Chapter 90
Harmony felt her cheeks got hotter because of what her mother told Drake.
How could she tell those things to Drake?
"Still mom, please give me some dignity," she said, and she couldn"t look at Drake.
Harmony could see in the corner of her eyes that the man was smiling and trying to hold his laughter.
Her mother was looking at the man and then she winked as if she did a great job.
She couldn"t believe that her mom would do that to her. It was as if Drake was her son, and she was not her daughter.
"That"s okay, Harmony. I think that is pretty normal. There"s no need to be embarrassed because I feel that way to and that"s the reason why I am here," he said which made her dumbfounded.
She couldn"t react about what he said because her mother was around. How could he be so comfortable joking around that kind of thing?
How could he tell her that in front of her mother? Did he forget that they were in a contract? Or was he really serious with everything that he said to her last couple of days? Was the man really fell in love to her?
How she wished because she knew that was what her heart was feeling at the moment.
"By the way, Auntie, Harmony, how"s Uncle doing?" Drake said as he changed the topic. It seemed that the man felt that she was getting uncomfortable on how the conversation was going.
"He is doing great, Drake. I think there"s really no need for you to worry. Like what the doctor said yesterday, his vital signs especially his heart was responding great, so we are hoping for his speedy recovery," Miss Catalina said while looking at Drake. "Thank you for helping us from the hospital until my husband got transferred at home. I don"t know what I should be telling you because of everything that you have helped us," she added.
"Your appreciation means a lot to me, Miss Catalina. I am happy for the great news. We just keep praying that soon he will get up and come with us as we go out," Drake said which made Harmony"s eyebrows drawn together. What did the man mean with the last words that he said? Why would he like to go out with his father? "I hope he could attend my grandmother"s party."
"Oh, yeah, right. What does your grandma like?" Harmony said as she couldn"t think of what to bring as a present for the old woman. She was thinking about what to bring as a gift but she couldn"t think of anything since the woman had everything that she wanted.
"It"s up to you. Always remember that the thoughts that counts," Drake said which made her nodded her head.
"Oh, right. Thank you."
"But there"s one thing that I wanted to ask," Drake said while looking intently at her.
Her heart started to beat so fast as she was waiting what would Drake ask her. She wanted to yell at the man because he was just looking at her. It was as if he couldn"t say whatever he wanted to say.
"Hey, is there something wrong?" She said as she couldn"t control herself.
He shook his head.
"No, everything is fine. It"s just that I am not sure if you would agree with this. But I just like to ask a favour if you can actually play the piano at my grandma"s birthday. The one that you played when you first met my family," he said and then he looked at her.
His eyes were sincere as if they were begging for her to say yes.
"I think why now? That sounds great for me," Miss Catalina said when she took a while to respond to Drake. "You can do it, sweetie?" It was not a question, but her mother was asking her to do it.
She nodded.
"Yes, I think so," she said, and she forced a smile on her lips as she nodded her head. She just realized that was just a little thing compared with everything that the man had done to her and her family.
She knew that he just wanted his grandmother to be happy.
"Thank you, Harmony. You know what, Miss Catalina? My grandmother never forgets Harmony because of the piece that she played. It was one of her favourite and she even said that her rendition to that piece was perfect to her ears. That"s the reason I wanted her to play it. I really appreciate it, Harmony," Drake said while smiling at her.
Harmony was just smiling and nodded her head as she looked at the man. The happiness that she could see was genuine. It was not something that the man was just forcing to feel.
"Okay, I will need to have some practice. I am assuming there would be a lot of people at the party, right?" Harmony said. She knew that the old woman was so popular in the business world so it would be very impossible for a quiet and small party. The family from elite society would have grand and elegant party as far as she knew.
"Oh, actually, it was just a solemn gathering. No press. Just the family and people who were very close to her. That"s her request and number one condition for us to be able to hold a party for her birthday. If it wouldn"t be a private party then she wouldn"t like to have it," he said. "She"s really old and that"s why I have seen to her. Most of the time, she only wanted intimate celebration."
"Well, I think that is something great. Sometimes there are moments that we only wanted to share within our family, right?" Miss Catalina said.
"Yes, mom. But they have a very different kind of life from us. Sometimes whether they like it or not, there will be cameras that are waiting for them to steal that moment."
