Chapter 80

Drake didn"t know what to say to Harmony. After his confession and of what he said that he like to pick her up at her work, the woman suddenly went silent. There were no words that came out from the two of them.
The woman was at first staring outside the window and watching the streetlights while she was in a deep thought. But after a couple of minutes, she leaned her head in the headrest. She closed her eyes. It was as if she was sleeping.
Drake was just giving her a quick glance and then he would be focusing his gaze again in the road.
He felt bothered with the sudden change of the woman"s treatment to her.
But it could also be that she was thinking everything that he had said to her. Probably the woman was thinking as well about Paul.
He looked at her again as the car stopped from the traffic light.
Drake didn"t want to think anything that the woman would keep her distance to him. He was just hoping that the woman would understand that their contract was no longer applicable. He already broke the rule. He was unable to hold himself from falling in love to her.
After that incident when he introduced her to his family, his feelings towards her started to grow. He always wanted to protect her because she was the only person who defended him. She was the only person who believed in him. So , he felt like he couldn"t afford to lose her or even see her hurting.
That was his very reason why he didn"t have any second thought to help their family when something happened to her father. He couldn"t stand the thought that the woman was worrying and having difficulty with money.
He couldn"t explain to himself why all of a sudden, he had changed. He thought that no one could tame his heart. Because for him, woman would just leave when they already got tired of the man. Just like what his mother had done to his father.
Without his father"s knowledge, he knew the reason why his mother had left. Though he had a feeling that his father knew about it but he just chose to keep quiet. But he couldn"t hide the hatred that he was feeling for his mother.
And when he learned the truth through an investigation he conducted himself, he wanted to hate her but at the same time he was trying to understand why she had chosen that path. He wanted to understand why she had chosen to leave him in his father"s family.
It was not hidden to his knowledge that his mom was not likened by his father"s family. She was hated because she didn"t came from an elite family just like Harmony.
But unlike his father, he would be fighting for the love that he had for the woman. No matter what his family would be saying. He would be with her no matter what.
He was just looking at Harmon while the car was stopped. He wanted to touch her face. It was so fair and so smooth like the face of a baby. But he had to hold himself from doing that. He didn"t want to scare the woman of what he was going to do.
He let out a deep sigh.
Drake never thought that he would be in this kind of situation.
He had been the one being chased by women and now, he was like trying to snatch Harmony"s attention from Paul. He couldn"t understand himself because he was willing to wait and to get hurt because of loving her.
Though he knew that the woman wouldn"t do anything that would hurt him. That"s one thing that he knew.
Harmony had been so kind to him from the very start despite the rudeness that he had shown to her.
And, he was thinking that could be the reason why he let himself fell in love with her even if in their contract, they were not allowed to fall in love with each other.
He was hoping that the woman would soon forget about Paul. He was silently praying that she would realize once she woke up that she was also into him.
The honk of the cars brought him back to his senses. He didn"t notice that the car in his front already drove away.
He quickly stepped in the accelerator and he was hoping that Harmony wouldn"t wake up because of the loud sounds of the horn of the car which were behind them.
"What that sound? What happened?" The woman asked one after the another as she tried to open her eyes and then looked at the back.
He could see her eyebrows were drawn together while she was looking at him.
"I am sorry. I just didn"t notice that the light had already changed. Please sleep and I will just wake you up once we are already at your house," he said without looking at her. He felt so ashamed because of what happened.
"It"s okay. It"s already late and I think it should be okay. I already got all the sleep that I needed," she said and then the woman looked at him. She smiled. It was as if there hasn"t anything that happened between the two of them.
Drake couldn"t help but smile back at her as he thrown a quick glance at the woman.
He felt like his heart was melting because of what the woman did. Her smile and her laughter could really make her go crazy over her. He was just wishing that the woman wouldn"t change even after the confession that he had made to her.
He just been true to himself and nothing else. He was scared that Paul might confess to the woman.
