Chapter 68

Harmony and Drake went out of the private room.
She didn"t know what she should say or how would she react when she saw who was waiting for her.
It was Paul.
Probably, her mother wasn"t able to recognize the man.
"So, what do you want? Why do you keep on coming back when I already told you that everything between us is already over," she said in a low but firm voice as she didn"t want them to get the people who were also in the hallway. On top of that, she didn"t want her mother to hear their conversation.
She was sure that she would come out and would check what was happening outside.
Harmony was looking at Paul who was looking at Drake. It was the two men were trying to measure each other. The seriousness in their face made her heartbeat so fast.
She held Drake"s hands.
"Let"s go inside, Drake," she said as she pulled the man but Drake didn"t move from his place. He was still staring at Paul. Their gaze never removed each other"s eyes.
She could feel the sudden tension between the two men. And she knew that this was the last thing that she wanted to happen.
"Paul, can you just leave?" She said as she couldn"t hide the irritation towards the man in her voice.
"Harmony, is this the man that the whole campus is talking about? Is he the reason why you don"t want to accept me anymore?" This time Paul turned to her as he spoke. She saw both of his eyebrows lifted as he looked at her.
She didn"t know why she felt like the man meant something else in his words.
Paul shook his head while he smiled sarcastically. "I just couldn"t believe it. You were so in love with me before we broke up and in just a span of couple of weeks, you are already hooking up with someone else," he said and then he looked at Drake sharply.
She pressed her lips as she didn"t want to answer him anymore. Harmony knew that she didn"t owe him any explanation.
"So, because I am not rich though I am handsome, you are choosing this man over me? Is that right?" He continued. Paul looked at Drake as if he was challenging him.
Harmony could feel her heart hammering inside her chest.
She was really starting to hate Paul. How could he be so insensitive, and he really chose to continue pestering her while her father was still at the hospital.
"God!" She said almost her eyes popped out. "Seriously, Paul? Are we going to talk about this again?" She asked full of dismay.
Why it seemed like that she was the one who break up with him? Wasn"t he the one who woke up one day and he didn"t love her anymore? Did she have to say those words so he could remember everything that he had said to her when he left her at the Café?
"Bro, what don"t you leave? Please respect that Harmony"s father had a surgery and the family is going through something right now," Drake finally spoke. Harmony could feel that he was trying to hold his temper.
He was trying his best to stay calm.
Harmony saw as his jaws hardened.
"Paul, please?" She said in an almost pleading voice.
Paul shook his head. "So, why it looks like I am causing a problem? I only wanted to talk to you, Harmony. Why don"t you just go with me and let"s talk?"
She had to be firm with her answer.
"I am sorry but Paul, I will repeat myself again and hopefully, this would be the last time that I am going to do this," she said as she took a deep breath. "Everything that happened to us already ended when you left me in the café. You sound like I am the one who broke up with you but isn"t it you are the one who met me at the café and told me that you woke up one day and you don"t love me anymore?" She said to him while looking him directly in his eyes.
She didn"t want to say those words, but the man forced her. His attitude and everything that he was showing to her force her to remind her how painful that day was, but she had already moved on from that incident.
"I cannot talk to you anymore because there"s nothing to talk about. You should have known that yourself. You ended our three-year relationship and then I saw you dating another woman. So, let me ask you. Did she dump you and that"s why you are coming back to me? You should not pick up the trash that you already throw," she said to the man.
"Harmony, please let me explain," Paul said in a begging voice. He was looking at her and his eyes were pleading. It was as if he really wanted to talk to her. But no matter what he was going to say, she didn"t care anymore. For her everything that was between them already ended.
"Please leave," she said and then she was about to turn her back when all of a sudden, the man pulled her. She almost fell in the floor because of out of balance. Thankfully, Drake was on her side, and he was able to catch her before she could hit the floor.
"What are you trying to do?" Drake said almost roared in the hallway. The people were already looking at them and Harmony felt embarrassed. This was what she was trying to avoid. "Please, leave or you will force me to call the security to drag you out of this hospital."
Harmony was shocked because she knew that Drake had already lost his patience. She couldn"t imagine what could happen next.
"You better leave! Please, leave me alone," she said in a firm voice, but her tone already raised.
Paul rolled his fist and he gestured like he was going to punch Drake. But his fist stopped in the mid air when the security guards came in.
"Sir, please, just leave," the security guard said as he held his forearm.
"Paul? Can you please leave?" She said while looking at him.
"Harmony, I will leave but we will see each other again, I promise. This isn"t the last," Paul said and he was obviously threatening her.
Drake wanted to punch Paul because of what he said but Harmony stopped him.
"Drake just let him be. He couldn"t do anything to me," she said.
"Sweetie, what"s going on?" Her mother"s voice from behind startled her.
"Nothing, mom. Do you need anything?" She quickly asked and then she turned to her.
She was grateful that the security and Paul was no longer there.
"I heard a commotion that"s why I went out," she said while looking at her and Drake. Then, her mom looked at the hallway. All the people"s eyes were on them. Why wouldn"t they look at them? Paul caught all their attention and she couldn"t help but hate him for doing this to her. How could he drag her from shame?
It was as if he was saying that she was the one who ruined their relationship which was obviously not. He was the one who had left her.
She felt so bad that Paul had to do this to her.
"Hey, it"s okay. I won"t leave you and your mother here until Uncle recovered. I know that he is just saying that because he saw you with another man," Drake said to her to comfort her.
"Thank you for understanding and I am so sorry if you have to experience this shame, Drake," she said while looking at the man.
"It"s okay. I know that this would soon to happen because he already knew that you are with me. Knowing the girls in your campus, I am sure that rumours were already spreading about us and you cannot lie to me," he said. "But I am here to protect you by any means, Harmony."
She smiled at the man. If there was something that she was happy about everything that was happening that"s how Drake showed her how much he cared for her.
"Miss Catalina, don"t worry about it. It was just someone trying to make a noise here and the security have taken care of him," he said to her mother to calm her down.
"Oh, okay. I hope that they would be making sure that everyone is safe then," she said full of worry. "How about the two of you? Aren't you going back here?"
"We will, Mom. Let's go. What time would they be bringing dad in this room?" Harmony said as she was changing the topic.
They all went inside the private room.
Drake and Harmony were looking at each other.
Harmony's heart was pounding so fast as she walked inside the room. She couldn't believe everything that she had heard from Paul.
"Hey, I said don't think about that man. He is already out of his mind," Drake said and she saw how he clenched his fist.
Harmony knew that if she didn't stop him from there, the two would be hurting each other. And, because of what Paul had done, he just gave her more reason not to talk to him.
"I just couldn't really believe that he would go here and tell me things that I am not aware of. How could he sound like I was the one who broke up with him?" She said as she shook her head and rolled her eyes.
"Exactly but isn't it what we wanted to happen in the first place so he could go back to you?" Drake suddenly asked which made her stopped.
Her eyebrows were knitted together as well as forehead.
"Is that so? I cannot remember anything, I am sorry," she said as she lifted her eyebrows as if she was trying to recall everything that they have discussed.
"Whatever. But this is part of our agreement. I became your boyfriend because you wanted to make him jealous and he realized what he had thrown away. And, I think we succeeded because if you have seen his gaze, they could really kill me," he said and the chuckled. "But seriously, I cannot understand, Paul. Why he looked so desperate? And insecure? I don't know but this was what I am seeing to him," he added which also made her think.
"Well, to be honest, he was insecure because he knew that he was nothing compared to you. He really thought that the rumours are true. That I am a gold digger and I have already moved on from him because I have you in my life. Everyone in the campus thought that I cheated on him and I was the one who broke up with him which I couldn't really figure out where these words came from. How could they even know that I am with you always and what worst is that they are all calling me a gold digger," she explained to him.
She didn't know but she couldn't help herself form expressing the disappointment that she was feeling from the incident that happened earlier.
"Well, I am sorry if I have to burst out. I just couldn't really believe him, Drake," she said and she felt her cheeks were getting hot because of embarrassment.
"It's alright. I know exactly what you are feeling but always remember that I am here for you. As much as possible, you have to be with me all the time. We don't know what that man can do to you," Drake said full of concern.
