Chapter 93
"Harmony, why don"t you go to the shopping mall and get a new dress for Drake"s grandmother"s party?" Miss Catalina suggested.
"Mom," she mumbled. It seemed like her mother had already forgotten their situation. She was trying to not spend for unnecessary things while she was still looking for a job.
She didn"t want to be burden to her even if she could see that the goodies that she was selling were always sold out.
"Okay, I get it," she said and then she nodded.
Drake was looking at them as if he was trying to understand what was the meaning of the stares that she and her mother was giving for each other.
"I have a lot of dress at my wardrobe. I just really have to pick which on I like to wear for the party," she said immediately.
"Alright, if you say so. So, how"s the food, Drake? It seemed that you are not eating that much unlike before. Are you in a diet?" Miss Catalina asked Drake which made him chuckled.
"No, Miss Catalina. I am sorry, the food is the best as usual," he said smiling. "It just so happened that me and Harmony are discussing something.
"Oh, I see," she said and then she continued to get something in the fridge.
"What are you trying to do, Auntie?"
"I am preparing the ingredients that I need for the cake that has been ordered to me," she said as she continued to look at the cup boards as if she was searching for something.
"How many days do you need to get it done?" Drake continued asking question to the woman.
"It really depends. If it would just be small or if it would be cake with a lot of tiers," Miss Catalina explained to him.
"Oh, okay. I think it isn"t easy to bake a cake then. So, let"s say it would be a two-tier cake. How long for you to finish it?"
"Well, I think because of your Uncle"s condition, it would take me 2-3 days," she said. "I couldn"t leave him alone for a long time. So, sometimes I have to move away from the kitchen. That"s also the reason why I only accept limited orders even if we needed money. I am afraid that I might fail my customer"s expectation if I would be rushing my cakes."
"That"s right, Miss Catalina. It"s best for you to make cakes in a quality manner than to speed it up but it suffer when it comes to taste and it"s appearance.
"Exactly. Do you know how to bake?" Miss Catalina couldn"t help but as the man.
"No, I am sorry. I don"t have the chance because at the house, we have chef and the likes to prepare everything for us," he explained and Harmony didn"t feel any trace of Drake being overconfidence. It just sounded like he was just explaining things to her mother.
"Oh, I see. I couldn"t imagine how your house looked like, Drake. It must like a hotel" she couldn"t help but expressed herself.
"You are right, mom. They have chef and then they have study room, they have another office for her Auntie Carmella. Villarama"s are rich family based on the research that I have done."
"Wow, you did a research?" Drake"s eyes went round.
"No, I am just joking of course. But yeah, mom. It"s like a mansion and not a hotel. It had a grand stair case and I promised, even the carpet, I felt like I am not worthy to set my feet on them," she said and then chuckled.
"Oh, God. You must really rich, Drake. I am sorry if I cannot offer you anything when you are here at our house just like what you have when you are at your mansion."
"Miss Catalina, stop. Don"t believe her," Drake said while he was shaking his head. "Harmony what are you talking about? Geez, we are just a simple family and nothing else," he added.
"Oh, I didn"t know a simple family can own their own hospital and on top of that a person who came from a simple family who can drive a limousine everyday?"
Miss Catalina couldn"t help but laugh because of everything tat Harmony said.
"Alright, I give up but please, Miss Catalina, come to my grandmother"s party," he said almost in a begging tone.
"Who"s saying that we are not going to come? I told you, Drake, as long as your Uncle recovered then we will be going with Harmony. If not then Harmony can go there on her own," she said.
"I can pick her up, Miss Catalina. Please give me a call if you have to," the man said without looking at Harmony because he knew that the woman would just decline his offer.
"I can go there alone, Drake. You don"t have to pick me up. I am already a grown up," Harmony couldn"t help but interrupt their conversation.
"Yes, a very beautiful grown-up lady. So, do you think I would let you go at the party alone at night? There"s no way that I am doing that," he said in a firm voice which he didn"t notice.
Harmony just raised her eyebrows. It looked like Drake was being overprotective to her even if the man was not insisting for her to answer his love right away.
She just felt a bit uncomfortable because of all the strange gestures that he was showing her.
She just shrugged her shoulders.
"Whatever you want, Drake. It would be you that would get tired and not me," she said as she gave up with their conversation. She knew that if her mom would say anything there would be no way that she was going to win over Drake.
"Okay, Miss Catalina," Drake said as he was turning to her mother. "Please inform me if I need to pick up Harmony and I will do that," he advised her mother even without looking at her.
