89. Ultrasound
Eric
It was almost instantaneous that Lilith fell asleep the second her head hit the pillow. She had been like a statue for three days, on that laptop. She didn’t even notice that time was passing. She didn’t know if I left the room or the fact that I had plugged the laptop in. It was starting to scare me. I realized there was a big problem when she didn’t react when I said Draco wolves or even when I said Blade Draco, her father’s name.
Noel had even come in the room, and she had no idea. Roxie and Marcus stopped by and nothing happened. Lilith had even gotten to the point she was not even aware when she was eating. Using one hand to feed herself and the other on the laptop. I had to snatch the thing from her she stopped even looking at me when I tapped her shoulder. I would say her name and nothing. I expected her to act a certain way when she came home.
But not this. And now she had locked herself in the bathroom. “I am not going Eric” She shouted through the door. “You fucking are, now open the goddam door. "I don’t know why she didn’t want to go to the doctor. “Go away and bring me my laptop.” She yelled. “No, you are not getting it back for a while.” I told her. “Then just go away I am not going.” She shouted again. What the hell was her aversion. “Lilith, I don’t want to break a door down in our house, but I will. Come on you need a checkup, and we need to see what is going on with that baby.”
She had not had any bleeding that I could see so I was sure she was still pregnant. “No” She screamed. This was getting ridiculous. “Do not be by the door, I am breaking it down.” I crashed into the thing and the door fell. Lilith was still in the clothes from the day before her hair back to being a tangled mess. “Lilith do you want to go out like that?” I didn’t care really; in all honesty her messy appearance was alluring. But I doubted she felt that way. “I told you I don’t need to see a doctor. I am fine.” She said with her arms crossed over her chest. “Lilith you are pregnant, you need to be seen okay, not to mention checking everything else out and I don’t know maybe talk to someone.”
Her face started to turn red. “I am perfectly fine; my body is healing just fine. My mind is fucking fantastic. No reason to see anyone.” She said firmly. Why was she not even touching on the fact she was carrying a child. “And the pregnancy?” I asked and she turned away from me, not responding. I sighed heavily. “Lilith we are going, you can’t stick your head in the sand and act like this is not happening because it is. Now are you going to get ready to go or are you coming like that?”
I was frustrated beyond belief. She was acting like a child. Axel spoke in my mind. “Eric she is 18. Not a child, but young, this is how they can act. Remember yourself at the age?” He made a good point. “I will be back in 10 minuets if you are not ready by then I will take you the way you are.” I said and turned to leave but I heard her moving. I turned around. Her face was fallen, and she looked panic. “Please don’t Eric.” What was she talking about? Was it the doctor she was begging me not to take her to? “Please get dressed, I will be back in ten minutes.” I told her again. But she grabbed my arm, now crying. “Eric don’t leave me, please, I hate being alone.”
So, this was what she was talking about. I turned to face her and wrapped my arms around her, and I heard her crying into my flannel shirt. I knew then Lilith needed to be seen by not just a doctor but a therapist. This was not her. I let her cry and pet her back reassuring her with touch. After a while she calmed down and spoke. “Allright I will get dressed just please stay in the room, okay?” I nodded and she went and got on clothes. I reminded her. “Babe it is snowing today.” It was going to be a long winter. It was still fall, though late in the season and it already was snowing like every other day.
Lilith walked out she looked better. Her face was still bruised and the bite near her mouth didn’t look good, but she looked beautiful. She had on a long black sleeves, black leggings and socks showing above her winter boots with a big navy puffy vest on. Then a mating blue baseball cap on her head. Her hair that hell out the bottom of the cap looked brushed and she had in her hand sunglasses. Lilith must have seen my eyes falling on the glasses. “Snow reflects the sun. I don’t want to be blinded.” I nodded. I understood that, but I doubted she wanted to wear them for that reason.
I stood and grabbed her hand, and she put on her glasses as we walked out of the room. I assessed her. She was still stiff that was evident. I was sure staying in one position for days did nothing to help with the pain she had, if anything it made the problem worst. “We should eat before we go.” I said and Lilith responded with. “I am not hungry.” I didn’t say more and let that be. “Do you want to walk to the clinic or do you want to drive.” Lilith said, “I honestly don’t give a shit.” Okay then we would walk. I figured being outside would be good for her.
It was only lightly snowing, and Lilith kept her hand in mine. Whenever she saw someone from the pack, she leaned into me a little more. I was glad no one approached us. I had sent out a pack message when Lilith got home, no one was to disturb her. I didn’t tell them the extent of everything other than she just was not feeling well and needed to rest. Noel of course was not a part of that restriction nor was her three friends from the gym and Roxie. But they had not reached out other than Roxie and Marcus trying to talk to her when she was in my office. I had been the ones to tell them to come.
I hoped they would snap her out of what was going on. I had been updating Ellen on everything going on and she kept offering to come and I told her it would be okay. But maybe I should take her up on it. Lilith loved my big sister, maybe it would do her some good. But I decided I would wait on inviting her. Maybe now that she was off her laptop, she would be more inclined to healing. We made it to the clinic, and Lilith stopped walking.
“Eric do we really have to go in there?” I turned to her. “What are you so scared of, is it about the wounds, or the baby.” Her hand tightened in mine. “You can tell me; I won’t be mad.” Lilith took a big breath. “I just I don’t know. I wanted a family with you, I did before Bowie came. But, I just don’t think I will be good at it. I mean I have not really had a good example; I am all kinds of messed up. I can’t even fight off one fucking dhampir. I can’t control my wolf. I am aggressive and crass. The thing will hate me. Everyone does in the beginning, and I can’t have a bad first impression on my baby he or she will never love me after that. And also, what if it is a Draco wolf. They will have problems forever. I am the worst genetically not only that, but I am half human what the hell will that do to the kid?”
“Lilith the baby will not hate you. And it is not true that everyone hates you in the beginning. I didn’t.” She glared at me. “I am your fucking mate, no shit you didn’t. But everyone else does.” I stared at her. “Noel didn’t neither did Roxie or the guys you grew up with, and even your old friend Juliet didn’t.” Lilith rolled her eyes. “Lilith the kid won’t hate you, and I don’t know about the half human thing. That is why we have a doctor he will figure it out. And just so you know, you are not the only one responsible for the kid. I mean even if you didn’t have good parents or parental figures I did.”
“My dad may be a dick now, but he wasn’t always. And my mom was loving and kind, strict but very kind. I have an idea how to do this, and it is not just us. The pack is family, and everyone helps one another. You know this, I mean look at the festival you through. All the women chipped in, that is community and that is family. And if the kid is a Draco wolf you will know how to help them. You will be able to teach them how to manage the urges and teach them how to be a good thief and make sure they get away with it. We can do this, I swear to you, we can do this.”
Lilith nodded, but it was obvious she was still unnerved by the whole thing. We were greeted by someone at the desk, and they looked at the two of us. “Luna, Alpha, nice to see you both.” Lilith was silent and kept her sunglasses on, I guess I was going to be the one talking. “Hey, good to see you again. We are here to see.” The woman cut me off. “I know who you came to see. We won’t keep you waiting follow me.” She stood and led us into one of the rooms. “Doctor will be in a sec.” I told her thankyou and she shut the door, and it was just Lilith and me.
We didn’t wait long when the doctor came in. “Luna you are looking better, but I can already see you didn’t keep your stitches dry. You know there will be a scar?” Lilith didn’t respond but nodded. “All right is there anything that is hurting more than it should.” My mate refused to speak. “She is doing better Doc, stiff but good. I do think she should be talking to a therapist though.”
Lilith shouted at me down the mind link. “I do not need a shrink!” I mind linked back “Yes you do.” She stopped the mind link. “Also, I would like you to do an ultrasound and check on things and see how it is going or if there is any kind of problem.” I spoke. The Doctor moved promptly and much to my mate's dismay and my own, he did a transvaginal ultrasound saying, “It was early, and this was the best as far as ultrasounds went.” Lilith was cursing me out over mind link until he turned the screen so we could see. “What are we looking at?” I asked and he pointed to three black dots. “Looks like triplets.”
