Chapter 78

Drake smiled at Harmony.
"I understand and like what I have said earlier, I love you and I am willing to wait until you are ready again," he said while looking straight to the woman"s eyes. "It doesn"t matter how long how should have to wait. I will just be here on your side no matter what happened. So, please don"t push me away."
Harmony smiled at him.
"There"s no reason for me to do that. I just have to collect myself before I say anything. I know that you knew how my heart had been broken into pieces and there is still a part of me that is bleeding because of that," she said. For the first time, she had opened up with Drake about what she was feeling. "I know to myself that I have already moved on. But the pain is still here," she continued and pointed her heart.
She smiled bitterly.
Drake was just looking at her and he could see how much he was trying to understand everything that she was saying.
"I know that it isn"t easy to trust again after what happened to you. I will not ask for you to trust me because I want you to discover yourself that you are ready to trust again," Drake said and she felt like there was something that touched her heart.
She never heard those kinds of words from Paul. She looked at Drake. She never had seen this man so serious whenever they were together. Just now.
In all honesty, she didn"t know what she should feel. She wanted to jump in joy because the man whom she was starting to love also loved her but at the same time there was fear inside her chest. She was scared because of what happened to her and Paul.
It was very easy to say that they love each other but the question would be for how long? She was afraid that she might hear again the words from Paul. She"s so scared that she would be hearing the same words again from Drake.
What if the man didn"t love her? What if he just appreciated her presence? What if he was just mistaken what he was feeling because she was just the only woman around him?
These were some of the questions that were running inside her head at the moment. But there"s none that came out from her lips.
"Thank you for your understanding, Drake. Since I met you, my life had changed. Maybe if you didn"t approach me back there in the café when Paul left me, I don"t know if I am still me," she said full of sincerity. When Paul left her, she didn"t know what to do. She didn"t know what she should be thinking about herself. Where did she go wrong and the man had left her? They had been together for so long and in all her dreams, he was included. So, she couldn"t help but ask herself.
Drake hugged her again. She felt the warmth of his body in her body. She couldn"t deny that the man who owned her heart now was Drake.
But she didn"t want say anything yet. She wanted Drake to wait and let him realize if he really loved her. And on top of that, she didn"t want to think that she was easy to get.
"I am just here. Like what I am always telling you. I know that you are confused of everything that"s happening and I am not saying that you answer back my love. I know that Paul came back and I am not sure what exactly you feel for the man but I will understand. Just tell me. Just be honest with me, that"s all I am asking from you," he said to her while he was rubbing her back.
"Thank you, Drake. I am thankful that God sent you to me. Sometimes, I feel like you are too good to be true," she said and then smiled as she lifted her head to look at the man. "I thought before you are heartless because of how rude you approach me but I have proven to myself that I am wrong."
"Silly," he said and then he pinched her nose.
"By the way," Harmony said and then she distanced her body from him. "Dad is going home and thank you for arranging everything. Mom wanted to invite you at the house," she said to him.
"Oh, no problem. Can I still come every day?"
"Of course. I know that it would be good for mom to have someone to talk to around her while dad is recovering," she said. "By the way, I decided to stop and I will just find a work to help my parents with the expenses at home."
"But you don"t have to---"
"Everything that you have done is enough, Drake. Any other help aside from Dad"s recovery, I wouldn"t accept it anymore," she said in a serious tone as she cut him in the middle of his sentence. She had already expected this conversation. "I know that you wanted to help but you have already done so much for me. This time let me help myself and my family. Sometimes, there are things we need to let go for other things to work out," she continued while looking at him. She was hoping that the man could understand her.
Drake nodded his head and she felt relieved.
"I know what you want. But let me know where you are working or if you want, I can check in our company if there"s a vacant position," he said to her.
She shook her head. "I want this to do it in my way."
Drake looked at her and then took a deep breath. His eyes were as if saying that he already gave up.
"Alright, if that"s what you wanted then I won"t insist but you have to make sure you tell me where are you working."
