Chapter 85
"No," he said in an authoritative voice. "Like what I said. I don"t need the money of this family. I only wanted to take over because I want to continue the legacy of grandpa. And, if you feel I am less qualified even after everything that I have proven then be it. But I will only step down if that what would grandma say. After all, she is still the owner as the wife of grandpa. No matter what the will says as long as she lives, her words will have power over anything," he added while looking at his Auntie"s face. It was full of shock.
She looked so pale. Her faced looked disturbed as probably, she didn"t expect this confrontation to happen.
His father was just listening to their conversation. He had changed. If it was just the father he knew before, he was already kicked out. He already shouted at him.
Drake felt glad because finally, his dad believed in him. At the same time, his heart was full of anger for his Auntie. It seemed for the longest time; she was like a termite in his life who was trying to ruin his relationship with his father.
He couldn"t believe that his dad was not really bad at all. He was just being influenced by his wicked Auntie Carmella.
"I cannot believe that you are acting like a chairman now, Drake. Remember, like what you said, your grandma is still alive, you don"t have any right as of yet with anything. And you shouldn"t answering me like that."
"Why would I not? You clearly not on the right track, Auntie. You have insulted me deep to the bones. You tried to ruin my reputation to my father," he said. "So, do you think you deserve to be respected?" He couldn"t help but say everything that was running inside his mind.
He had kept those things inside him because he didn"t want any trouble. But now that his dad was on his side, he was ready to fight for what is right.
"You don"t know how much time you have stolen from me because of everything that you have said to dad. He has been away from me because of your words. I cannot really believe that you can do this to a family member of your?" Drake felt like his heart was going to explode because of everything that he learned and because his Auntie continued to argue with him.
"And who said that I am treating you like a family member? I couldn"t even believe that I have to have a nephew like you," she said full of disgust. "Look at him, Nelson. Is this the child that you wanted to be proud of? He is answering me back nonstop. He is disrespectful. Anyway, what else should I be expecting from a son of a poor woman who even left him in your care?"
Drake felt like his blood boiled because of what he heard from his Auntie Carmella.
But he remained calm. He wouldn"t do anything that would put him in a situation that he couldn"t get out.
He smiled smugly. And then looked at her.
"You know what? I couldn"t even imagine what happened back then and my mother left me with my father? What if you did to her what you did to me?" He asked while he was looking at her. Drake"s eyes were burning in anger and he was thankful that he was able to control his emotions. Because he couldn"t believe what else he could do to his Auntie if he exploded.
"What will I be doing? It"s your mother who left this house. It is her fault and you grew up like that."
"What"s wrong with me?"
"Everything, Drake. You are ambitious."
"Huh? Do you hear what you are saying? Can you hear yourself?" Drake uttered with disbelief in his voice.
"Yes, and very clear, Drake. You really taken everything after your mother. You acted as if you are holding us in your palms when you aren"t even declared as the official chairman," she said.
Auntie Carmella looked like she had no intention of getting lost with this conversation.
"In all honesty, we are going in circles. I don"t want to continue this conversation anymore. Dad, I am leaving. I cannot stand Auntie Carmella anymore. She is being unreasonable."
His father nodded. He could see in his eyes that he understood him when he answered back his Auntie Carmella. He didn"t want to do that but the woman had forced him to do so.
He was not ready to hear everything that she said and that made his blood went up to his head.
She didn"t have the right to judge him especially her children hadn"t proven anything yet.
He couldn"t understand why he was so affected with his conversation with his father.
Drake walked going to the door. He was about to hold the knob when his Auntie Carmella spoke again.
It seemed that she wouldn"t ran out of words to say.
"I don"t know what to say but Drake if you think that the company will be yours. You better think again. I am not going to allow that happen easily. You are just a grandchild! It"s either me or your father. I cannot believe how stupid dad is when he made that will," she said as she threatened him.
Drake didn"t know what he would be saying. He just stopped to listen to her but then he continued getting out of the house.
There"s no sense to argue with the woman. It was pretty obvious that his Auntie was deaf in everything that he was saying. She was also blinded by her emotions. He could see jealousy and anger mixed up in her eyes which he couldn"t understand.
He would be the chairman but even that happened, every Villarama had their own shares. So, he couldn"t really understand what she was trying to fight for.
