Chapter 49
Harmony stopped for a couple of seconds. She didn"t know whether she would tell her mother about what Drake said to her or not.
She couldn"t help but wonder what her reaction would be once she found out that the man wanted to marry her.
"Nothing, mom. He just had some issues with the family, and he needed someone to talk to," she said and then she continued serving the breakfast. "Is dad still sleeping?" She asked to divert her mother"s attention.
"Yes, he is still sleeping," she said and then she took a sip on her coffee.
"Wow. Is he not going to work today?"
"He isn"t feeling well so I told him not to come to work. And just take a rest," her mother said which made her eyebrows knitted together.
"What do you mean? Is there something that hurts on him?" She said full of worry.
"He felt tightening on his chest, but he is okay when I left him earlier," her mother said to her. She knew that she just didn"t want her to get worried about her father.
"Should we bring him to the hospital so that he could be checked?" She said as her voice was trembling. She couldn"t help but feel worried and scared for her father.
He already had a heart attacked before and she couldn"t imagine how he was able to survive that.
If that would happen again, Harmony wouldn"t know what else they would do.
"Mom, can we take him to the hospital? Please?" She said to her mother even without waiting for her answer.
"Alright. I will go ahead and wake him up so he could eat and then we will go to the hospital. But don"t worry, my dear, he should be okay," her mother said and then he drank her coffee.
Harmony couldn"t be blame. That day when her father was brought to the hospital, she felt like she was going to lose her mind. Her mother was still on the other country that time and she was all alone.
She was so scared that she would be losing her father.
"I know what you are thinking, my dear. You just have to pray and your dad will be okay," she said to her while looking at her. "I wouldn"t want you looking like that if your father would come out and eat breakfast with us. I know that you are worried but you should not show that to him. As if you do not know your father. He would insist that he is alright so that we wouldn"t get worried about him," her mother added.
She was right. Her father wouldn"t say anything to them because he wouldn"t want them to get worried about him.
"I know, mom. I am sorry. I couldn"t just help it because of what happened before. I cannot imagine myself in that kind of situation again," she said while looking at her mother as she reminded her about that time she was all alone at the hospital.
"Don"t think so much. It will be okay," she said and then she stood up. "I will go and ask him to get up so he can eat his breakfast."
"Alright, thank you, mom," she said and still worry was in her eyes.
How she wished that she could do something with her father"s heart.
"H--- Harmony, please call the ambulance," her mother shouted on the top of her lungs as soon as she got inside their room.
She felt like her heart skipped a beat.
She hurriedly went into their room.
"M--- mom? What happened?" She said and then she could see her father"s eyes were closed.
"Please, go and call the emergency hotline," her mother shouted again.
She quickly took her mobile phone and she couldn"t fight back the tears that were falling from her eyes.
"Hello, please send an ambulance. My father lost consciousness. We need it. This is emergency," she said as soon as the call got connected to the emergency hotline.
She gave the address and then after the call, she went near her father.
"He is still breathing, Harmony," her mother said and she felt like her chest was tightening.
This was what she feared the most.
It didn"t take a while and finally the ambulance arrived.
Inside the ambulance, her father was given the first aid and they connected the oxygen to him and the other apparatuses in his body.
"What happened to him?" She asked one of the medical team that helped them.
"I think it"s potential cardiac arrest, but we need more test to confirm," he said to her.
"Is he okay?"
The man took a deep breath.
"To be honest, he is in coma and so we have to pray that he is okay, and his brain was not affected. He was lacking oxygen earlier when we arrived," he said.
She just nodded.
Harmony felt like she was going to lose her mind because of everything that was happening.
How could this happen?
"Mom," she said while still crying.
"It"s going to be okay. He is going to be okay, my dear. Don"t think so much. I know that you are worried about him but he is going to fine."
"Mom, I am so afraid of what"s going to happen to Dad. I should have not let him work and this happened to him," she said as she felt guilty.
Maybe if she didn"t stop from working and she didn"t choose to continue studying, her dad was able to take a rest.
"Shhh... Stop, my dear. Don"t blame yourself," her mother said and then she pulled her into her embrace. "I am sorry if this have to happen to your dad. But I know he is strong. He will be able to pass through this. So, you have to be strong so he could feel that strength and fight," she added and then she kissed her forehead.
Her mind was in turmoil because of what happened to her father.
