87. Breakfast

Eric

Good, God Lilith looked like she had been hit by a train in the morning. She was still asleep, but she looked like she had been through it. Her skin was bruised all over and her pale completion made the bruising look purple, she looked like something out of a Tim Burton movie. I didn’t want to wake her up.

She needed sleep. I knew she wouldn’t be up for anything today. I knew I wouldn’t had I been in her situation. I felt regret looking at her laying there all broken. This was my fault. I had not secured the packhouse. I had not found her in time. Now, she was like this. How could she not hate me? I wondered what she was dreaming about when her eyebrows fused together.

I thought it was a little weird how she was acting yesterday. I know that she would not act how she normally did after an experience like that. But it was different than what I thought she would be. She seemed oddly calm about everything, maybe Lilith just hasn’t let what happened really sink in. That had to be in. She was way to calm about everything. Axel spoke to me. “Eric you are forgetting something, about your mate?” I didn’t know what he was talking about. “And what is that?” I asked.

“Lilith has been beaten badly before. Not to mention she used to fight Kali, for a long time, until Rob came in and beat the ever-living shit out of her. Remember Marcus told you he did it often. Lilith’s mind is different than most peoples. I don’t think she really will have some long trauma for pain. It has been her life for so long she doesn’t see it as anything new. Or at least the trauma is going to pushed down deep, she won’t address that with you. As far as Kali, forcing shifts she had that for a long time too.”

He made a point. But it was not healthy. If what Axel said was true, Lilith shouldn’t just be okay with being battered like that. Axel spoke in my head again. “Eric, she wasn’t beaten overly bad by Bowie. That was Kali, she has to forgive her. Kali lives inside her. They share one body. Lilith has to get over it. Bowie yes bit her, which is disgusting, he offered up to someone else to be trafficked. All horrible, but Lilith didn’t let that happen. In fact, she seemed amused by whatever she had done to Bjorn. Bowie hit her a few times, but she said most of her injuries was from Kali.”

I spoke to my wolf “Axel, why would Kali do that to her, why would she cause her such pain and torture. She bit into her own chest. Was she trying to kill her?” I was starting to get pissed off at Lilith’s Draco wolf. The evidence all over Lilith was horrific, it was easy to blame Bowie, but he had not done a majority of it. That was Kali, that dam fucking wolf did this to her. And it wasn’t like Lilith healed like I did. She was only half shifter. She could take months for her to have no bruising with how bad it was. “Eric I am sorry, but you can’t really do anything about it. Lilith has to make peace with Kali they have to figure it out between them. Even I can’t really do anything, despite my desire to do so.” Axel said.

I reached out and stroked Lilith’s hair, her eye fluttered open and she smiled at me. I tried not to look at the bite mark next to her mouth. But it was hard to miss. “Are we eating breakfast soon.” Lilith asked. “We can.” She started to sit up and I noticed how she tried not to wince. “How are you feeling?” I asked and Lilith in a very Lilith like way glared at me. “I am fucking fine, sore, but I will live.” I tried not to laugh. That is something only she would do. No one in their right mind would act like she could function in that condition. She stood up and I noticed she was swaying a bit. I stood with her giving her something to lean on. “Eric, I don’t mean to be a shit Luna but please tell the pack that I will not be doing training for a little bit. I am behind on school and want to catch up. Could Marcus or Noel lead the training.” That seemed reasonable enough.

“Yeah, or I could if you want.” Her eyes got huge, and she spoke. “No.” I was taken aback by her not wanting me to do it. She shook her head. What was she thinking? Lilith shook her head a little and went back to the subject of food. “Also, would you be terribly offended if I stay in these pajamas all day? They are comfy and warm, and I have no desire to get dressed again.” I gave her a smile; she was acting her age, and it showed. “Why would I be offended? You look cute.” I watched as Lilith rolled her eyes. “What do you want for breakfast?” I asked.

“I would like toaster strudel and bacon.” I nodded and put my arm around her lower back like I had last night, when she wanted a sandwich, to help her walk. I knew she was in pain despite the fact she wouldn’t admit it. We walked into the kitchen and unlike last night she wouldn’t leave the entry way. She just wanted to lean against the frame but wouldn’t entirely come into the space.

Last night she had come in, I wondered if it had just so been to tired and emotionally shot to handle coming back into the place she had been abducted from. But she clearly was having a problem with it now, in the light of day. One of the packhouse staff came into the kitchen and looked at me to ask if I wanted to have the food cooked for me. She looked at Lilith after asking me. Her face paled. She looked like she was going to be sick. Lilith was staring back at her, her arms crossed. “Why don’t you take a fucking picture it will last a hell of a lot longer. Then you can pass it around the pack and fucking talk about it.” My eyes got big.

Lillith never talked to anyone who helped in the packhouse like that. “That would be great thank you. Toaster Strudel and Bacon, also some orange juice. The Luna and I will be in her office.” She nodded looking back at Lilith and I could see my mates lip curling up like she was going to growl. I moved and helped lead my mate out of the doorway. I leaned in and said, “You didn’t need to talk to her like that.” Lilith said. “She was looking at me like I was something broken. I don’t need that fucking shit, and you know she is going to pass it along to the whole pack.”

I didn’t want to argue with her right now, about being kind. She was not herself in the moment, but who would be. I know everyone who worked here in the house, liked her. From day one she had been liked them and was kind to them. They liked her, and that wouldn’t change from her comment she said out of anger. Lilith sat down on one of the longue chairs in her office leaning her head back and closing her eyes. What was she thinking? “I should have been nicer to her. I know that. I just didn’t like the staring.” Lilith said with her eyes still closed. At least she knew she had ripped the help for no reason and she had remorse about it.

“I just don’t want to be viewed as some weak as shifter. I love everyone in the pack, I just don’t want them to think I am not the best, and the way I fucking look tell everyone who sees me that I am not shit. That I am some weak fucking kid. Then there is Kali, she is being a fucking little bitch.” So here it was, she was going to open up on that topic. “Why do you say that?” I asked wanting her to talk about everything, it would help.”Kali, is all beaten up over the fact she tried to kill me, and what she put me through. She doesn’t want to talk to me. I forced a conversation last night when I got into bed.”

So, Kali did try to kill her? That fucking wolf. Axel spoke in my head. “Eric she is my mate, be nice and calm down.” I tried to control myself. Lilith spoke again. “Anyways, I told her to stop being a fucking victim, she is not the one that got beat the fuck up. No, that was me, I told her I forgave her and that she better buck the fuck up and that in a few days I was going to make her shift.” I cut in saying. “Lilith, you know you can’t shift right now, right?” She opened her eyes and turned her head towards me. “Of course, I can’t but in a few days, I will be fine, and she can go for a run. Maybe then once she gets time with Axel she will stop with this shit.”

Lilith really didn’t know. “Lilith is not that. As of right now you are pregnant, you can’t shift while you are pregnant.” Her eyes bore into mine and she went back to leaning her head back and closed her eyes. “Do you want to talk about that?” I asked. I knew I wanted to talk about it. I wanted to know how she felt about having a kid. I wanted to know how she felt about maybe losing the baby. “No, I don’t.” Lilith said. I wondered what she was thinking about. “Look I will drop this topic, but we do need to talk about it at some point.” I spoke. “Whatever.” I hated that response, but I couldn’t push her right now and that was apparent. Just then there was a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Lilith looked up at the women with a plate with Lilith’s food and a glass of juice. “I am sorry about how I spoke to you. Thank you for making me some food.” The women smiled and spoke. “Luna it is my pleasure.” She then turned to me. “I will bring you your plate next alpha.” I nodded and the women scurried off. “Eric, they found where the Draco pack is.” Noel mind linked me.

I looked at Lilith who was eating. I wondered if I should tell her now or wait. It is not like she could go there right now. The Draco Wolves were deadly, and if they felt like they wanted to attack her in her condition she couldn’t protect herself. Even if I was there, I couldn’t take on a whole pack and another alpha. We both may end up dead. This revelation would have to wait. I mind linked Noel back, “Okay send all the information that was found to me, I will look it over and we can talk about what to do.”
