11. Packhouse
Eric Pov
“We are going to be at the packhouse in about 5 minuets.” I mind liked Noel. “I will be there to greet you as well as some others. I can’t wait to meet my new sister you know Ellen is going to flip when she comes for a visit.” I smiled. I loved my older sister, but she was part of another pack, her mate had been an alpha and she moved to be with him. I wondered what she would think of Lilith. Ellen was very proper, and I didn’t get the idea that Lilith was like that.
Lilith was fidgeting with her hands in her lap. I put one of my hands on her thigh and squeezed. She looked at me and I offered a smile. The last little bit of our ride was met in silence. I thought about what we shared during the ride to our pack. I learned that she is apparently very good at chemistry. I didn’t know what she planned to do with that skill, but it was interesting to say the least. Not to mention she participated in 3 sports during the school year. I saw when I helped her pack, she had a Lacross stick as well as a cheer uniform and pompoms and some bows. I didn’t say anything about it when I saw it, not wanting to come across as a creeper.
But when she brought it up while we were driving, I couldn’t help but think about her in that dam uniform I had seen. Apparently, the sports helped curb Kali moods. And if she was not active enough, she also boxed at Robs gym frequently and ran Kali every day. Unless something came up. I didn’t know how she managed to do her homework with all her extra curriculars. It baffled me she went to such great links to make sure she had control over her wolf.
I was stressed. If she ran Kali everyday someone in the pack would see her black coat and then what would I say. I knew it was better for her wolf to run in the woods over the wheel I had seen at Robs. But, I didn’t know what to-do with the pack. I couldn’t very well just spring this on them. I also needed to tell her about what I know of her wolf, well at least what the color means. I didn’t think that would offer her any comfort. “I hope your brother, Noel likes me.” Lilith said. “He will like you. You guys are close in age.” She raised her brows. “He is 19.” Lilith once again starred out into the woods.
Lilith face was practically pushed to the glass of the window as we pulled up to the packhouse. I saw Noel and his face said it all. He was practically bouncing on his heals in anticipation of meeting Lilith. I noticed some others, a few elders and some of the people who resided in the pack house. Lilith didn’t move as I parked the truck. I looked at her and she looked like she was freaking out. “Lilith it will be alright.” She nodded. I hurried and rounded the truck to open her door, but by the time I got to her side she was already out of the truck looking around.
Noel apparently couldn’t wait as he charged us. He collided with Lilith in a tight hug lifting her off the ground and spinning her around and saying “I am so glad you are here. My brother can be a brute, but I swear he is okay.” Lilith didn’t do anything she was just letting him keep hold of her. “Noel let my mate down, Now.” He did as he said and set her down. He looked at her.
He smiled huge. “You are so tiny, we need something new around here.” Lilith was just looking at him. I said “I told you he is a bit much.” Lilith snorted and Noel began again. “I am not. I am just the fun sibling in this family. Ellen is so sophisticated, and you are too serious. I am the only one who knows how to have fun. Lilith you like fun, right?” Lilith spoke “Yeah.” Noel smiled even bigger, which I didn’t even think was possible. “Good, It is about time I had someone to have fun with. So tell me everything about you, Eric will get everything inside for you and I can give you the tour.” He swung his arm around Lilith, like he had been her pal all his life.
I growled at my little brother “No Noel, I am her mate. I will show her around.” I grabbed Lilith are and pulled her to me. She smiled at Noel. “Noel don’t worry we will have fun together soon.” Noel smiled again. I pulled Lilith to me and headed toward the house. We had to stop to introduce her to some of the elders. Their eyes fixed on her. She was not wearing the most appropriate thing right now and I wondered if they were upset about her appearance. I had told Noel she was part human so I knew he would have informed the elders of that. So, they shouldn’t be suprised she was so short compared to us. One of them finally spoke. “Welcome to Grey Crest Luna.” “Thanks.” She paused and added “Oh and it is nice to meet.”
I tried not to snort. She clearly was nervous and didn’t know if she needed to be so formal. I moved us away and introduced her to some of the people who worked in the packhouse. She smiled and found out all of their names. She talked with them with ease, not like she had with the elders. “Come on Lilith I want to show you around.” She followed me silently looking around at everything. “You live in a god dam mansion.” She whispered. “Correction we live in a mansion.” Lilith laughed. I looked at her and she couldn’t stop roaming her eyes toward everything. “This is the kitchen.” Her eyes where huge. “If you can’t find something you want just ask on of the women you met outside and they will make sure it is stocked for you.”
“This is the lounge room.” “You have a pool table. Okay Juliet is going to shit a brick when she sees the size of this TV.” I turned to her. “Lilith your friend can not come here.” “What do you mean?” “I mean everyone in the pack is shifters what if she saw something. Humans don’t know we exist and it would freak her out if she saw what we were.” Lilith bit her lip and my eyes instatly landed on them. “Eric I never allowed her to come to my house because well you saw it. But, this” She waved her arms around. “She could come here. This is presentable.” I looked at her, she looked so hopeful. I knew this women was going to have me caving all the time because I couldn’t stop myself when I said “We will talk about it.” Lilith smiled. God, I was so weak when it came to her.
We walked hand in hand as I showed her the yard. “Hell yes, a fucking yard.” I didn’t realize she really had none of that in the city. Everything was new to her. She was in no way naive, but seeing her so excited was so diffrent to me. I realized I took a lot of what I had for granted. “Come on.” I said. I pulled her up the stairs to the top floor. “This is our suite.” I said as I opened the wooden door. “This is our room?” She asked. “Yes, what do you think?” She ran and jumped on the bed. “I couldn’t imagine all of this in my dreams. I mean I knew people lived like this. Lots of kids at my school do, but I never thought I would.” She was smiling laying flat on her back on our bed.
She said “Thankyou Eric.” I lay down beside her. “Don’t thank me. What is mine is yours. We are mates.” She didn’t wipe the smile from face as she laid there. I watched her. I didn’t know what she was thinking but I knew it was something happy. Suddenly she frowned and covered her face. “Lilith what is wrong?” She shook her head. I knew she wasn’t crying but something was wrong. “Lilith tell me what did I do?” With her face still covered she said “You live this way and I lived in the freaking projects, it is just humiliating.”
“Lilith it is not. You just grew up diffrent that is all.” She kept her hands over her face, but I came in close and pulled her hands away. I looked down at her, her face giving nothing away. My mouth came down on hers gently, my plan was to savor this moment, but the heat between us was intense and our soft kiss turned aggressive. Both of us fighting for dominance with our mouths.
