97. Sickness
Lilith
Eric and I didn’t do anything that night. Kali’s words of encouragement did nothing to soothe my fears. I hated the idea of my kids fighting to the death in some sick kind of battle. “Lilith, stop worrying about it, you are part human, and Eric is not a Draco wolf, therefore your kids will not be fully Draco wolves, why on earth would they kill each other. Besides maybe it is something they are encouraged to do. Eric and you won’t encourage that.” Kali told me.
She was right, I could hope at least. I turned to face Eric who was still sleeping soundly. My body tingled that feeling of wanting to be intimate was rising in me. But suddenly my stomach changed from butterflies to nausea, I bolted from the bed to the bathroom, accidently slamming the door behind me. I made it in time as my stomach reeled. I was tired of this. I felt someone come up behind me and hold my long black hair. A large hand rubbing my back. “The book I read said this should fade in the second trimester.” Eric said as I retched again.
Great I was living with a midwife here. Kali spoke in my head. “Be grateful he is doing his research you haven’t done any, you couldn’t even listen to at your doctor's appointment.” She was being a bitch. God, why the fuck did I want her in my head again. I should have just been happy with nine months of silence and no shifting. My stomach contracted again making me sick. “Serves you right for talking to me like that.” Kali said smugly. My stomach finally calmed down and I felt better. I sat down on the bathroom floor sweaty from heaving up my dinner last night.
I knew I needed to brush my teeth, but I needed to breath a bit first. Eric looked at me. “You feeling, better?” I shrugged. I didn’t good that was sure, but better a little. “What are you doing today?” Eric asked. I looked up at him. He was standing above me. “I think I will hang out with Roxie, maybe go into town.” He gave me a look. “Is she driving?” I rolled my eyes. “I am perfectly able to drive, never you mind. Anyways she wants to get some stuff for the baby.” I told Eric.
He nodded. I could see he was trying to hide his grin. “I don’t know why you find this so amusing?” He shrugged. I knew I was being a pain in the ass, it was normal, wasn’t it? Anyways, I knew I still needed to apologize for my snappiness. He didn’t deserve it. I should save it for other people. He helped me off the floor and I walked to the sink grabbing my toothbrush. “I would like you to take Noel with you.” I stared at him. With my toothbrush in my mouth, I said “Not happening” I rinsed and spit. I didn’t need a bodyguard. “Lilith, both you and Roxie are pregnant, you need to take someone.”
I stared at him. I had come back to reality and was no longer feeling like I needed constant protection. With that freedom coming back to me I didn’t want to have a bodyguard. “Eric, I am not going to the city okay, I don’t need anyone. Plus, I want time with my friend, and I want it fucking alone.” I leaned in with my mouth now smelling fresh and kissed him.
It was not a small peck on the lips or cheek it was a real kiss. I stood on my tippy toes and had my arms wrapped around his neck. Our lips pressed together. I had no plans to make out at this point it was too early for all that with my stomach having been so sour. Eric’s hands and arms wrapped around me. I pulled away. “I will be fine, okay, trust me on that.” He nodded with a bit of hesitation. “Is supposed to snow again today?” I asked. I couldn’t believe this fall was so cold. But then again it was always cold once the season changed. Thanksgiving and Christmas were coming up. An idea popped in my head. “Hey, can I throw a big thanksgiving dinner for the pack?” I asked Eric while I riffled through our closet.
“To your first question, we are having more snow this afternoon, as for the thanksgiving dinner, do you not know what day it is?” I had no idea. I had been so busy not paying attention to anything to closely. “No, I don’t” He peeked into the closet. “Lilith it is the 30th of November, Thanksgiving passed.” My mouth fell open. “What? Why didn’t you tell me, and why didn’t we celebrate it.” He turned his head. “Lilith we never celebrate Thanksgiving. We were here before the pilgrims.” I rolled my eyes. “I still like sweet potatoes; we could have had them.” I mumbled. “Did you celebrate it growing up?” Eric asked “Yes, well kind of Missy made sweet potatoes and Jim fried a turkey. I hate them but it was the only day a year they didn’t seem to scream at me. They always had a party, and I was able to eat their food. Come to think of it, Rob never did anything for Thanksgiving either. Must be a human thing.” I heard Eric snort.
“Do you guys do Christmas?” I asked. “Of course everyone does Christmas.” I smiled. “Then I am going to throw something for Christmas.” Eric looked at me while I pulled on my thick leggings. “Lilith are you really up for that, I mean in your condition.” I glared at him. “I have to do something. I have one test left for school and I am fucking done, what else do I have going on? I am knocked up, can’t train the way I want, and have no other plans at the moment so why not?” Eric didn’t object and I began on my face. I had taken the bandage off when we were in the car yesterday. I looked at the small holes. I rubbed the cream on that Ellen gave me. It was getting less obvious at this point.
I had not worn makeup since I came home. I wondered if the bite had faded enough to be hidden. It was worth a shot and began putting it all on. To my surprise it was hardly noticeable. A pimple would be more visible. I smiled at my reflection; I looked like myself. I had on dark eyeliner and smoky eyeshadow. My skin looked perfectly pale. My long straight back hair fell perfectly. I walked back into the room and Eric was staring at me. He couldn’t see any bruising with my clothes on. I looked down and as I expected he was starting to get hard. I gave him a wink and walked past him. Play it cool Lilith I told myself. When I got home maybe just maybe I would be feeling that stiffened cock.
I came across Noel. He stopped and did a double take. “Hey Noel.” He looked at me surprised. “You look like yourself.” He said and I nodded. “Where you heading?” I raised my eyebrow. “I am going out with Roxie.” I spoke. “Do you want me to come.” I shook my head. “Nah, we are good, but hey maybe tomorrow you want to play pool?” He seemed shocked by my invitation. Lately I only hung out with Roxie or Eric. Not that Noel and a few others had not tried to give me some company. “Why not when you get back?” He asked and I smirked. “Fucking hell, I have to use my ear plugs again, don’t I?” I laughed and walked away.
“Roxie I am waiting in our garage for you.” I mind linked her and soon enough she was on her way. She had a cute stomach. “Hi.” She said like she was the cheeriest person in the world. She looked at the cars and then back at me. “You are taking out your new toy, aren’t you?” She asked and I nodded my eyes getting big. She sighed. “I swear you could be related to my mate, when he built this thing, he took it for a test drive and when he came home it looked like he was high on cocaine.” I laughed. “Just please don’t crash with me in the car, okay?” I nodded. I was a better driver than that, even in snow and ice.
Once we out on the main road I put my foot all the way down on the accelerator and we were flying but the roads were curvy. I had to pull over and threw up again. “Luna?” Roxie called. I waved her off. I didn’t even get fully out of the car. I just pulled over unbuckled and opened the door. “Just give me a moment.” I said and she did. I finally felt better, and got back in. Thank fuck I didn’t eat breakfast that would have made it worse. “Okay I think maybe now is not the time to drive like I am in Nascar.” I said looking at my friend.
“I am sorry pregnancy is so awful for you.” Roxie said sincerely. I gave her a forced smile. I was just happy Kali was not complaining about me not driving like hell on wheels. I felt like a grandma as I drove the speed limit. It took longer to get to the town than it normally did, but that was because I was going so slow. “So, what are we getting again?” I asked Roxie. “Oh, I wanted to look for a glider. My mom gave me some money for it. Oh, that reminds me you will be getting an invitation to my baby shower soon.”
I nodded, it was so surreal I never really pictured myself doing this. Getting baby things and going to baby showers. What was I supposed to get? I had seen pregnancy in movies, but it never was a genre of movies I really watched. Maybe I should watch one, I think there is one called. What to Expect when you are expecting? Then again maybe I should just rewatch Rosemarry’s baby. That seemed more accurate for my life anyway. I was named after a Demon after all.
