Chapter 127: Meeting him Again

Amaris POV

I folded my lips, staring at his passport, I still had one and thinking of him wasn't a part of me.

I've tried to love on even though his image keeps bumping in my head.

Here I was, in my room, staring out my window as my mind was blank. I now work somewhere different where I could have my peace of mine.

Somewhere I don't have to sell off my body just to attain success. While lost in thoughts, I heard the doorbell.

I wasn't expecting anyone or perhaps, it's Mia. Speaking of which, I recall her bragging about revealing Caleb's secret to me.

The fact that he deals in all illegal business and have a long arm in the underworld.

That was his past and it just doesn't concern me anymore. Mia wouldn't stop there, she'd still dig more on him.

Lazily, I strolled towards the door to respond. Spurring it open, I found myself in a field of roses.

At first, I thought I was hallucinating but it was true. My facade was decorated with roses like a banquet and I was quite stunned.

Nervously, I stepped, feeling quite heavy and scrolling around. I wasn't expecting such surprise.

Was it Flynn again?

I heaved a sigh as I had told him to give time to focus on myself but he keeps sending gifts to encourage me.

My eyes scrolled around to find a clue on who sent it.

I found it, a letter stucked on one of the bunches of roses.

I was nervous, delaying to pick it and when I did, the write was;

"From your biggest fan"

A scoff escaped my lips as I rolled my eyes. I have no fan and this was new or it could be Flynn's next attempt to make me accept the gifts.

"Wow" I muttered, taking a glimpse of the roses and the gifts it came with.

It was much and so distributing it to the orphanage would do. Besides, it's wrong to reject such expensive treats from a supposed fan.

***

I thought it ends there but everyday, I keep receiving gifts, encouragement that I grew curious to meet this fan someday.

It was ridiculous but then, I never threw them away.

Mia heaved as she slam the bottle of beer in her hand on the table.

She was trying her best to understand the instances here and the mysterious fan.

"How comes he knows so much about you?"

"It's creepy right, sometimes, my bills gets paid and my sassy boss doesn't trouble anymore too" i narrated and we both glimpse at ourselves, trying not to think

it is who was ringing in our mind.

"No, not him" we both chorused and returned our eyes to what we were drinking.

I was taking milkshake for the health of my baby. I'm 3 months in and the joy that comes with it cannot be phantom for.

"Flynn keeps calling though, he says I should tell you but I'm just breaking it to you..."

"He cares" she added and I folded my lips, scrolling my eyes around and then clicking my fingers on the table.

"I know right but I'm just not ready for any relationship especially when he has to do with Caleb.

I gulp down my milkshake and shifted my gaze to her.

"Just figure who this fan is, I'm cringing out, to worsen it, I feel someone is following me" I sparked as goosebumps held me and she scoffed unbelievably.

However, I kept a straight face to let her know I was serious.

When I close late and walk home in the dark alley, I feel a shadow looming over me and when I intend to look around, it vanishes.

"So is he some kind of knight?" She teased trying to tickle me but I growl, just frustrated that I was opening up to her.

"This is serious Mia, work on it and stop fueling my anxiety" i retorts placing a frown on my face.

She threw her hands in the air and then sigh again.

"Just don't get worked up for your child's sake" she encouraged and then hiccups while apologizing.

Seriously?

"I wish I could mia but then, the stress at work is something else and guess what?"

She stop drinking and say properly to face me. She loves all this chat, curious to know about the affairs that goes on in my life.

Her probing eyes made me flinch as her lips thinned and she was blinking at me.

"Can you just not do that?" I requested beckoning on her to stop with the weird look.

"Alright, sorry about that" she plainly affirms and I scoffed because she didn't really change from that look.

"Go on amaris, stop putting me in suspense" she cried opening and closing her mouth.

"Alright, someone is buying the company..." I announced but placed a pause there.

Mia suddenly began to drum her fingers on the table that I was forced to believe she was drunk and didn't really hear me out.

I took another sip of my milkshake again and then resumed to what I needed to break to her.

"And I'm meeting him tonight to finalize the contract!" I sparked feeling exhausted already.

"Wow, finally my girl has been recognized!" She affirms clapping her hands.

That's just the news she wants to hear, that I respect the company someday.

"This calls for a celebration!" She roared waving her hands to my face but I kept a straight face.

"I'm not interested in doing that" I confessed and her merriment died as she placed a cold gaze at me.

A smirk escaped from her lips that she rubbed her ears as though dirt got in them.

It was disheartening for her, she placed her palms on my cheeks and said;

"Girl! What! You're throwing away such opportunity!"

I took her hands off my cheeks and it seems as though she'd fall if I hadn't held her.

Those palms still rested on my cheeks.

"Wake up! You're going for that business proposal!"

***

I didn't know who between us should wake up but she was making a point. I shouldn't just throw the opportunity away.

"Yes boss!" I chorused just so she'd end the lectures on my head.

She nodded and then crash her head on the table. That certainly means she was sleeping.

I smiled at her and mildly stroke her hair. I was nervous though and curious to know who this boss is.

She suddenly jerked up, her head raised like a zombie that I flinched, terrified by her act.

"If you need any help in winning him over, I got the perfect treats and lessons to teach yah" she snapped clapping her hands with drowsy eyes and I knew this

woman needs to go to bed.

***

I couldn't tell how long I had waited to be received by this business partner but I knew I was getting impatient and tired.

It got to an extent I almost wanted to give up waiting because I needed rest.

The fact that I had to make this work pisses me off. However, my thoughts faded when I heard a familiar footsteps behind me, a fragrance that hits my nose

and a cologne that I wouldn't forget easily.

Slowly and feeling drawn, I rolled my eyes to take a glimpse. Those eyes fell on his polished shoes and then lingering upward, it rested on his face.

I gasped when I saw him, it was Caleb, bouncing in with two bouncers. My breath was lost as my eyes followed him until he sat between me.

He kept a serious face, like we never knew each other and I was perlexed.
