Chapter 76

"Drake, isn"t this just too much? I don"t know what else to say," Harmony said to Drake.
The man was just smiling in front of him.
"I am deeply buried in debt to you. Jeez! How am I supposed to be paying you with everything that you have done?" She continued.
"For Pete"s sake, Harmony! Am I even asking you to pay for it?" Finally, Drake said to her. "I couldn"t believe you. I am not saying anything," he added.
Harmony was shocked because of his reaction.
"I am sorry," Drake said when he noticed that she went quiet. "I am just really confused because why on earth you are asking me about paying everything that I am doing for your dad."
"I am sorry, Drake. I just don"t want to abuse your kindness. This is just too much. I know that you cared for my mom and dad, but I am hoping before you do anything, tell me. Don"t just do it, please?"
Drake nodded while looking at her. She felt guilty because the man helped them and yet she was getting mad at him.
"I know you just wanted to help but Drake, I don"t want you feel that we are being kind to you because you are doing this to us," she continued.
"I am not thinking anything, but I get what you mean," he said. "I am sorry. I know I should have not decided on my own and ask you first. I am just afraid that you will decline."
"It"s okay. Let"s not make a big deal out of this," she said as she tried to calm herself down.
"By the way, you can just ask your mom to get the release paper from the cashier. Then, we can go home."
"Thank you, Drake. I don"t know how many times that I will be thanking you because everything that"s happening wouldn"t be possible if you are not here by my side. I don"t know what will happen to my dad," she said full of emotions while looking at the man. "I am sorry if I acted like that and if I have said those words to you. I am just afraid that I will get used to it. What if you will be gone? What will happen to me and my family?"
Harmony was unable to control her emotions and she didn"t notice that she was already crying. She was happy because finally her dad was going home but at the same time, she was ashamed to Drake. They didn"t spend any single cent. The man had shouldered everything at the hospital, and he even took care of all the equipment that his father needed at home.
She couldn"t help but feel emotional because she didn"t know who she could repay the man for everything that he had done for her and for her family.
Drake was unable to restrain himself and he pulled Harmony closed to him. He couldn"t stand the sight of the woman crying in front of him.
"Shh... I didn"t do everything that I have done so you cry. I did it because I don"t want to see you sad and having a hard time. I know, Harmony, it would be hard to believe but just like you, I wanted to protect you from anything. I couldn"t even understand myself but I wanted to be with you. I know we have a contract and I am sticking with it if that"s what you wanted. I am upset when you said about paying everything that I have done for you and your family," he said.
And Drake realized that it was so late for him to withdraw his words.
Harmony distanced herself from him and then she lifted her head.
"D--- Drake?"
"I am sorry. I know it"s a rule, but I don"t know what happened. I just found myself getting closer to you," he continued. Since he had already started everything then it might as well, he confessed everything that he had inside. He had been keeping them for so long and he knew that he was going to explode anytime soon. "I am sorry, I know that Paul is back in your life. But there"s really no competition between the two of us."
Harmony was just looking at him as if she was trying to understand everything that he had said. She looked like he had spoken another language which she couldn"t understand.
Drake felt his heart was pounding so fast while looking straight to the woman. Any way sooner or later he knew that he would be in this kind of moment so why not tell her everything that he felt for her.
"I am afraid that you will distance yourself from me, but I want you to know that I am still your friend. We still have the agreement we have, and I know for a fact that your heart is beating for someone else. So, please don"t feel bad for me if you don"t like me. Don"t feel like it is an obligation to like me because of everything that I have done for you," Drake said to Harmony.
Harmony was still shocked as if she couldn"t understand everything that he was saying.
Drake pulled him even closer to him and then he hugged her so tight as if he didn"t want to let her go anymore.
He never imagined that he would be confessing to the woman. Harmony was different to the other woman that he met before.
He wanted to take care of her but at the same time, he didn"t want to put pressure to her.
"It"s not an obligation for you to love me back. I am just hoping that our friendship will not change after everything that I have said to you," he said while he was rubbing the back of the woman.
He didn"t know what happened, but he let his emotions take control of himself. He said everything that he had been keeping for so long to Harmony.
