108. The Truth Comes Out

Lilith

My mom opened the door, and she looked terrible her face was black and blue, and she was clutching her robe closed. “Lilith I am sorry I wanted to go out with you today, but I am not feeling to well, as you can see.” I stared at her that high I had been on from the freedom was now gone. “What happened?” She hesitated and then I heard Jim in the background. “Who is there?” I looked at my mother who looked scared. That fucker did this to her. “Lilith don’t, you have no idea how he can be?” I gently moved past her.

“That rich prick knock you up?” I stared at him. This fucking asshole, what was it with my life. Did every man I grew up around have to be such a psycho? “At least you are better at men than your mother. She got raped by some dog and had you. Did you know that a fucking that, it was lucky I took pity on her and hunted that thing down. It is a good thing she named you after a demon, your father and his friends certainly were.” My eyes got huge. Jim killed my father, or did he just kill someone he thought was my father. “Lilith I can call you later and we can talk about this, really it is best if you just go.” My mother tried to get me to leave.

Jim snarled at her and raised his hand like he would hit her again, but I grabbed his wrist. “You will not touch her again.” He pulled his arm from me. “Oh yeah and what are you going to do about it. You are just a fucking whore. You think because some rich fucker forgot a condom it makes you have some kind of power. That his money will somehow help you here, get over yourself. You always were a stupid cunt.” I snarled at him, and he laughed picking up his liquor bottle and taking a swig. “Lilith you should go now.” My mother said weakly. Oh, I was going to go. But I would be back.

I left slamming the door behind me. That fucker did not deserve to live after what I had seen him do to my mom. I grabbed the gun I planned to throw out later and loaded it. I marched right back into the house. “Lilith what are you.” I held up the gun and shot Jim right in the face. It was messy not like the clean shot on Rob or the other shifters I had done it in the center of his fucking face. I looked at my mom who looked shocked. “Lilith what did you do?” She looked scared. I turned to her. “Did you know my father was a shifter?” I asked her point blank.

“A what?” She asked. “A person who turns into a wolf, a very large wolf.” She looked around nervously. “Mom, do you know?” She nodded embarrassed. “Okay get a bag together pack and fast.” She looked confused. “Pack everything you can and fast. I will come help soon okay.” She didn’t move. “Mom now!” She nodded and slowly moved; I knew she had to be hurting. Fucking hell, what would I do with the body? Kali said to me “Get it to the truck and toss him out, like you planned to do with the gun.” Okay that was a good plan. I called out to my mom. “Mom I am not leaving just grabbing the truck.” I walked calmy out of the house and tried to look nonchalant as I got back into the truck. I got in and backed it down the driveway. But a fucking car was in the way. Jim’s fucking car. I just had to get the bed out of view. I looked around it was far enough back. I put it in park and went back into the house.

I grabbed one of the ugly as blankets that was in the living room. But it wasn’t big enough. “Use the rug in the kitchen” Kali said. I did and worked. Now I just had to drag him out. I pulled him out the back steps. “Why did you have to be so fucking heavy you shit bag.” I finally got to the bed of the truck. I looked around and saw no one. Lucky that was what I was. I sighed and had a hard time getting him in the bed of the truck. I needed a tarp. No one could see the fucking rolled up rug. I found one in the back tiny ass shed and started putting it on. “Our mother needs help Lilith.” Kali said. Oh right, yes. I went back inside and upstairs.

I began to help her. “Lilith what are we doing. Why do I have to pack?” She said in a soft voice. “Mom just hurry up.” I said and she continued. She had six bags. “Great go get in the truck and give me the keys. I will lock up after I put your bags in the truck.” She looked so sad and confused. “Mom please.” She nodded and slowly moved. I got the bags in the bed of the truck and the tied down the tarp and only then did I lock up. “Fire kills everything Lilith.” Kali said. “No, can’t do that, two fires one day, I can’t do it. It is the middle of winter. With the snow and moister it will be suspicious Kali.” I told my wolf. She let it go.

I started the truck and calmly pulled out and onto the road. “Lilith you killed him.” My mother said. “Yes, I did.” I confirmed it. She was quiet until we got out of the city. “Good, I am glad he is dead. You could do what I couldn’t.” I kept my face neutral. I sighed. “No where to dump a body?” I asked her. She was quiet again as I drove on the road. “Yes I do actually.” “Okay tell me where to go?” She nodded and we drove with her giving me directions. “Okay just up here.” She said and I slowed down. “Where are we?” She looked at me. “It is a quarry that is no longer in use.” Great that would do.

I turned off the truck and was unbuckling. “Do you need help?” She asked. “Mom you are pretty beaten up, I don’t think you should be doing much. Not to mention I don’t want you to be involved in the crime.” I said. “No, I am going to help.” I nodded and we both got out. I removed the tarp and opened the bed of the truck. Both of us pulled him out. With her help it was easier to drag the rug he was in. We finally got to the edge. “Will he float?” My mom asked. “No, he will sink the rug will weigh him down and when he bloats the rug will keep him down.” I said and she nodded. I shoved the rug over the edge. We both watched as it sunk under the water.

I then took a seat near the edge of the massive drop off we just kicked Jim’s dead body over. My mom sat next to me. “So, you knew he was a shifter.” She nodded. “You never told me.” She let out a long breath. “How was I supposed to. You never would have believed me.” I bit my lip. “Did he rape you in his wolf form?” I asked. I didn’t know if I wanted to know. “Yes and no. He was a man when he started and a wolf by the end.” I nodded. “Are you like him?” She asked and I looked at her. “Yes” “Your fiancé?” I nodded. “They are not all like that. Blade Draco, that is who is my father, he and his pack are twisted. Other shifters are not like that.” She was quiet. “I never knew his name.” I nodded. “Did Jim really kill him?”

She bit her lip now. “I don’t know, he said he did. He got the intel apparently from some criminal he knew from the fights he went to. Went on and on about people who turned into black wolves and stuff and then one day he said he killed the demon who attacked me and his friends. That was while you were in foster care.” My mouth fell open. It was Rob, he did it. He orchestrated everything. I knew Jim went to Rob’s fights that he put on. Rob knew where my father was.

Was this all some big ruse was my father really dead? Who was it then that Eric had the pack watching. Obviously, they were Draco Wolves but was my father even there. Or was it just what remained of his pack. Both Eric and I told those who found them not to get close. That it was too risky to be seen. Then there was the photo Rob had given me. The man he said was my father was an older one. None of this made sense. If my father wasn’t alive why would Rob even want me?

Kali said to me “We need to talk to Eric and Axel about all of this. But, as far as Rob wanting us, if our father was dead and you were his only child then maybe he wanted to marry you and then use your claim as his daughter for him to step in as alpha. We are female so we can’t be alpha but if you showed up with Rob he may have had a chance to their alpha. But again, that is just what I think. Axel and Eric will know more, they grew up in a system like that and we didn’t”. She had a point. My mom spoke. “What are we doing Lilith?” I looked at her.

“You are coming to live with me of course.” Her eyes got big. “You mean with people who turn into wolves?” I could hear the tremble in her voice. “None of them look like Blade except my wolf Kali she is all black, but she is much much smaller, than the others. You will be safe there, and honestly, I think you will like it. I have a massive house with lots of rooms and space. People that cook and clean. We call it the packhouse. But it is nice.” She was quiet again. “When can I go back home?” She asked. “Give it a few weeks, a gun going off in our neighborhood is not unusual, but I just want to make sure you stay long enough that the whole thing blows over.” She looked out. It was dusk at this point.

“We should get going, driving on the road at night with ice will take fucking forever.” I said standing up which was getting harder everyday with my large stomach. My mothed jusrt as slowly with her bruises. “You know I never didn’t want you. I told Jim about the rape. We were only dating at the time. He got me to try to abort you, but that failed, and I was relieved. Then you came and I know I told you I hated seeing your face but that was not even close to what I felt. You see Jim well; he knew where you came from what you are. At least he suspected it. It was best while you were in the house that I push you away and be cruel. He saw it as you suffering, which to him was better than you having a quick death.” I looked at her. “Why didn’t you leave him, this is not the only time he has hit you?” I asked. “If I left, he would find us and you would be dead.”
