Chapter 82
Drake couldn"t help but hit the steering wheel. This was what he was thinking. Once he told Harmony of what he was feeling, there would be a chance that the woman"s treatment towards him would change.
And he was not mistaken.
How could he be carried away by what he was feeling?
He shook his head and he was brought back to his sanity when he heard the sound of the honking car from behind.
He quickly started the car and drove again.
Drake tried to be focus on the road and tried to calm his emotions. He knew that he could not do anything to take back his words. He had to just make sure that he would show the respect he had for the woman.
He shouldn"t make Harmony feel that she was obliged to return the love that he had for her.
He admitted that he never thought that he would fall in love with her.
She was rude. And, he thought that Harmony was a woman that couldn"t be held because she always had something to say. But slowly, he didn"t know that his heart started to treat the woman differently. Since they had the contractual relationship and he introduced her to his family, he saw the true colour of the woman.
She was someone who would fight for what was right and most of all, the reason why he was unable to stop himself from falling in love with her, Harmony was the woman who believed in him. She was the first woman who listened to him and never gave judgement in everything that he was doing.
She was just next to him and supporting him in everything that he was doing.
Just thinking about that made him asked himself, what should he do to make the woman his? He could feel that her ex-boyfriend, Paul, would be a great threat to the relationship that he was offering to Harmony. But he wouldn"t allow him to go back to the woman"s life.
He couldn"t allow the man to hurt Harmony again. He wouldn"t want to see the sadness in her eyes. She was someone that was worth to be love and not to be dump by a man. And, Paul, who did he think he was? He was nothing but someone who thought that he was a heartthrob and believed that all the girls at their campus eyed for him.
He shook his head. He had some investigation and he learned that after that breakup with Harmony, the man had been in a relationship with a woman who came from a wealthy family. He was sure that the woman had already dumped him that"s why he was coming back to Harmony"s life. Drake tried to hold his tongue earlier when he was with Harmony. He didn"t want to tell her what her ex-boyfriend had done to her. She just had a lot of things lately and he felt like Harmony didn"t deserve to get hurt because of him again.
It didn"t take a while and he was finally at their place. He put his car in the garage and then he started to walk heading inside the house.
Whether Aunt Carmella would be there, or his father would be there, it didn"t really matter for him. He would say everything that he wanted to say when they would throw non-sense question. He was just hoping that his grandmother wouldn"t be there. As he couldn"t answer them back as he needed to hold his tongue. He needed to avoid making his grandmother upset even if his father and his Aunt were obviously making no sense.
Drake took a deep breath before he entered the house. He had to prepare himself emotionally and as well as his brain for a battle with his father and his Aunt. Once they saw him, he knew that they would be questioning where he was and what he had been doing in his life.
He couldn"t help but shook his head and smiled wryly.
He didn"t want to feel this way towards his father but he couldn"t help it. He was still hurt because he couldn"t believe in him when he was his own child.
"Where have you been, Drake?" It was his Aunty Carmella"s voice that welcomed him as soon as he got inside the house.
He turned his gaze to her. He could see her with his cousins in the living room. Her children whom she wanted to be the successor of the Villarama company instead of him. He just felt sorry for them because no matter what they would be doing, it was him who was in the last will and testament of their grandfather.
Though they never got tired of creating a mess to prove that he didn"t deserve to be the heir of their family business.
He felt bad at the same time he felt pity towards them.
They wanted his position but no matter what they would be doing, the company would be ending up in his hands.
Since he had been advise to marry a woman he never met, he got serious with everything and even secretly consulted their family lawyer. And, since he was the successor of the old man Villarama, the loyalty of the man was on him. So no matter what he was asking him, he would be answering it with sincerity.
So, now, even if he would be breaking the contract that he had with Harmony, he should be okay. He didn"t need that to get his rightful inheritance. And, he felt bad because his father really had been a part of the plan of disinheriting him. He couldn"t imagine what kind of father he was for doing that to him.
"Where have you been, dear?" It was his grandmother this time who asked him. She just came out from the study room and behind her was his father.
Drake couldn"t help but wonder what the two were doing inside.
