Chapter 57

Harmony"s heart was beating so fast as they have returned from the ground floor. As soon as they got near her mother, she heard the door opening.
She hadn"t heard the result, yet her knees were so soft like of a jelly. How she wished that it was good news from the doctor.
She quickly sat down as she might fell on the floor.
"You okay?" Drake said to her and then he guided her to put down the cup of coffee she was holding on the chair next to her.
"Yes, I am sorry. I couldn"t just fight back the nervous that I am feeling," she lifted her head and to her dismay, it was not a doctor but a nurse who came out.
She and Drake saw her mother quickly went to the nurse.
"How is the operation going? Is everything okay?" Her mother asked one after the other.
"I am sorry, ma"am but we cannot tell it right now because the surgery isn"t yet done," the nurse said. "Let us just wait for the doctor and as soon as it is done, they will let you know the outcome," she added and then she continued to walk her way.
They just followed the nurse with their eyes and Harmony could see the dismay on her mother"s eyes. She knew that she was just worried about her father just like her.
Drake guided her mother back on the chair.
"Ms. Catalina, it"s going to be okay. So, just sit and continue to calm yourself. I know that Harmony"s dad is a strong man so he would be able to pass this through," he said and then he even smiled to the lady.
He was unable to held himself and he hugged Ms. Catalina.
"I am just here, Ms. Catalina. If you want to cry, you can but I know that this will pass and your husband"s operation is successful," he said as he tried to comfort the woman.
"Thank you, Drake. You don"t know how grateful I am with all the things that you have done to us especially to Harmony"s father," her mother said while looking intently to the man. "I can say that you really love my daughter because you are willing to do this."
Drake almost choke because what the woman said but he tried to hide the shock that he felt after he heard what he said.
He quickly distanced himself to the woman and took a sip of his coffee.
"No problem, Ms. Catalina. I am just here for you and your family. Just like what you did to me when I was in Italy," he said to Ms. Catalina.
Harmony was just listening to the conversation of the two people.
She couldn"t say anything because she felt like there were no words that would like to come out from her mouth.
She just continued drinking her coffee and she was hoping that soon the door would pass and the would finally hear the news about her father.
"Aren"t you going to school, Harmony?" Her mother asked. She just shook her head. Even if she would come to school her heart and her mind would be in this place so there"s no sense to be there.
She would just leave everything here so better to wait for the result of the operation.
Her heart was pounding so fast because of how long the operation was taking. Though she was trying to console herself that the longer that it takes, the higher the survival rate of the person undergoing the surgery.
"I am sorry, mom. Even if I go to school now, I will just think about dad," she said in a low voice.
"I know what you feel, sweetie. Drake is right. We just have to stay calm and wait for the door to open. If we let our mind think a lot of things then our greatest enemy would be ourselves. We should not let fear to be on us," Ms. Catalina said and then she smiled to Harmony.
"Yes, mom. I know that Dad will be able to survive this operation. There are a lot of things that he had been through already so I know he could make it," Harmony said and then she took a sip of coffee again.
"That"s the right mindset. I know that it is not easy to do but that"s the least that you could do while waiting here. You cannot let the negativity grow inside you," Drake said while looking at Harmony and Ms. Catalina.
They both nodded on what he said.
"Drake is right, mom. I know our family will surpass this," she said and then she looked at Drake. "Aren"t you tired yet? Mom and I should be okay here. If you want to go to the private room or probably if you want to go home, you can do that," she said.
She also felt sorry for the man because he needed to stay with them for the whole night. He said that he wouldn"t be able to sleep as well if he didn"t know how everything went.
"I should be okay. Don"t think so much about me," Drake said and then he smiled at her.
Despite of the kind of family Drake had, she could tell that the man had the right mindset. He was so positive and calm since earlier when her dad went inside the operating room.
She just nodded her head and looked at him.
Harmony found Drake very handsome. He was the typical moreno yet he had a very expressive pair of eyes and it made perfect with his thick eyebrows.
He could be a celebrity if he only wanted. He could be a model of any product.
"Is there something wrong? Is there a dirt in my face?" Drake said while she was looking in her face and that made her startled. She never thought that the man was staring at her and she was caught to be looking at him.
