Chapter 75

"I think it would be best for Harmony"s dad to be home rather than to stay at the hospital," he said calmly.
He didn"t want to fight back the tone of his dad. He knew him so well. Just like what he was always doing, it was very obvious that the man disagreed with his decision to shoulder all the expenses of Harmony"s dad.
"Do you really love her so much? What if she is just staying with you because of money?" His dad said which made him dumbfounded.
He scoffed.
"Wow, I didn"t know your so easy to judge, dad. Is that what money had made you already? You know, Harmony. You already met her. Does she look like one?" He looked at his dad and his grandmother.
"I know, son but---"
"It"s okay, dad. I know just like always; you don"t believe in every decision that I am making. And, just for your information. I am going to pay Harmony"s father"s bill using the money that I earned myself and not out of my inheritance. Please, spare the woman with your anger to me. If you doubt me, can you please not doubt her?" He said as he could no longer control himself. He knew his father very well. He was glad that his Aunt Carmella was not around because if she did, he knew that she would be talking endlessly with nonsense. He hated her.
He knew that she would say anything and insensitive of what he was going to feel. For her, her children were the best.
He let out a deep sigh as he continued to look at his father and his grandmother. The silence was filling the study room. He didn"t even know what thoughts exactly running inside his grandma"s head. He didn"t want to think that she had been already influenced by his father.
"Look, I know what you mean, son. You cannot blame me---"
"She isn"t like mom. If that"s what you are thinking," Drake said, and he saw how his father gritted his teeth. One rule, his father never wanted him to mention his mother. But this time, he was afraid he needed because even if he wouldn"t say anything, Drake knew that his father was trying to think that Harmony was the same as her mother.
Though he didn"t know the whole picture, his father thought that Harmony would be leaving him as well just like how his mother had left him.
Even if they were just in a contractual relationship, he knew that Harmony had been faithful to him. He could see that when she was trying to push away Paul even if he knew that the woman still loved the man.
"I am telling you, dad. Please, stay away from this. Don"t push me to marry someone I barely knew. I will always choose to marry Harmony no matter what you say and even Aunty Carmella. You will disinherit me? The hell I care anymore," he said in front of his grandmother. He felt like he was unable to control his emotions anymore.
It was as if the people around the house was threatening him that he wouldn"t be able to get anything if he wouldn"t follow what they say.
"I am sorry, grandma. But I have enough of the manipulation. If Aunty and Dad believe that my cousins are better than me, then it doesn"t really matter to me if the company would be in their hands. Anyway, if I will be there and take the seat of being the CEO, I am pretty sure that I will just be a puppet or a shadow because no one wanted me to make a decision out of my own mind," he said and he couldn"t hide the frustration in his face that he was feeling.
"Son, you don"t understand," his father was insisting for him to listen to him.
Drake shook his head.
"Dad, what else I cannot understand?" He said while looking at him and then to his grandmother. He wanted his grandmother to help him to explain to his dad what he saw from Harmony that he was defending her like this.
"Nelson, why don"t you listen to your son? And, besides, he is already grown up and he should know what he is doing. Let him be," she said and then the old woman smiled at him.
"Thank you, grandma. I don"t know if I am still here if not for you. You are just the only person who could understand me," he said and it was obvious that he wanted his father to hear his sentiments in life.
"For God"s sake, Drake. You know that I am doing this for you. Everything I am saying because I know that they are better for you," he said while looking at him.
"Dad, just this once? Can you trust me and stay away from Harmony?"
"Okay, son. But please, this would be the last time that I will be hearing that you spend money to that woman"s family. She has to love you because of who you are and not because you can give what she needed," his father said which made him stunned. He didn"t know why because he felt his father"s emotions with his words.
"Thank you for your concern, dad and again, I know what I am doing. Harmony is far from the woman you have met. She isn"t like what you think. In fact, she didn"t even know about this equipment that I asked our people to install at their house. I intentionally didn"t tell her because once she knew about it, she would refuse," he said while looking intently at his dad and hoping that he would be able to understand how he was feeling at the moment.
"Whatever you say, son. Do what you think you know is right but never come to me crying and saying that I am right," he said while he was looking at him as he shook his head.
