Chapter 86

"What"s going on here? Why are you shouting at each other?"
Everyone went silent as soon as the heard the hoarse voice coming from Drake"s grandmother. It seemed that everyone didn"t expect that the old woman would see them in that kind of heated conversation.
No one dared to talk as the old woman entered the room using her wheelchair.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked again.
There was tranquility.
Drake"s grandmother looked at each one of them.
"Don"t tell me, I am still alive, and you are already fighting about the company," she said while looking at his Aunty Carmella and his Dad.
"This is just a simple misunderstanding, mom," Nelson said to his mother.
"No, mom. This is not a simple misunderstanding. Since we are all here, I guess this is the right time for us to discuss this issue," Auntie Carmella said and then she threw a glance to Drake. "Mom, I couldn"t understand until now why you trust this grandson of yours."
"What are you talking about?" His grandmother asked in a confusion. "So, I am right after all that you are fighting because of the company? How many times I should be telling you that I am still alive? You know what? This wouldn"t make any senses. And if your father"s wealth would be the root cause for this family to be torn apart once I die, then no one will be inheriting it. I will talk to the lawyer and get it revised," she said without hesitation to the people inside the room.
"Mom," Drake"s father called her mother"s attention. "Please do not decide just because of your emotions. Dad worked hard for the company to grow and you cannot just give it away because you are upset with us."
"I wouldn"t Nelson. If everyone of you will behave properly by respecting everything that I wanted and your father wanted," she said while looking at Carmella. "Carmella of all people, why are you questioning the last will and testament of your dad? Is the percentage of your share not enough including your kids? I didn"t expect that I am going to here this from you," the old woman continued speaking while looking to all of them.
Auntie Carmella couldn"t looked at the old woman. It seemed that there was something that Drake didn"t know about her Auntie because the way his grandmother was talking to her.
"Do you want me to say this in front of Nelson"s son and your children?" Drake"s grandmother continued. "So, they can be aware of what happened."
Silence occupied the room again for a couple of seconds.
"Again, I am serious and you have to take this seriously. If all of you wouldn"t behave, everything that you are seeing will be donated in the charity. So, if I am you, you better think again in having a fight about your inheritance," the old woman said to all of them.
Drake nodded to the old woman. He was not worrying because he was not stepping down into someone.
He was fair and if he was the one to ask, he didn"t want to take over the company. He wanted to build his own business but his grandmother talked to him advising him that he was a good fit of the chairman position.
Drake didn"t know what he should be doing when he saw his grandmother looking at his direction.
"Grandma," Drake suddenly called her.
"Yes?"
"Are you okay? I will be buying the last one you have showed us. I will go ahead and also quit in the company so nothing would be given issue," Drake said while looking at his grandmother. "I am assuming this wouldn"t affect the inheritance I have before grandfather died, right?"
"That is correct. The only asset that were included were the once in the last will and testament, nothing else," Drake"s grandmother said as she tried to answer Drake"s question.
"Okay then. If you fight and continue to fight to any members of the family then, let"s just donate the inheritance I got from grandfather."
Drake could see the way that his Auntie was looking at him. Her eyes were like spears that could kill him he wouldn"t be able to dodge his gaze.
"Yes, that"s really what I am going to do," she said. "Go back to your room. I don"t want to hear any commotions once I am on my room. After this, I will call my lawyer and get the last will and testament revised according to this rule."
"Mom, you cannot do that," Auntie Carmella said to Drake"s grandmother before the old woman could even get out of the study room.
"Why? No one can tell me what I cannot do. You should know that. Everything is possible as long as it was approved by the lawyer," she said without turning her back. "I am exhausted already. I will be back in my room. Let"s end this conversation. This has been decided whether you like it or not. So, if I were you, I will be behave as long as I am still alive. Once I die, you can do whatever you like to each other but now I am here, no one of you should fight any member of the family," the old woman said full of authority in her voice.
Drake never heard his grandmother in that kind of tone. It seemed that she really lost her patience because of his Auntie Carmella. But Drake couldn"t help but think what was with his Auntie and what was the reason why they inherited less percentage than his father?
There were a lot of questions that pop up inside his mind because of what happened. He tried not to tell anything to his grandmother because he was afraid that there might be something that would happen to her and he wouldn"t allow that.
The old woman was finally gone in the room. Drake noticed that his Auntie Carmella was looking sharply at her.
"What are you trying to do? Do you really need to say that? You are really that proud to brag everything that you?" Auntie Carmella opened her mouth and said minced words to him. He couldn"t believe that he was his Auntie, his father"s only sister.
"Auntie, please continue to fight and start an argument if you want to lose everything that you have. For all I now, you are not even use to go in poor places. So, if you will not behave, probably you will be thrown there," Drake said to the woman as he was meeting her gaze.
"I cannot believe what you are thinking, Drake. This is not a joke. This is not a deal that you should be deciding by yourself. I will fight you for as long as I could," Auntie Carmella said to him.
"Go and the find yourself that the inheritance that you are trying to fight for was already gone from our hands. I think grandma is serious. She would really be going to do that."
"Stop and enough, Drake. I couldn"t believe that you can manipulate people.
"Well, taken after you," he said and then smirked at her.
Auntie Carmella shook her head while she was looking at him.
"That"s enough, Drake. Go and eat in the dining room. Ask the chef what you want to eat," his father said in an authoritative tone. "You, Carmella, shut your mouth or else say goodbye to the kind of life you have right now."
Auntie Carmella was left dumbfounded in the room.
Drake couldn"t believe that she really had no plans of surrendering even after what his grandma said. He knew that there was something between his grandma and his Auntie and he couldn"t help but feel curious about that.
He went to the kitchen first before he went up to his room.
Suddenly, he felt hungry because of the kind of conversation he had with Auntie Carmella. It was pretty obvious that they were only going in circles. The woman didn"t want to accept all the explanation that they were trying to give to her.
He didn"t take a while in the dining room and then he went upstairs in his room.
He would be alone again. How he wished that Harmony was on his side at the moment. He knew that the woman would be able to ease the pain and the confusion that he have inside his chest. He didn"t know how he was able to keep himself calm back then. But the truth was, deep inside, he wanted to turn into a beast and give what Auntie Carmella wanted.
Drake hated her because she was just thinking about herself and her children. She never thought about their grandma"s condition. He never thought that there was a person like his Aunty existed in the world. They only care about themselves and no one else.
Drake decided to go upstairs to his room so he could take a rest.
He couldn"t believe with everything that happened today. He had been so exhausted. He felt his body lost all it"s energy. So as soon as he got inside of his bedroom, he laid his back on his bed.
He didn"t notice that he already dozed off.
Drake was awakened because of the continuous ring of his phone. It seemed that someone was actually calling him. But he was so tired and sleepy to even pick up his phone which was on the bedside table.
He tried to open one of his eyes and he found his surroundings spinning.
The ring ended and he was about to close his eyes again to go back to sleep when it rang again.
He was pissed off. Who on earth would be calling him in this kind of hour of the night? He wanted to shout and throw his phone because the caller was definitely in a wrong timing.
His temple was in pain and he was feeling so dizzy. So, the caller was expecting him to answer the phone in the wee hour of the night?
Suddenly, he opened his eyes and he thought that probably the caller was Harmony. What if something happened to her father that"s why she was calling.
He quickly get up and then he picked the phone on top of the bedside table.
His eyebrows were drawn together when he checked his call logs and saw that the number of the caller was unregistered. It was definitely not Harmony. She never told him that she was going to change her number.
Drake couldn"t help but wonder who the caller was.
He didn"t know whether he would call back the number or he would just be sleeping. What if it was just a prank call of someone who didn"t have something to do in his life.
He couldn"t believe that his head was so heavy. It felt like his mind was full and he couldn"t think clearly. He wanted to blame Auntie Carmella for making everything complicated for their family. He couldn"t believe that she and her children were not satisfied with their shares. They were not doing anything in the company so why would they demand for a higher percentage of share? Couldn"t they just be thankful that the old Villarama"s still share their wealth to them?
He couldn"t really understand where his Auntie Carmella was coming from.
She was the youngest, but she was the least involve in the company activities. She chose to live like a princess and flaunt the family"s wealth.
And based on his observation. It looked like the woman didn"t like the idea that he was the heir instead of her children. But it should be clear to her that he was the only grandson who was carrying the Villarama"s last name. And he was not bragging but because of that, he knew that his grandfather was fond of him because of that.
Drake also didn"t fail anyone of them. It was only Auntie Carmella who was spreading wrong information.
