71. Visit From Juliet

Lilith

I sat on the front porch of the packhouse leaning into Eric. Juliet was going to be pulling up soon. Noel mind linked us saying they were close. We had a long talk last night the three of us about everything Eric had learned about Rob. He really was a fucking shit bag. I was glad to be free of him. Eric and Noel seemed more concerned about his ability to come here and find us and unleash hell. I didn’t like I knew who had working for him, they were a bunch of pussies. The only real threat I considered was Bowie, and only if he was on blood.

I knew I was as good enough to go head-to-head with Rob, as much as I hated it, I was his carbon copy when it came to physical abilities. I knew that this Alpha Noah had said he was mated, and he thought him responsible for killing his daughter. I didn’t see that as an actual plausible thing. No one would do that to their mate. I knew how that bond felt. Noal had said nothing on it.

They wanted to increase security and a bunch of other stuff, but I told them that wouldn’t be necessary. They were going off old information and as much as I hated Rob, I didn’t think he would be stupid enough to attack us here. This alpha Noah said he was smart; well, it wouldn’t be to attack her. He didn’t know the numbers of grey crest pack. Nor did he know the skill they had, and for what just me. No, he wouldn’t. If he wanted to get me from here it would be covert, he would not cause a war to break out. That was not his style. I brought this up to both Noel and Eric.

I told them about a massive gang war that happened a little over a year ago. Some people wanted Rob to join, but he wouldn’t. He said to me, “War is for stupid people, if you want something Lilith you go in the back door, and take it before anyone notices, then get far from it and to safety and revel in the prize. War makes people different, they can’t think straight in the moment, which is understandable, if you need something done whether it is to eliminate foes or steal or anything nefarious you do it covertly.” When I told Eric and Noel his words, it seemed to get them to shut up about locking this place down.

Eric was even considering not allowing Juliet to come today because of all of this, I watched as Noel had agreed with him, saying it was a risk. I told them to shut up and now she was on her way here. Kali said in my head “I love when get our way.” I tried not laugh at her words as I leaned further into Eric. Noel had gone and picked her up, seeing as I never went into that city. Finally, I watched the black jeep pull up, one of the several cars from the garage. I watched Noel run around to open her door. I smiled big and ripped myself from Eric and ran to her.

She opened her arms, and I practically tackled her to the ground. “Well fuck, guess you missed me.” I nodded frantically against her shoulder. Reluctantly I pulled away and got a good look at her. “Where are your glasses?” I asked and she smiled. “I got contacts” I turned my head. “I thought you hated putting your finger into your eye, you said it was gross.” I asked and she shrugged saying “It still is, but I just wanted to try something different.” I smiled and nodded I could understand that.

“Come on let me show you around.” Juliet followed me as we walked in. She stopped in front of Eric who was standing with Noel on the porch. “Hey Eric, nice to see you again.” Juliet said. She almost seemed intimidated. “Hello and it is nice to see you too.” He said and I rolled my eyes at all the formality, I grabbed Juliets arm and pulled her into the packhouse. I turned to face My mate and his brother. “Noel, this is my time with her so go fuck off.” I said and slammed the front door shut. Juliet turned and looked at me and I gave her a smug smile. “God, I fucking love being a bitch.” I spoke and Juliet laughed. Her eyes were looking around at everything. “Okay this place is seriously incredible.” She said as I showed her all of it.

I dragged her up to the top story and pointed out Noels room as we went up to mine and Eric’s. I opened the door, and she looked around. “I always thought my room at my house was impressive, but this is freaking insane.” I laughed as I crashed into my bed. “I know right.” I said. She sat down on the bed. “I miss you at school.” Juliet said. “I miss you, but school not so much. You know I am doing it online which by the way makes it a fucking breeze. It takes so little time with no one babbling on or having to switch classes.” She smiled “My parents would never go for that, they already think I am to shy. You know when they met Noel, they almost shit a brick.”

I raised my eyebrows. “I didn’t know he met them.” Juliet giggled. “Well yeah of course he did, he is my boyfriend.” I couldn’t picture that happening. Noel was a shifter and up until he began to come with me to school, he had never been around humans really. It just seemed so odd to me. I wondered if Eric knew that. “So, I got to ask Lilith are you pregnant?” I made a sour face. “Hell No! Why would you even ask that?” I looked at her funny. Juliets face looked so serious.

“I don’t know, I mean you moved in with Eric like super-fast, I didn’t even know until you texted me about it. Which was weird, but I assumed it was because you didn’t like your house. You never had me come there so I figured it was pretty bad, especially considering that you hung with Rob.” I winced and she looked at me funny but then my face relaxed and she went on. “Anyways I just figured you wanted to get out of there and this was your opportunity, so you took it. But then I saw you with Eric and I was like dam, she is straight up in love with him.” I smiled at that. “And you were still in school and doing sports, so I was like okay you’re good. But then you drop out of school.” I interjected. “Switched to online.”

She rolled her eyes. “Right online school, and now live her full time and have not come back to the city to even hang out. It seems weird and then let’s address the elephant in the room... your face.”

I was wondering when that would come up. Was that why she looked so weird at Eric, did he think he was responsible for the state of my busted-up face. “Did you get beaten up because you got pregnant, Lilith you can tell me.” I didn’t know why but I started laughing. Like really laughing and hard. “Lilith I am serious if you are in trouble let me help you.” Looking at her being all serious over something so stupid made me laugh harder. “Lilith.” She whined I eventually controlled myself and stopped laughing. “No, Juliet I am not pregnant, and Eric would not beat me if I was. He is not an abuser. In fact, if anything he is overprotective, but not in a controlling way, a good way.” I spoke.

“Then why are you all battered up?” I bit my lip. What was the best way to say this without spilling everything. “You know how when I went to the gym, I sometimes would get kind of ripped up from boxing.” Fighting was a better word, boxing meant gloves, but I didn’t typically go into detail on that stuff with Juliet. Other than I was at a gym that specializes in combative fitness. “Yeah, I remember.” I nodded. “It is like that” I told her. That was not the case here, but it was close enough I thought. “Oh,” I nodded. “So, you found a new gym then? All the way out here?” I snorted. Of course that was her impression. But I just nodded. “Well, that must be nice, I know you liked that kind of thing, but I never could do that. I mean getting knocked around, yeah not my thing.” I laughed again.

“So, when are we going to do nails and waxing? I need one, you know.” I snorted; I knew what she was getting at. “We could go today? If you want, I know of a town close by it is nice and trust me the prices there are so much better than in the city.” I told her. “Who is going to drive us? I don’t have my car, and I figured it would just be the two of us hanging out, not that I am opposed to anyone coming with us.” I knew she was referring to Noel. “Juliet, I have my license, and you very well know it.” She nodded. “But you don’t have a car, and I have no plans to steal a car.” I tried not to laugh; she had no idea.

“I do actually, but it is being worked on right now, but I will just borrow one of Eric’s.” She tiled her head. “Okay you are so fucking different, but okay.” I nodded and got comfy. “It is early we can go in a little bit, no rush, we have all day.” She nodded. We began to joke and laugh. Juliet told me about the rumors of me leaving school, getting pregnant was the most popular one going around. Then there was the one about me in jail, and one that I had died. Ridiculous I thought, but entertaining none the less. “Do you love him?” Juliet finally asked. “Who? The Pilsbury dough boy? He is tasty that is for sure.” Juliet laughed and shoved my shoulder.

“No, Eric do you love him?” I looked at her, my face becoming so serious. “I do love him Juliet, more than anyone I have ever known, not that I have really loved that many people. But it is not like how the movies show it. It is deeper, more, you know. Like, I can just be authentically me, and I know there is nothing he doesn’t like, not just my looks but my mind, my being. I don’t know how to explain it other than our souls were meant for each other.” I gave her a soft smile.
