Chapter 14

Alpha Henry’s POV
Day 3 of Claudia’s heat. The wait for them to finish is making Jade anxious; she can’t wait to see if we will have a grandpup. We aren’t sure if she will fall pregnant; there isn’t much information what happens to white wolves and if they go into heat. Our assumption, she will; but until she is finished, we won’t know.
There is one thing dampening their special occasion; Todd. He has called a few more times over the last two days.
“Joanna; I need to ask you. Have you seen Todd recently?” “No Alpha Henry; I haven’t been off the pack grounds since Claudia told me about Todd’s other mistresses” she answers. I look into her eyes; she is withholding something. “You are lying to me” I boom at her; releasing my aura to take over the room. She drops her head; “I will ask you again; have you seen Todd recently?”
“He was here a few days ago. He snuck onto the territory; I told him to leave and shut my door in his face. I didn’t see him again” she answers, through sobs; the fear seeping out in her voice. “Thank you, you may go” I tell her.
“How much are we going to tell Danny and Claudia, about Todd?” Jade asks me; standing up from her chair behind my desk, sensing my anxiety. “I’m not sure what to tell them. All we know; he came here and is now calling here, chasing Claudia. Even after I told him; she has found her mate” I answer her.
“I’m trying to figure out; is it because of Claudia and Amanda? Or because she is mated to Danny? It could be either” Jade exclaims. “I’m still trying to figure that out, too” I tell her, frowning. Todd’s phone calls are causing stress, we don’t need right now.
“Let’s not worry about that now. We need to worry about what we can control. I know I am jumping the gun; but I went shopping yesterday and got this really cute onesie” she laughs. I roll my eyes at her; “Love Petal; we know most she-wolves fall pregnant when they go into heat. Claudia is different, we aren’t sure if she will; being a white wolf. I don’t want you to be disappointed if she hasn’t fallen pregnant” “Can’t you let me have this?” she huffs; pouting.
“You can get as many items as you want. If she is pregnant” I chuckle at her. She smiles and gives me a kiss; “I have my eye on a really cute bassinette.”

Danny’s POV
I roll off Claudia, onto my back on the bed; “fuck me” I yell. **“That’s what Claudia and Amanda have been doing for 3 days”** Jesse chuckles. I am totally spent. We’ve done more endurance work in 3 days; than what I have done since I first woke up in the hospital. Doctor Elliot told Joslyn we needed to have plenty of water sent up.
“Do you want some water?” I ask Claudia; sitting down on the sofa in our room. “Yes please” she answers; moving over to where I was and sitting on my lap. She grabs the bottle of water, I was holding and gulped it down. “How are you going?” she asks concerned. “I’m fine. I’ll keep up if we need to continue” I tell her. “I’m good; We are at the end of it” she says, giving me a kiss.
I breathe a sigh of relief; “I am exhausted” I proclaim; chuckling. “So am I” she giggles.
“I definitely need to up my endurance at training. I know I can handle it now; no excuses” I laugh. She looks at me; “Danny; I was hoping we could talk before we started, we didn’t have time. What do you know about she-wolves going into heat?” she asks; pursing her lips. “Not much; only what we did” I answer her.
“I need you to smell my scent. What does it smell like?” She asks me and I sniff the air; her scent of Strawberries and Mint is strong in the air; but there is hint of something else. I look at Claudia, confused; I sniff the air again. **“Jesse; why does Claudia have a hint of Peaches in her scent? Does going through heat change a person’s scent?”** I ask him. **“It can do; but it’s not Claudia’s scent you are smelling. It’s someone else’s”** he explains to me.
I’m confused; how can someone else’s scent become mixed in with Claudia’s scent? I think about it; and look into her blue eyes. “Danny?” Claudia whispers. “I don’t understand. Jesse said you have someone else’s scent mixed with yours. How can that be?” I tell her; getting frustrated. She giggles; “Danny; the scent you can smell is your daughter’s.”
“My what?” I ask her; shocked. “Your daughter; when a she-wolf goes through heat. They normally fall pregnant. Amanda being a white wolf; we weren’t sure if I would fall pregnant. White Wolves are rare. Goddess Selene gives one every century or so. Because they are coveted; they don’t normally have a chance to have children. We are very special” she explains. I remain quiet. Wow; We are having a daughter; I can’t believe it? I always wanted children.
My thoughts are going a million miles an hour on what can happen; What if Claudia has complications. What if she dies because of it? What if I turn out like James; I slink back into my mind and let Jesse come forward. **“I need time to process; tell Claudia I am happy but Mum died from complications of my birth. I can’t handle this at the moment”** I tell him. “Danny” Claudia calls me again. “Danny needs time. He’s emotions are all over the place at the moment” Jesse tells Claudia. “What do you mean?” she asks as I put the barricade up.

Claudia’s POV
“Jesse; what do you mean?” I ask again; tears streaming down my face. “Claudia; Luna Rachael died from complications from Danny’s birth. He knows he didn’t cause her death; he is fearful of your safety. He always wanted children; now you are pregnant; what can happen has hit him” he informs me; wiping the tears from my eyes. “He is happy though?” I ask him. “He is happy, he is worried about what can happen to you.”
“I should have warned him; I could fall pregnant. It’s my fault he has barricaded himself in his mind” I cry to Jesse, tears falling down my face again. “Claudia; he loves you. We should go talk to your father and Doctor Drury. They will be able to help you” he says, giving me a kiss.
Jesse takes my hand and we head to Dad’s office. I knock on his door; “Come in” Dad calls out. We open up the door and walk in; he looks at me and then at Jesse. “Jesse; what happened? Why is Claudia upset?” Dad asks.
Jesse takes a breath; “Danny needs time to process” he tells Dad. “Process?” Dad asks sniffing the air. “Sweetheart” he says giving me a hug. “Dad, we should have warned him about me going into heat and possibly falling pregnant” I cried. “Is he not happy about the baby?” He asks.
“He is happy about the baby. From the age of 14; Danny was always saying how much he would like to find his mate and have pups of his own. He wants to be a father and he said he would treat them like angels. Nothing like his own father. It’s not the baby. His thoughts before he barricaded himself was about Claudia; will she have complications; will she die and he turns out like James. He became overwhelmed with these thoughts” Jesse informs us.
Dad smiles at me; “Sweetheart, I agree, we should have warned Danny about what could happen when you went into heat and had him discuss it with Isabella. From what Jesse is saying; Danny loves you more than life itself and he is worried about you. We haven’t had to deal with what he has; being blamed for something out of his control; because he was born. I can understand why he got overwhelmed with his thoughts”
I give Dad a hug; “My courageous fighter is trying to fight his thoughts” I whisper to him; as Dad’s phone goes off.
Dad looks at the caller ID “this fuckwit doesn’t take no for an answer” Dad fumes. He rejects the call. “Who was that?” I ask him. “Todd; he has called another few times. He’s determined” Dad replies and Jesse let’s off a growl in the corner of the office. Dad’s phone goes off again; this time Jesse answers it.
“Hello” he says; “Who? Claudia? Sorry, there’s no Claudia here.” “My name? My name is Jesse” he answers. “Alpha Henry? never heard of him” he says, as I stifle a laugh. “Hang on;” he moves the phone away from his ear, counts to 10 and puts it back to his ear “Alpha Henry said you were a fuckwit and you need to learn to take no for an answer” he finished; hanging up the phone. He looks at us, a grin coming across his face.
Dad and myself couldn’t stop the laughter. “Why didn’t I think of getting you to answer the phone before, Jesse” Dad laughs. “Because he never called, while I was in the room” Jesse answers with a straight face and I start the laughter again.
I try to calm my giggles and become more serious. “Jesse; I need to talk to Danny. Let him know I understand. We need to talk his fears over with Isabella. Is there a way we can talk to him?” I ask him. “He has barricaded himself. I can’t ask him; yet” he answers. My face drops and tears well up in my eyes again.
**“There is a way”** Amanda says. **“What do you mean?” “I’ll bring him to my sanctuary”** she answers. **“Your sanctuary, why didn’t I think about that?” “Let me talk to him; I will try and convince him to talk to you and Isabella”** she replies.
“Dad, there is a way we can talk to Danny; through Amanda. She will try and convince him to talk to Bella to help him with his fears” I inform him. “Can I ask what Amanda can do?” “Sorry Dad. You know how secretive Mandy can be” I answer him.
Jesse looks at me and smiles; “while Mandy talks with Danny; we can get some food. I’m famished” “You’re a wolf, you are always famished” I laugh. I give dad a kiss as Jesse and myself walk out of his office. “I want some of those pancakes, you cooked for Danny” he says to me. “I guess, we can make some” I tell him as we walk into the kitchen. “Don’t guess; make” he smiles.
