Chapter 91
Harmony was looking at Drake. She never thought that the man would be opening up like this to her and her mother.
"You are right, Auntie and of course, Harmony. Sometimes, I wished I could ran away from those people who don"t do anything but to follow us. We are not even in the entertainment industry, but they all seem to be interested with what we are doing in our life. Sometimes, it"s frustrating," the man said and he was looking at her. "So, Harmony, if you are with me and you can see that someone is following us, there"s really no need to worry because that"s just a paparazzi."
"I see. I don"t think I should be worried about, and I am not bothered at all," she said and smiled at him.
"Thank you for understanding. So even if you will come with Uncle on my grandmother"s birthday you should be fine," he said.
"That"s great. Hopefully, we can take him even if he is just on his wheelchair," Miss Catalina said.
"I hope so," Harmony said. But deep inside her, he wanted to stay her dad at home because she would never know what would happen during the party. She would just have to tell her mother about it once Drake go home.
"Let"s pray for that. My father is looking forward to meeting you soon," the man continued which made her eyebrows knitted together. Harmony quickly looked at Drake with questions in her eyes.
As far as she knew the two were not in good terms so could she be mistaken that she heard excitement in Drake"s voice? And did he say that his father was looking forward meeting them?
It seemed that the man could read what was inside her mind and then he nodded.
"You are right on what you are thinking. I just reconciled with my father," he said and smiled at her and Miss Catalina.
"Oh, really? Wow, that"s a great news. I could still remember when we were in Italy you told me that he isn"t close to you. I am so happy for you. I told you, no parent could stand their children feeling bad. I know that he has his reasons back then," her mother said to Drake.
"Yes, you are right, Miss Catalina and I am so thankful that I met you back then. At least, I didn"t run away and get carried away by my emotions," he said while smiling.
Harmony could see to the man that he was really happy because finally, he and his dad were already okay. She could still remember the encounter the father and son had when Drake introduced her to his family.
His father looked down on her but she never allowed them. She proved to them that even if she came from a poor family, she had a pride and dignity. Before she left their house, she ensured that the people would hear everything that she wanted to say.
"I am happy for you, Drake. I know that there"s no greater feeling than to be okay with our parents," she said and smiling at him. She was genuinely happy for the man. Even if Drake wouldn"t say it, she knew that was one of the man"s dream in life, to be okay with his father. Because when she was away from her mother, she felt an emptiness that she couldn"t explain why and she was sure that it could be the same as what Drake was feeling towards his father.
They were near each other and yet so far. His father always contradicted what he was saying. She had witness that for a couple of times he visited his grandmother.
Harmony was well aware that the family didn"t like her because she was poor. They thought that she was like Drake"s mother though she didn"t know that side of the story.
Drake never told her anything about his mother. And that was something that she just realized. It looked like the man didn"t want to talk about the woman who gave birth to him and she couldn"t help but wonder why.
What exactly his mother did and she had been hated by the whole clan of Villarama? She couldn"t help but think about that. But she didn"t want to ask anything about it to Drake because he might get mad at her.
"Thank you. Believe me, I never thought as well that this is going to happen. I never thought that my father would apologize to me and even defend me at my Auntie Carmella. And since then I know that he is trying his best to make up with all the years that he chose us to be distant to each other," Drake continued narrating everything that he and his mother had talked about in the study room.
"I think that"s great. At least someone is in your side already," Harmony said after she heard what Drake had said. "He seems to be able to see the light and he realized everything that he did to you."
"Yes, and I am so thankful that this happened. Even if you are rich or if you have all the money in the world but your family is not in good terms then it would mean nothing," Drake said. "There will always be emptiness in your heart that you cannot explain. This is exactly what I was feeling back then."
"Yes, I understand. I am so happy that this happened to you and your father, Drake. Now, since you have that kind of family member, before you believe anything that they will be saying, you have to hear out your father first."
"Exactly, Miss Catalina. I am sure that my Auntie is planning something. She is very angry at my father because he didn"t agree to what she was telling him that time. For the first time I felt that my dad was on my side and until now I cannot get over it."
