Chapter 69

Harmony wanted to hug Drake for making her feel protected and safe.
After her encounter with Paul, she admitted that she was afraid but she had to trust Drake that he would be there for her even if he was not supposed to be doing that.
"Drake, I don"t know what to say anymore but thank you," she said and smiled.
After a couple of minutes of silence in the room, it was broken by a couple of knocks and then the door opened where the nurse came in.
"Ma"am, the patient would be here any moment. Please make sure all the instructions that were given to you earlier are all ready," she said while giving all of them a look.
Harmony"s mother nodded. "Yes, there should be no problem. So, how is my husband?" Her mother asked the nurse, and she couldn"t hide the worry that she had for her father.
The nurse smiled at her mom which also made her feel relieved.
"He is doing great, ma"am. But please wait for the doctor. He knows what to say about the patient," she said to them and then she left the room.
"Mom, did you hear her?" She asked her mother while looking at her full of concern. "Stop thinking, dad is already out of danger. They are already transferring him here," she said.
Harmony felt like a thorn was removed inside of her because of what she had heard from the nurse.
"Harmony is right, Ms. Catalina. You just have to relax and I think freshen up so when your husband comes in, you look good," he said and smiled at her mother.
"Silly, but he is right, mom. I brought you some pair of clothes that you can use to change so you don"t have to go home," she said.
"Thank you for the both of you. I cannot really imagine what would happen to me if you are not here by my side. I could already imagine how you have been, sweetie, when I was away and your dad got sick," Miss Catalina said and she could see the guilt that crossed her eyes.
She smiled at her and then hugged her.
"Mom, please don"t think about that. The important thing is we are all here and we both can take care of dad this time, okay?" She said to her mother while she was still hugging her tightly.
"You see, Drake? You must really take good care of my daughter. She is a loving daughter to us. If I will know that you did something to hurt her, I will never forgive you," Miss Catalina said instead and turned to Drake.
Drake scratched his head and it was obvious that he was not ready for what her mother had said.
"Oh, you can"t answer. Why? Do you have plans of hurting my only daughter?" Her mother continued.
Drake quickly shook his head. "No, Miss Catalina. Rest assured that I am going to take care of her."
The man was looking at her as if he meant every words that he uttered.
How she wished that was really the case. Drake would take care of her as if she was his real girlfriend.
"Thank you then, Drake," her mother said and then she turned her back and went inside the washroom.
There was a couple of minutes of silence that was between the two of them. It was as if they didn"t know what to say towards each other.
She was lost at word, and she didn"t know what exactly she should be saying to Drake.
"Look, I am sorry if you are being pressured by mom. Just go with it," she said without looking at him.
"Silly, there"s really nothing to be sorry about. Anyway, everything that I told her is true. I am going to protect you by any means that I can especially to your psychotic ex-boyfriend," he said and she saw the anger in his face when he mentioned about her ex-boyfriend.
"Yeah, that guy. I really don"t know what he was up to," she said and let out a deep sigh. "It is as if he couldn"t understand what I am saying."
Drake nodded.
"And that"s just makes him more dangerous. To be honest, if I would be you, I will report him to the police that he threatened you. He looks so desperate and obsessed to you," Drake said in a serious tone. "With that I cannot really say what else he could do to you."
"I don"t know what to say to be honest. When we were still together, Paul isn"t like that. He couldn"t even lift his finger even to an ant," she said while her forehead was knitted.
She couldn"t help but wonder why the man suddenly changed.
"Well, we really don"t know but again, it"s better to be safe than sorry. So, what I did is, I talked to Grandma. I told her that you need me so I am filing an indefinite leave from the office. One of my cousins is relieving me. So, I will always be with you all the time," he said which made her jaw dropped.
"D--- Drake, are you serious?" She said while shaking her head. "You are just unbelievable."
"Like what I promised to your mother, I will protect you by any means that I can," he continued. "I don"t want her to worry about you. She is like a mother to me. So, if you don"t want Miss Catalina to get hurt, that"s also what I wanted. So, don"t reject this idea of mine," he said in a serious voice.
"Whatever, I just don"t feel like I deserve everything that you are doing to me right now, Drake. Isn"t it so much?" She couldn"t help but ask.
He shook his head.
"I don"t think so. And, you never ask me to do this. I did it with my own will," he said. "On top of that, who else do you think deserve this kind of treatment?"
