Chapter 65

"Mom, here"s all the stuff I got from dad. I already took some of your stuff," she said as she went inside the private room.
"Thank you, sweetie. Where is Drake?" Her mother asked and that"s the only time that she realized that the man was not behind her.
Her eyebrows were knitted together as she wondered where the man could be.
"I thought he was behind me," she said.
She put down the bag that she carried on the top of the bed.
"Do you want me to look for him? Do you want to say anything, mom?" She couldn"t help but ask.
"I already spoke to the doctor, sweetie. They told me that your dad might still need to stay at the hospital for the whole month to monitor his recovery," her mother said to her without beating around the bush. She could sense the worry in her voice. It was worry about the bills that they had to pay.
"Is this why you are looking for Drake?" She asked her again.
She saw her mom nodded and then bowed her head. She knew that she was embarrassed but she couldn"t do anything.
This was an exclusive hospital, and she knew to stay here for the whole month would cost another million.
The silence in the room was deafening.
And, the knock on the door broke the tranquillity.
When it opened, they saw Drake.
"Is there something wrong?" The man asked as soon as he got inside.
She noticed that Drake was holding a paper in one of his hands.
She let out a deep sigh. Harmony didn"t know how to start to the man everything that her mother had told her about the stay of her dad in the hospital for the whole month.
"Drake, mom spoke to the doctors, and they recommend for dad to stay here for the whole month. Is there a way to transfer him to the wards?" She said without beating around the bush. Probably, if her father would be in ward, they could save a little.
"No, there"s no need to do that. They spoke to me and grandma. And, everything had already been taken care of," he simply said. His tone was so casual as if what he had done was just nothing.
Harmony was shocked because she never expected Drake to do this to her.
She was supposed to be the one who was doing him a favour but what was happening was the other way around.
"Wait? What? Are you serious?" She asked one after the other while looking at him.
She saw in the corner of her eyes that her mother was also shocked about what Drake had just said.
It was just unbelievable because they were talking about millions of money here.
So, would the Villarama give the services that her father had use for free? That was just so unbelievable.
To her surprise, Drake nodded at her as an answer to her questions.
"Yes, this is all good. There"s no need for you to worry. I think grandma also put your father to the charity list for those people who had heart diseases. So, you really don"t have to worry and you don"t have to think that these help are all coming from us. Here at the hospital, we had a lot of charity groups for each disease, and we look for sponsors," he said and then smiled at her.
Harmony couldn"t believe what Drake had said and how he had clarified everything that she was thinking.
It was not just his family who had helped them.
"Is there a way that we could thank these people?" Ms. Catalina interrupted their conversation.
"Yes, ma"am. Actually, you have to fill this form and then we can give it to them. The charity will forward your information to the sponsors, and they will schedule a meeting with you," he said and then he handed the form to her mother.
"Thank you, Drake. I don"t know what already happened to us if you are not there. I am not sure if you are already aware but everything that you are doing to us, especially to my husband, it means a lot," Ms. Catalina said as she was obviously trying to fight back her tears but not her voice which sounded crack.
"Thank you, Drake. I really appreciate everything that you are doing for us. I don"t know how we can repay you," she said as she wanted to hug the man but she restrained herself because her mother was there and on top of that, she didn"t want Drake to think anything about her.
"Silly, Harmony. Of course, I will do everything for my girlfriend"s happiness. I know that you will be happy when your dad recovered so I will just be here beside you to support you while we are waiting for him to go back home," he said and then he smiled at her.
She shook her head.
She knew that the man was just trying to make her feel comfortable.
"Still, thank you for doing all of these even if you know that you don"t have to," she said and then she looked at her mother.
"By the way, Ms. Catalina, there"s something that I need to talk about with you," Drake said and then he sat down on the couch inside the private ward.
"Okay, what is it?" Her mother said while she looked at the man.
Drake looked at her and she couldn"t understand herself why her heart was beating so fast while she was waiting for the man"s answer.
It was as if there were drums that were rolling inside her chest. There was silence in the room, and it was deafening.
The only thing that she could hear was her heart that continuously hammering inside her.
"I want to invite you to my grandmother"s birthday party. I know that your family is going through something but I just like to take the chance and I will definitely understand if you cannot come."
