Chapter 92
"Do you have something to wear for the party, sweetie?" Miss Catalina asked Harmony which made even Drake looked at her.
She shook her head as she bit her lip. A lot of things happened and given that her dad just went out of the hospital, she didn"t have the time to check for a gown or dress for it. Besides, Drake didn"t say what would be the attire for the occasion.
"What is the attire?" She just asked him so she could find something in her wardrobe.
"Oh, it"s semi-formal but since you are performing, I suggest that you wear a gown," he said.
"Oh, wouldn"t I be getting attention if I would be wearing a gown to a semi-formal occasion?"
He shrugged his shoulder.
"It"s up to you. That is just my suggestion," Drake said to her.
"Alright, I will try to find something in my wardrobe later."
"Thank you for accepting my invitation and for playing the pi---"
"I couldn"t count how many times you have already thank me, Drake. Would you like me to thank you non-stop as well with everything that you have done for my family?" Harmony as her eyes went round while looking at Drake.
She couldn"t believe that the man was acting as if it was a very big deal for her to do. She was just going play a piece for his grandmother and nothing else.
"I know but I just appreciate it because even if you have been through a lot you still wanted to be at my grandmother"s special day," he continued.
"Don"t think so much about it. I also wanted your grandmother to be happy that"s why I am doing it. I am doing this for her and not for you, just to be clear," Harmony said while she was meeting Drake"s eyes.
Harmony shook her head when she saw the man winked at her mother.
"Yes, sure."
"Alright, let"s go ahead and eat now. This should be good," Miss Catalina said as she put the pancake that she made on the plate.
She put a pancake to Drake"s plate and then to Harmony"s plate.
She prepared some blueberry, honey and then she put it on the pancake.
"I am sure that your dad will like this, sweetie," she said widely smiling at Harmony and at Drake.
"Pretty sure, Miss Catalina. It is prepared full of love," Drake said while smiling.
"You bet," she said while she was shaking her head. "So, the two of you, continue eating. Harmony make a coffee for Drake. I will go at your dad"s room to feed him," she said and then she stood up even without waiting for Harmony"s response.
Drake just continued eating his pancake after Miss Catalina left the room. He didn"t know what to say because Harmony seemed not to be fine talking to him.
He could feel the tension in the air between the two of them. The silence that was filling the room was also deafening.
He coughed.
"Harmony, are you mad at me?"
"Huh?" The woman said while her eyebrows were drawn together. It was as if he had spoken to a foreign language with her reaction.
"I said, are you mad at me? You seemed so quiet," he said while looking at her.
Harmony put down the cutlery on her plate.
Then she drank the fresh orange juice that was also prepared by her mother.
"Look, Drake, just give me some time to think and just some space. A lot of things happened and I don"t know how should I restart my life. My father had been hospitalized, I have to drop out from school and I have to find work so I can pay back the money we owed you," she said in a calm voice. "I hope that you can understand why there is silence on my side. It"s not because I am mad at you but I am just going through a lot of things at the moment," she added.
Drake felt guilty. He should have understood the woman. She was right. Their family had gone a lot of things and yet here he was, the only thing that he was thinking was his feelings.
"I am sorry. I am just worried. I don"t want our friendship to be ruined because of my foolishness," he said.
Harmony shook her head. "I think that is so impossible to happen, Drake. I don"t know if I will ever fine someone like you again in my life. Even if I searched the whole world and wonder, you are unique. I will not see someone like you who is willing to give everything for a friend," Harmony said while she was smiling at her. "I am sorry if you feel bad or what. I just wanted to be quiet. That"s it and nothing else."
Drake couldn"t help but felt mad at himself. How on earth he could be that sensitive? It looked lie Harmony didn"t changed. She just needed some time to processed everything that was happening between him and her. Then the hospitalization and her father"s recovery also added up to their situation.
"Thank you, Harmony. I am sorry for being insensitive," he said to the woman in a low voice. Drake couldn"t even lift her head because of embarrassment. He could feel his cheeks getting hotter as he looked down on the floor.
"It"s okay, Drake. No issues," she said while smiling at her. "Don"t be afraid or get worried that I may not be able to attend the party of your grandmother. I am sure to be there and play the piece that she love," she added while looking at him.
Drake felt relieved after he heard what Harmony said. Suddenly, he felt like his world was going to crash earlier when Harmony was being cheeky. He couldn"t say anything that she wouldn"t be having anything against it.
"Thank you, big time, Harmony. You don"t know how much you are making me so happy."
