Lilith
I knocked on the metal garage doors. I knew someone would be there this morning. There was always someone here at the car garage. With all the valuable cars in the warehouse behind the shop. Soon the door next to the garage one opened and Marcus stuck his head out. His floppy red hair his signature look.
“Lilith what are you doing here? Do you have a car for us?” He asked looking around. Of course he would think that. Marcus was involved in crime, but not to the caliber of myself or the others who worked under Rob. He just worked on cars, some were not stolen, and some were. He was not involved in the selling, but he knew about it and did some of the work on them as asked.
“No, Marcus. I am actually here to buy.” His eyebrows raised. That must have surprised him. “Get in here, we are not open right now and you know that.” I moved and came in. He walked in through the little lobby to a few lawn chairs that were in the actual bay. He sat down and I took the one next to him. “You want to buy a car?” I nodded. “You know they are luxury cars” I scowled and said. “Yes Marcus of course I know that. You know that I am the one who brings in some of them.” He nodded picking up his energy drink and sipping on it.
“How are you planning on buying one. No offense but Rob takes a lot of the money you earn. And I mean no offense, but you have never been rich?” I hated when the guys from the gym brought up Rob. Like he had not given them a place to run their shifter side. Not like he let them use his gym without a membership. Or the fights that they fought in, and how that brought them more income. But I ignored that comment about him taking my money.
I never had a problem giving Rob the majority of it. He had expenses at the gym and the fact he let so many shifters in the city come there for free he needed some help, even with all the crime he needed it. He had foster kids at all the times. I owed everything to Rob, and I thought what he did was amazing, so I helped him in the way I could. Besides before Eric I still was meeting my needs so why wouldn’t I give him the rest. Kali said in my head “We still have the Rolex.”
I smiled. True that would be a big pay day for me. “I have the money trust me, now what do you got?” I assured Marcus. “You know I don’t sell the cars.” I nodded. Of course I knew that. “Yes, I know that. But you can show me what is in stock can’t you?” I asked. He looked around. “I am supposed to be watching the shop.” I rolled my eyes. “Marcus we both know the value is in the warehouse out back that is where the money is. You are here to watch that, not the shop.” He bit his lip, he knew I was right.
“Fine, but Lilith I really don’t think you have the money for any of it. And you know there is no financing.” I nodded. “Marcus I wouldn’t be here if I had to finance a car. You act like I don’t know how things work.” He shrugged and rose grabbing his Monster from the small table in-between the chairs. “Fine.”
He took a minute to make sure everything was secure before we walked out the back and he locked up again and we entered the warehouse. It too had a shit ton of locks and even a pin on the steal metal door. Marcus hit the switch, and the place lit up. I had never been in here. I brought the cars or bikes I stole to the front, and they shuffled the vehicle into the garage and shut the door to close it off from the outside. My eyes wandered over all of it taking it all in. There were several cars. How many people were stealing cars in the city? I brought in maybe one a month, but this was a lot.
I wondered if it took a while to move them. “Impressive yeah?” Marcus asked and I could only nod as I was in shock. I began to look around. I didn’t recognize any of the cars or motorcycles. None of these I had stollen I thought. But then my eyes landed on a black Maserati. I looked at the thing. I had brought one in two months prior. But it had been cherry red, this one was black. “Yeah, you brought that one in. I was the one who painted it black and, we changed the interior it was that red that matched the outside.” Marcus said. My hand ran over the car.
When I had stolen it, I took it for a very long joy ride until I brought it here. I remember I saw it outside a small Starbucks. It was the oddest thing. I couldn’t help myself and rushed to get it out of the parking lot. It had been in broad daylight, and I just couldn’t help myself, or more like Kali couldn’t stop pushing for me to do it. But the second I got behind the wheel I screamed racing out of the little lot.
“I will take it, Marcus.” He looked at me like I was insane. “Lilith this car is like 200,000 dollars or more.” I shrugged.” I am sure I can bring it down. I mean how many cars have I brought you guys over the years. Think about the money I have brought you guys.” He sighed. “Lilith that may be true and even if you brought it down, how are you going to pay for it?” I glared at him. “I am getting tired of you bringing up my money.” I snapped and he raised his hands.
He knew I could hurt him if I want. Everyone who went to Rob’s knew what I was capable of. “Okay, let's say you could buy it. How do you expect for it not to get stolen? Huh, the places you go in the city are not exactly safe as far as crime?” He asked and I just laughed. “What?” Marcus asked. “You think those of us who steal the cars are taking them from the ghetto?” I asked and he shrugged. “No, we aren’t, we go to the business district, we go to the rich part of town. Trust me I know. There is so many millionaires in the city that if you are in the right area, you have your choice of luxury vehicles. It is the locked parking garages that are the hardest to get into.”
I continued. “If this car is seen in the bad part of town the Neiborhood would know that it belongs to someone running a crime ring. It will be perfectly safe. Even I know that. The only time I have ever stolen a car in this part of town was at the last fight because I knew who it belonged to. So, no it is not a risk, no one is going to steal a car they think belongs to a criminal enterprise. Besides I don’t even live in the city anymore and no one will steal it in my pack.”
He raised his eyebrows. “Now that you are bringing that up, I actually have questions about that?” I looked at him, I had forgotten that Jax had invited a few of the guys from Rob’s to come the upcoming weekend. “We can talk about it while we wait for your boss, seeing as you don’t sell the cars.” He looked a little impressed and spoke. “Well alright then.” I smirked and we left the warehouse. Kali was screaming in my head about how excited she was. “Come on let’s go back to the garage.” I nodded and followed.
We sat back down waiting for his boss to get there. “Okay you have questions, shoot Marcus.” He looked at me pushing his red hair back. What is it like there, like I know there is female shifters, is there a lot that don’t have boyfriends?” He asked. “I think so. I don’t know the pack that well, yet. Even though I am their Luna. But.” Before I went on Marcus interjected. “Luna?” He said.
I nodded. “Yeah, I am sure Jax told you he is the Alpha that means he runs the pack, kind of like what Rob does, but he is stronger than other shifters. He is the one in charge of the everyone. But since I am his mate.” Again, I was cut off. “What the hell is that?” I rubbed my temples and then had to explain the mate bond to him and what it meant. “So, I help run it, though since I am still in school, all I really do is run the pack training.”
Marcus laughed. “You are training them? They will be strong then, you are a fucking beast.” I smiled and Kali was all happy at the comment. “Thanks, they need some work.” Shit, I didn’t mean to say that. “But, um keep that between us. I don’t know why but Jax and Noel don’t want Rob to know much about the pack and that includes its location. I don’t see why but.” Marcus interjected again. “That is because Rob is a psycho.” I glared at him. “Look I am sorry Lilith, but he is. Of course you don’t see it, being his golden girl, but he is.” I rolled my eyes.
“Whatever anyways, you should know the female shifters there are weird. If you are just wanting your dick wet, think again. They are fridged.” He raised his eyebrows, and I nodded. “And don’t get me started about the way the dress or their lack of talking like normal people.” He drank more of his drink. “Still female shifters would be nice to at least meet. And I like this mate thing you were talking about, it sounds kind of cool.” I smiled thinking of Jax. “It is. Oh, and the woods are glorious to run in.” He was now smiling and looked excited.
“Lilith, I got ask why you never hung out with any of us at the gym, well besides Rob.” I shrugged and said. “I don’t know, some of you hit on me and I wasn’t interested so I just kept my distance. It isn’t like I hate any of you or anything like that.” He nodded and said. “Well, you are going to have to hang out with us this weekend.” I snorted and agreed. “I will say this, it will actually be nice to be there, with real people.” Marcus offered a smile, and I returned it.
