54. Corrupting

I loved Erics cars, and I understood the thrall of driving a classic muscle car. Noel was in love with Eric’s pride and joy, but there was something else that caught my eye just the other day. Ellen was standing there with her arms crossed when I exited the packhouse and then Roxie she was playing on her phone. “You guys ready to go?” I asked them and Ellen gave me the stink eye in which I flashed her a white teeth smile.

“Yeah.” Roxie said and Ellen nodded, I don’t know why she was so bothered by Eric and I being affectionate. “Hopefully you can pull that stick out of her ass today” Kali said, and I had to fight my laugh. “Well come on then, or actually I can pull the car out before we go.” Ellen spoke up. “Henry is coming to for protection.” Roxie tried not to laugh. I could tell she was holding it in. I looked past Ellen to see Herry in the shadows leaning against the wall. Ellen looked at me. “I don’t think that is necessary but if you insist, I don’t care.”

She gave me a tight smile. “I will pull the car around.” I said again and walked to the massive garage that was close to the packhouse. It resembled more of a plane hangar than anything. I guess when you have more money than God, you can buy all the cars you want. I walked to the very far right of the garage to see what I had looked at the other day. “There you are my beauty.” I said to the shiny dark blue car. This thing was performance at its finest, BMW M3. It was fast reliable and sturdy. I had seen one of these bad boys in a street race a year ago and liked it then. Of course, that one was probability modified to exceed the electronic sensory and go at a speed considered unsafe by most people.

I didn’t think Eric would have made those modifications but from what I knew the base model could go easily to 175 mph. That is if Eric had not got a standard package but a performance one. I didn’t have to ask to know he had. He wouldn’t have ass it with his cars. I slide into the cool black leather. When I stared the car, a thrill shot through me at the sound of that powerful engine. “Oh, hell yes!” I shouted in the car. I was going to drive this thing. I couldn’t stop smiling as I pulled in front of the packhouse, and Roxie smiled at me. Ellen looked like she had a sour face as she got in the back seat.

A neutral looking Henrry followed her. Roxie got in the front with me. I waited for everyone to get buckled. I drove slowly asking Roxie to hook up my phone while I watched for pedestrians. I wouldn’t be driving fast until we hit the asphalt. Then it would be speed racer for me. She hooked up the phone for me and pulled out maps on her phone to direct me where we were going. Finally we got to the end of the dirt road. I turned on my music which of course was Boss Bitch by Doja Cat as loud as it could go. I looked at Roxie who looked a little intimidated. I smiled broadly. Then I looked both ways and she pointed to the opposite way from the city. I put my foot all the way down on the pedal and tried not to scream with glee.

Roxie was smiling and I laughed. I was sure her and I would become close. She seemed to like fun things. Ellen was screaming and I turned up the music even louder. I needed to drown out her voice. Song after song blasted all of them making me want to go faster. I saw Roxie swaying a few times and Ellen from the backseat looked terrified and annoyed. “Fuck her, she can’t handle a good time.” Kali said. I smiled and kept pushing the car to its limits. I decided that this was what heaven must be like. Open road and a fast car. I slowed slightly down as we approached the town. It was clean and I could tell this was a nice area. I didn’t turn down the music down as we pulled into the outdoor shopping area, and I found a spot.

I turned down my music and then the car. “Are you insane?” Ellen practically shouted at me. I turned and looked at her and shrugged and got out. Kali was laughing in my head. If anything, I was amusing. I got out and asked “So where are we going? I have never been here.” Ellen flipped her perfectly curled hair. This outdoor shopping center looked high end. “First, we are going to Nordstrom, you need some formal things. You are a Luna and with that you will be hosting things and going to formal events.” I nodded, as much as I didn’t really want formal things I understood they would be necessary in the future.

Ellen continued. “Also, we should get you a wedding dress, there is bridal shop here.” I stared at her like she was out of her mind. “Yeah, Ellen we are going to skip that shop, I am not engaged or anything like that and I don’t see the point of looking for a dress that is for a wedding that is not happening anytime soon.” She rolled her eyes. “Fine, but you should know it will be happening.” I wanted to be rude but bit my tongue. Surprisingly Kali said “I want to see you in a white dress, as much as I don’t like Ellen and her views, she is right. It will happen.”

Ellen led Roxie and I to Nordstrom, it was a huge department store. There was none of that in the city, just a bunch of boutiques. Henry was following us being silent. Did the guy never talk? “Come on Roxie, let's start with you. I grabbed her arm pulling her in a random direction. Ellen called out. “Lilith we are supposed to be helping you.” I didn’t respond but knew she was following behind us. We got to the women section, and I looked around at the formal attire. This all looked like it was for older businesswomen. Roxie was not old. She was in her twenties for fucks sake.

I finally found a section that looked right. I noticed it was for juniors, but the stuff was better than the women's section. These were actual clothes that a sane person would wear. I looked at Roxie and sized up her figure and began tossing clothes around. She would have a nice little wardrobe. I had her try everything on and approved of things and said no to things. I could tell some of the thing I had given her made her uncomfortable. Ellen was saying no to everything, but I didn’t care. “You are hot, okay now is the time to show it off. I know what I am talking about. Don’t listen to Ellen.” She gave me a weak smile but was okay in the end with what I picked.

“Now you Lilith.” Ellen announced. “Come with me.” I followed her back to the women section. Nothing she pulled I would ever wear, and I refused to have any of it purchased. Next was the formal gowns and I did the picking against Ellen’s instructions. I of course wandered off with Roxie while Ellen was browsing. “Let’s go find something fun.” I told Roxie and she laughed. “You are fun Luna, I mean you just always seem so comfortable in your skin and just being yourself.” She said and I turned to her as I pulled out some cool long sleeves. Winter would be here before I knew it. “Roxie, you have to be okay with yourself, you are always with yourself. If you don’t like yourself life would suck. About the confidence, I just don’t give a flying fuck about other opinions. I know who I am and I don’t see the point of trying to impress anyone, because like I said, I am always with myself and others aren’t.”

I got cool boots, I had to admit for such a swanky store this place had some cool things. By the time we made it to the perfume I was grinning and laughing with Roxie about ditching Ellen and Henry. She thought it was funny. She had been hesitant to suggest that she found it amusing but it was fun. I picked out a scent I liked where Roxie was straight up opposed to perfume. I wouldn’t die on this bridge. I was Ellen walking in our direction, and she looked mad. “Come on run.” I told Roxie and we booked it for the athletic section. Roxie's eyes got big.

She already knew what I planned. “Luna, I can’t dress like you for training. I smiled at her. “Yes, you fucking can.” She shook her head. “My mother would kill me if I wore some of stuff like you.” I laughed. “I am the Luna, and I command it.” She had a little smile. I could tell this outing was bringing out the real Roxie, that had been hidden by years of repression. This was fun and I was enjoying myself and Roxie seemed to be too. Finally, Ellen caught up. Her face was all pinched up. “How could you leave me?” She said hands on her hip. I stared at her. “Want to have fun with us. We are fucking awesome if you want to hand then I will dress you.” I smiled and she looked even more upset. “I got some things lets go somewhere else.”

I smiled and we got our bags that were completely full. I dragged them to Victoria Secret. I wanted them to have bright bras and get myself and Roxie more cute workout stuff. “Ellen is pink, just try it okay, no one will see it but your mate, and it will look good with your complexion.” I begged her. “Fine, if you promise not to ditch me again.” I nodded and she came back with a little smile. “Score a little corruption it can happen” Kali shouted in my head at the small victory. After she gave in a little, I managed to convince her on some more lounge wear that was fun and Pajamas and some cute under things. I was laughing. Okay this was so fun. I liked dressing people.

Maybe I should be a personal stylist, this was almost as fun as chemistry. We had lunch and got coffee and were actually having fun. “Henry let's see do you want something fun.” He looked at me quizzically. “Come on some cool socks?” I offered and Ellen said. “Oh, come on Henry, you could do with some color.” I was surprised and Roxie and I laughed, and Ellen joined in. All three of us got Henry some fun things. We finally finished and I had one last thing I thought would be corrupting. “Ellen you should drive, but only if you can keep go fast?” She shook her head, and I dangled the keys in front of her. “Loud music and fast cars, you will like it I swear.” She bit her lip but took the keys.
