Chapter 98

Drake couldn"t help but feel proud to Harmony. Once again, she nailed the piece that was his grandmother"s favourite.
"Dear, your girlfriend is a treasure. I haven"t seen anyone with such a great rendition to my favourite piece," his grandmother said while looking at Harmony full of admiration.
He could see that the woman was a bit shy as she could see that all the eyes of the guests were on her.
He could see it because she looked down while Avery, the host was speaking and saying how great she was.
So, he decided to go in front. He knew that it was not part of the party, but he collected himself.
"Grandma, is it okay for me to get the spotlight from you?" He said to his grandmother.
He saw when she widely smiled at him.
"Go, dear. Make me the happiest grandmother on earth," she said and that gave him the courage to proceed with his plan.
Deep inside his heart, Drake was hoping that everything would go smoothly.
He could feel his heart was hammering inside his chest.
"Thank you, grandma. Please, pray for me," he said in a tone as if he was going to a war.
Avery was confused when she saw him walking towards her direction. He could understand her since what he was going to do was not part of the program.
He stood next to her side and then he whispered to her what he wanted to happen.
Avery was smiling from ear to ear after she heard what he said.
"Alright, I will be with you on this one. Just stay calm," she said and smiled at him.
He took a deep breath. Drake could see the confusion in everyone"s eyes. Most of them were family members and they already knew Harmony. Some were closest family friends of his grandmother.
Drake closed his eyes as he was trying to find the words that he wanted to say.
First, he looked at his grandmother. As much as he didn"t want to take away the spotlight on her since this was her night, he couldn"t stop himself. It was as if he couldn"t wait for another day before doing what he had already planned inside his mind.
"What is it, Drake?"
"Hey, speak up. What are you planning?"
"What"s taking you so long? Just say what you want to say!"
Those were his cousins. He knew that they were pissed at him because they thought that he was trying to get the attention of people.
Drake coughed to clear his throat.
"Grandma, happy birthday again. I can say that more than anyone in this world, if there"s someone, I owe for who I am today, it wouldn"t be my father nor my mother, it would be no other than but you. You made me feel love since I was a little and even when I was left by myself. I can still clearly recall whenever I come out from school back then, you are always waiting for me and ask me how my day was. Thank you, grandma. I love you and I hope you enjoy your day," he said full of emotions. He never said those words to her, but he knew that this was also the right time for him to let the woman know how much he was grateful to her for taking care of him when his mother left and never came back. " But I am sorry if tonight, I have to take away the spotlight from you," Drake added.
He saw the confusion to the guests but his grandmother was widely smiling at him. She nodded to him like she was saying that she could do it.
"For the past months, there were a lot of things that happened and I could say that they were not perfect but they were the best bumps that I have encountered in my whole life. It"s sound strange and weird but I myself couldn"t explain everything in words. And right now even if I am speaking in front of you, I don"t know if I am even using the rights words that I should be using at this moment. I just don"t want to regret any moment. I just don"t want to let the chance slip. I don"t want anyone else to come ahead of me so even if this is grandmother"s birthday, I asked her permission if I can do this," he said and everyone was just silent.
They were all looking at him and they were obviously waiting on his next action.
Then the music played.
He wanted to cry because of the song. God gave me you. Harmony was indeed given by God. It was not an accident that he met her at the café. It was destined to happen. They were fated to be together.
Drake felt like his whole world slowed down as he walked towards Harmony who was still sitting in front of the grand piano since her part just finished a few minutes ago.
She could see that she was confused of what was happening and of what he was saying. Her eyebrows were drawn together while looking at him.
Though he remembered telling her a couple of days ago, that he would be proposing to her in his grandmother"s party.
Maybe, the woman didn"t just expect it to happen since he also just confessed to her the truth. The truth that he was unable to control himself and he let his heart fell for her.
Drake wanted to cry at the moment because there were a lot of emotions stirred up inside him. He was being confused by happiness, excitement and fear.
He smiled timidly at Harmony who was looking at him. The shock was registered all over her face, but Drake knew that it was already too late to stop. He had to continue since everyone was already waiting.
He knelt on the ground. He looked at her and then he got the little box from his pocket.
