26. Rolex
Lilith
School went smoothly and we planned on meeting Eric at the plaza. Noel was in the backseat of Juliet’s car. “So, I know I told you Juliet that Eric is my boyfriend.” I heard Noel scoff. He didn’t like it when I referred to his brother as that. Since being mates was so much more serious than the title of boyfriend. I had texted Juliet about Eric a little bit. Telling her I was with someone. She had been dying to meet him. I didn’t want to tell her too much, in front of Noel because I thought it would be weird. So mostly we texted about it.
“But I didn’t exactly tell you something about Eric.” I said to Juliet who had just turned down the radio to listen to me. “What do you mean? We have been texting about him all week, well among other stuff.” Juliet said but suddenly Noel jumped into the conversation. “You have been texting about your relationship?” I looked into the backseat at Noel. “Yes, she is my best friend of course I have been texting her about my boyfriend.” I almost cringed at the word.
Like Noel, I knew the mate bond was different than a boyfriend girlfriend relationship. I felt it. It was like he was the anchor that tied my soul to the earth, him being my earth now. I then faced forward again. “So, what about it?” Juliet asked. “Well, I kind of left out some things?” Her face pinched. “Like what?” I sighed. “He is older.” I said looking out of the window, not wanting to look at her reaction. “How much older?” I replied, “Just older.” I was not going to divulge that. There was no reason, I just wanted her to know so she didn’t freak when she met him.
It was obvious he would not look our age. It didn’t bother me in the slightest. I was an adult, and it was all legal. Not to mention he was gorgeous; I hoped his attractive everything would help distract my best friend from his age. “All I have to say is he had better not be as bad as your last boyfriend. That guy was as horrible as your role model.” I gave her the stink eye. I didn’t need that brought up now. Especially in front of Noel. Because just as I suspected Noel had questions which he began to ask. “Who is her ex?”
I wanted Juliet to say nothing. I didn’t want to know about Eric’s exes, or his past lovers and I planned to keep the only boyfriend I ever had to myself. But Juliet responded before I told her not to talk about it. These things were private between best friends. Just like all girl talk was supposed to be. “Bowie, he was a bit of an asshole. He worked for Rob, probably still does from jail.” I sighed. Now it was out there then Juliet said to me. “Isn’t he getting out soon Lilith?”
I just shrugged my shoulders. I had no idea when he was supposed to be released. He worked for Rob, that was true, but Rob never liked that I dated him. But I was 16 at the time, and I did what I wanted. I still do. “Well, anyways Noel, I didn’t like the guy, he was never good enough for Lilith. So, all I have to say is your brother better be good to her. Or I will gut you both.” I rolled my eyes as Juliet spoke. She could never gut either Noel or Eric. “How do you know Eric and I are brothers?” Noel asked. I responded. “I said we have been texting about him, of course I told her you were related.”
We finally parked and I told Eric we could meet outside of the waxing salon. There was a bench there in front and he could meet us. We arrived and I saw him sitting there with his phone out and looking at something on it. My heart bounced seeing him there, looking so casual. At the pack lands he always had a lot of responsibilities and he seemed more serious when we were there. But here he looked carefree. I stopped in my tracks looking at him admiring him. But Eric knew I was there, and he looked up from his phone and his brown eyes fell on me. He smiled and I felt like I would swoon.
I had come to feel this every day after school when I saw him waiting in the garage for me. I honestly had never experienced this kind of attraction. It was more than that though. I felt our personalities complimented each other. He was collected where I was the hot headed one. I liked that about us. I couldn’t wait until I didn’t have to be away from him all day. It was weird. We had not known each other for almost no time but the feelings were that strong. Noel walked up to him and was talking but I didn’t move. I just wanted to look at him.
“Lilith that is Eric, I take it.” Juliet snapped me out of my awe. I nodded and finally moved forward. Once I was close enough to my mate he reached out and pulled me to him. His arms wrapping around me. His large hand resting on my ass in my tiny cheer skirt, and he kissed me. I didn’t expect it to be so erotic since we were in public. Once Eric kissed me it was all consuming my body igniting for him. I felt him squeezing my ass. Then there was a loud cough and Eric pulled away. I tore my eyes from him to look at Juliet.
Her mouth was open in shock. I didn’t mean for that to happen. For it to be so intimate, but I had little control when it came to Eric. Noel broke the silence saying, “You think this is bad, we got home from school one day and I had to practically run from our garage because they began fucking.” My eyes glared at him. I had left out that I was living with them. Juliet shook her head shocked. Eric didn’t wait for her to make a comment and said, “Juliet nice to meet you, I am Eric, Lilith told me a lot about you.” Juliet was still staring “Juliet?” I said. She shook herself again pulling herself out of whatever made her freeze. “Nice to meet you. Yeah, Lilith told me about you.”
“Come on Juliet we can all hang out after the waxing.” She nodded and I grabbed her arm and led her into the little place. “He is freaking Hot Lilith.” She said quietly so the guys wouldn’t hear but I was sure they did. It only took about ten minutes and both of us came back out to find Noel and Eric looking serious as they talked. “Pedicures now?” Juliet asked. Eric looked like the idea sounded horrible. Noel looked positively distraught. I didn’t want to make my mate bored, so I said. “Juliet let’s go grab some food and maybe go look at some stuff. I think that would be better.” She turned her head saying, “Um, okay?” She it sounded like she didn’t want to change plans. Eric threw his arm around me as we walked. I could feel Juliets eyes on me the whole time. While Noel seemed to care less.
We went to one of our favorite cafes. As we were standing in line the couple in front of us screamed money. Kali said “He is wearing a Rolex; his wallet has to be stacked. Take the watch and after he pays the wallet. I want it.” It was a normal thing; stealing was not bad to me at all. I had no remorse over it. It wasn’t as bad as other things Kali had done in the past or some of her desires. Eric didn’t miss it, as I moved a little and the man’s watch disappeared from his wrist. But I had nowhere to put it. I didn’t have my backpack. “Put it your mates' pocket.” I did as Kali said. Eric turned to me.
He didn’t look too pleased but didn’t say anything. I noticed neither Noel nor Juliet had seen, only Eric. We ordered and I got my usual. “I need to use the restroom.” I said and Juliet said, “Want me to come with you.” I just shook my head. But as I walked, I ran into the couples table and conveniently into the guy. “I am sorry lost my footing.” I put on a fake smile. I had slipped my hand into the man's pocket even while he sat. He didn’t have a wallet but a money clip I grabbed. I slid it behind my back.
I knew no one from my own table would know. They couldn’t see my back and I doubted they would have seen my sleight of hand. I was good at this. “You are good it was an accident.” I smiled at the wealthy couple. Their clothes telling me they were vain with the designer brands. Kali was laughing as we backed away. “These people are so stupid” I heard her cackling in my head. She always got a kick out of this sort of thing. I didn’t really have an opinion on it, seeing as I did it so long and often. Kali spoke again, “This totally makes up for the fact it is a Friday game day.” She hated when I wouldn’t let her out for her run.
But with Kali it was a bit of a switch off. She revealed that I stole and probably the fact I had taken not just a watch that was probably worth 20,000 dollars but a money clip that I was sure was stacked. She was feeling great, and I could tell by her excitement in her voice in my head as she said “We are not turning any of this over to Rob, what should we do with it? Sell the watch and buy a fast car, or should we let Eric keep the watch and use the money for something fun. Oh, I am so proud of you. And tonight, all eyes are going to be on us as you rock in front of all of them.”
I knew Kali hated that I didn’t run her nights there were games, but she loved that all eyes were on me at times, and her in turn. We did share a being despite being different. She was a vain thing, if she had control all the time of my human form, I doubt Polly would be the queen bee of our school. But I gave Kali just enough freedom to keep her calm and let me have myself. I didn’t even know if it was possible for her to take over my body in human form, but I didn’t want to ever find out. It was already hard enough sometimes to fight off her impulses, but it had gotten much better over the years. Our routine of compromise had been carefully calculated. Rob had helped me develop ways to pacify her, so I maintained control. I would forever be indebted to him for that.
