
“Since you are going back with him; I don’t feel comfortable with you going back alone. Tim will go; because how else do you think, Todd escapes? And Jason will be captured too” Simon tells me. “And when we get there, you will access the computer and we will escape and hide in Grandma Nelly’s place” Jason includes.
“And I will be bringing, Claudia, Tracey, Chelsea, Sophia, Jasper and Jacob every other night so you can all see one another” Amanda adds, licking my leg. “Sounds like everyone has it organised” I tell them.
“We do; we are a good team” Claudia chimes in. “Let’s hope these files contain what we need to know” I say to them, not sounding overly convinced. “I believe, they do. I told Jacinta about them; who in turn told Rachael” Quinton informs me.
“Do you know what they contain?” I ask him. “I only caught glimpses of them; I know there is files on you, Claudia and Henry. I not sure if there is a file on the rest of you” “Me? Why me?” Dad asks, interrupting him.
“I’m not sure, as I said; I only caught glimpses of them. He would open the file and then barricade me” Quinton tells us. “If he didn’t want you to see them, they must contain crucial files to help us” Simon informs us. “That is what I am thinking and why I told Jacinta about them” Quinton includes.
“We have a plan; and I want to get back. Thank you for your help” I say giving mum and Grandma a kiss on their cheeks. “We love you” they say together as Grandma Nelly gives Sophia back to Claudia and they head to the edge of the sanctuary.
“Let’s get going” Claudia says to Amanda as a flash of light sends us back to our room.
