Chapter 71

Harmony was happy because her dad was already awake, and he was already transferred to the private room that Drake got for them.
She knew that her dad wouldn"t be able to have the surgery if it wasn"t for Drake. She was thankful that the man was ready. She couldn"t quite imagine what could happen to her father if they were unable to provide the money that they needed for the operation to push through.
"I am happy that you look better now, dad," she said while she was pressing his palms. There was still oxygen that was connected to him but that"s only it. His condition improved a lot compared the first days of her father in the hospital.
Her mother hugged her from behind. She knew that she was also thankful that her father had survived the second heart attack her had.
"This time, we have to be very careful when it comes to his condition," her mother said to her. "We cannot let him do over time and exhaust himself to work," she added.
Harmony agreed to what her mother said. She knew that she couldn"t continue her studies anymore. Anyway, she was able to save enough, the money that Jake had given her could be use for her to start a business.
Probably, she could make her mother"s goodies a business. They could look for a physical store where they could sell the goodies and other bake food she was making.
They will be doing anything that they could think they could earn. She would no longer allow her father to go back to work. In his situation, he needed to take a rest. He had to stay at home and do nothing else except for the physical activities that the doctor would suggest for him.
She knew that it would be a very difficult conversation with her father but they had to be firm. She couldn"t imagine what would happen to her if something happened again to her father.
"I know, mom. We can talk about our plans once we are home," she said to her and then she realized that they still have to stay at the hospital until end of month since they don"t have any equipment at the house to be use by her father just in case an emergency happened. "Oh, I forgot, we still have to stay here by the end of the month."
Her mother removed her hands that were wrapped around her.
She looked at her and she saw when she shook her head.
"What?" She said shaking her head as she couldn"t understand what she was trying to say.
"Oh, your father isn"t staying here until end of the month. I think Drake was arranging everything for him," her mother said which made her jaw dropped.
"What do you mean?" She saw as her eyebrows were drawn together.
"Well, he said that he would be taking care of everything, and it will be best if your father will be at home," her mother answered.
"So?" She said as one of her eyebrows was raised. She knew that Drake had done something without her knowledge.
"He sent people to sent one of the rooms in our house to be your father"s room with all the equipment that he needed to stay there," her mother said which made her dumbfounded.
"What?" She said as her eyes went round. She had no idea what was happening. Drake never told her anything. How could this happen? She couldn"t believe that the man was just doing everything that he wanted. "I don"t know anything about this. Did he tell you?"
Her mother nodded to her surprised. It seemed like she intentionally didn"t mention about Drake"s plan.
"Well, he said not to tell you because he knew that you wouldn"t agree on his plan," her mother said to her.
"He is right, mom. He already did so much for us and I don"t think he is being reasonable anymore," she said and she felt pissed off to Drake. She didn"t know if she should be mad or thankful because he was doing this for her family even without asking anything in return. "Why did you let him do it?"
She couldn"t hide the irritation that she felt because of what was happening.
"I know that you wouldn"t like the idea, but your father would be better if he would have the ambiance at home," her mother said to her, and it made a sense but she just didn"t like the thought that it looked like they were already taking advantage of Drake.
"Yes, that makes sense, mom. It"s just that I don"t like Drake to think that we are taking advantage of his kindness. Not because he had offered it, we will say yes," she said as she was unable to hold her tongue. She knew that Drake and her mother were close, but the man had done a lot already for her family.
She didn"t even know where she would be getting the money to pay him with all the expenses at the hospital.
"I am sorry, sweetie. I just said yes because Drake is insisting and I thought that your dad really need to be back home," her mother continued.
Harmony just took a deep breath. It was already done so probably the reason why the man was not on her side was because he was supervising the installation of the medical equipment at their house.
She couldn"t believe all the effort that the man was giving to his family. Their relationship was not real but all of the actions he was doing says otherwise. She felt like Drake was doing everything that could make her happy.
Harmony was on deep thought when her phone suddenly rang.
It was Drake. She couldn"t help but wonder what the man was going to say.
"Hello," she said as soon as the line got connected. "Where are you?" She asked even if she already had an idea of where he was.
