102. Scotch

We were having the party tonight for Christmas and Lilith was so so excited. The whole pack was really. She had managed everything down to the last detail. It was just for our pack no one else, which was good because I doubted anyone would come considering it was Christmas Eve. Lilith had put up Christmas trees all over the pack lands, well besides the woods. Unlike the fall festival she and Roxie and a few others had done all the decorations. Making wreathes and things.

The only thing Lilith did not do was make the food. Though she had organized the menu. It was huge and elaborate, a formal event. I watched as she styled her hair in an updo. Her gown was not on yet, but I stood in my tux leaning against the door watching her. “Eric, can’t you go find Noel or something. I don’t need an audience for this.” I came up behind her and kissed her neck. She smiled. I was glad she was all healed up minus a few lingering scars that seemed to be getting less noticeable every day. “Okay I will go find my brother.” Lilith nodded.

I left her to get ready. “Noel want to grab a scotch.” I mind linked him. “Fuck yes, if I have to wear a tux for the rest of the night I need liquor in my system.” I snorted telling my little brother to come to my office. We got our dinks and sat on the couch. “So, I am glad everything is going smooth sailing. You know I was worried there for a moment, but apparently your mate is on the right path.” Noel told me and I nodded. I agreed everything seemed to be going well. “So how are you feeling these days with the idea of being a dad?” I looked at him. “I am fine with it.” Noel nodded and took a sip of his drink.

“About dam time, your fucking old man.” I shoved my brother's shoulder. “Does dad know he will be happy.” Noel asked and I glared. “No, I didn’t tell him, besides how would I tell him. You know he never picks up his phone and with all the snow it was impossible to get to his cabin.” Noel nodded. “Do you think he is coming tonight?” I asked Noel. I knew he had been invited. Lilith insisted saying he was part of the pack. She had been oddly sentimental since being pregnant.

She made amends with her own mother. Which honestly, I thought was ridiculous. Then she also wanted me to bring my dad around more often when the triplets were born. I told her no, but it didn’t stop her from pushing. I told her that he hated Draco wolves and if he found out he would try to kill her, but it didn’t stop her from asking me to mend bridges. Noel said. “I doubt he will come; I mean Lilith got him to leave last time, not to mention he hates her.” “You are probably right. He is not kind at all, I hope he doesn’t come.” That would turn a great night into a horrible one.

“Hey, had Rob reached out since he sent the photos?” Noel asked. I shook my head. I had finally gotten a bunch of photos and videos that I couldn’t really stomach to watch. I watched one and it was just disgusting and painful to watch my mate go through forced shifts. Then seeing her their lying unconscious and naked, it was just a lot. I had them all burned. “No, he hasn’t which is weird. I thought there would be more baiting from him. You know, but maybe me bringing up his old Alpha and threatening him with it made him back the fuck off you know. I think he is scared.”

Noel took another sip. “I doubt it. That guy is a psychopath. If anything, he is probably trying to figure out a plan to get Lilith back. Do you think...” Noel stopped talking. “What Noel?” “It is nothing.” He said. “It is not nothing clearly you were going to say something, so go on spit it out.” I told my younger brother. “Do you think Lilith has been in contact with him at all. I know the guys who grew up with her, are not in contact. They love it here, all of them have great jobs and Marcus is about to have his shop up and running. But Lilith do you think she has been in contact with him?” I stared at him.

Noel went on “You told me she has been trying to mend family relationships. I was just wondering if she was trying to mend that relationship. I know Rob is not her family, but she viewed him as a father for a long time. Maybe she has been talking to him?” I shook my head. “Why would she though. She hates Rob. She has since she found out what he really was. Why would she want to mend that bridge.” I said and Noel shrugged his shoulders and took another sip. “I just wanted to know. I think if she was, she wouldn’t tell you. Not because she wants to lie or anything, I just think she wouldn’t want to disappoint you. But she may want closure with him Eric. You should talk to her about that. You and I both know family is hard.”

I could see his point. Noel spoke again. “I do think it is good she is trying to mend things with her mother though. I know the woman is horrible, but I think Lilith needed it. She never had parents, well not like us. I don’t know I just think it is good for her.” I stared at my brother. He may think it is good, but I knew I would never trust the woman. “You know Lilith wants her to meet the boys.” I said and Noel seemed to act like that was normal. “How is Kali doing with not shifting?” Noel asked. I smiled. “Great actually Axel told me she is acting like a regular wolf, not a Draco. Apparently, she is not so crazy, he thinks it is because Lilith is pregnant.” Noel nodded saying “Makes sense.” We sat there sipping the scotch when a familiar mind link came into my mind.

I looked at Noel and said, “Well apparently dad came.” Noel sunk lower into the cushion when my father walked into the office. He looked around the room. I was surprised he even listened and wore a tux. “As much as I think your mate is vulgar at least she is considerate.” He said before he made his own scotch and took one of the chairs. I knew Lilith invited him and with the weather she had to send someone to deliver it which meant they had to trudge through snow. I nodded at my father as he sipped the scotch. “At least you kept my bar in here.” He said and I was silent.

Noel perked up and said, “Dad Lilith is pregnant.” I glared at him. I should have been the one to tell him that. For the first time in years, I saw him smile. It honestly was disturbing. He got up and hit stuck his hand out. I stood and shook his. “Congratulations, I am proud of you.” I turned to Noel who looked just as confused as I was. “Thanks dad” We let go and went back to sitting. Suddenly the news made my father act more like his old self it was fucking weird. “Now you said she is only part shifter does that mean the pregnancy is different? When is she due? What is the sex? Is she doing, okay?” I mind linked Noel. “Who knew all I had to do was knock up my mate to pull him from his asshatness.” Noel tried not to laugh.

“Lilith is having a human pregnancy so not seven months like full shifters, but nine. She is due in the summertime. The sexes are male. She is...” My dad cut me off. “Sex’s? Does that mean she is having more than one baby?” I nodded and his smile grew more. Noel mind linked me. “Okay he is freaking me out.” I agreed. “I never knew shifters could have more than one baby at a time, it has to be because she is only half shifter, but this is amazing.” Yeah, not the reason but I didn’t plan on telling him that. “Okay so how is she doing?” He asked again. Noel answered. “She likes sugar way too much now.” My dad laughed. “Your mother craved spicy things with you Noel.” I was shocked.

My father mentioned our mom. What the hell was going on. “Who knew he just needed to know you were carrying on the line and he would go back to being a dad?” Noel mind linked me. “Why didn’t he do this with Ellen when she had kids?” Noel shrugged. “I can’t believe I am going to have three new grandbabies.” my dad announced. “Dad, you do have grandchildren.” I told him. He didn’t comment on that at all but skipped over it. “You carried on the line I am so proud of you. I don’t know how you convinced her to have babies but well-done Eric.” I said “Dad, it was an accident.”

My dad laughed. “So was Noel, but you did it that is what is important. You know that is the most important thing an alpha can do. You carried along the alpha line. I was worried last time I saw you, but it seems you proved me wrong. Well done. So, tell me when can I see my daughter in law, where is she?” Noel was trying to keep his mouth closed at the strange antics of my father. “She is getting ready right now, but dad you know you do owe her an apology right.” He turned his head as if he didn’t know what I was talking about. “You insulted her last time. You need to tell her your sorry.”


He didn’t respond to what I said at all. “Who the fuck knows if he will.” Noel mind linked me. “Do you have names picked out yet Eric for your sons, also how is that going to work. Is the first born the one who will be alpha or what?” He asked. I responded. “Lilith and I have been talking about it. We are thinking all three of them will be both Alpha and Beta, I think. They all will have the Alpha gene so it makes sense that all three of them are the Alpha and there will be no reason for a beta position with three of them.” I said and my father nodded. “That makes sense, will they all be called alpha?” I shrugged. “I suppose so,” He nodded and asked again “So names?” I smiled. “You will have to wait on that information. We have not told anyone yet and don’t plan to until they are born.” I spoke.

In truth Lilith and I were still thinking on that. She had been thinking they should be named after scientist. I liked the idea, but we had not exactly picked which ones they would be named after. “Well, are they identical triplets?” My dad asked. I shrugged. I knew they weren’t, but I didn’t want to explain how I knew that. “Well whatever the case, I am so happy for you and for this pack.” My dad said and both Noel and I nodded.
