Chapter 187: How will it end
Mia's POV
My eyes must have made him confess even though it wasn't what I expected. It was just coincidental that we keep bumping into each other.
I squeezed the shirt my hand, shy to take off my wet gown. Caleb heaved, glanced at me and then looked away.
"Feel free to change"
I took off my gown quickly and abandoned it on the rug, then I got into this oversized shirt.
The length was on thighs. Hastily, I dumped my wet gown in the polythene bag and then adjusted myself on the seat.
"You can drive" I muttered and he returned his gaze to the rear mirror.
There was silence between us and I was just staring through the window, my eyes pinned on every little thing until I fell asleep.
I couldn't tell how long I was asleep but when I woke up, I realized the car has stopped moving, the rain had subsided and the warmth in this place basked me.
Caleb was still inside too, his eyes staring at me like a hawk. I could tell he watched over me and didn't wake me up until I did myself.
I peeped through the windscreen and realized I was at amaris house, he had drove me here.
"We are here" he said in a low tone and then took out an umbrella from his back seat.
It seems the back seat really has a lot stock in it. I said nothing took the umbrella and almost dashed out when he handed me a package bag which I took.
"Goodnight Mia and don't miss my calls or I'd stalk you" he whispers. There was no sound from me expect slamming the door at his face.
I used the umbrella as a shield and then ran to the porch of the house. He wouldn't leave until he sees I have gone in.
I ran the doorbell, hoping the door opens but my eyes were on the Caleb's car, I could see him clearly because he had turned on the lights inside the car.
There was no one responding and I didn't want to go back to him. Caleb's eyes narrows at me as I stood on one foot, perturbed.
Then I saw Caleb opening his car. Damn it, he'd carry me away. While I was panicking, the door opened and I ran inside with a heavy heart.
I closed the door and slammed my back on it while trying to regain my breath.
However, I paused when amaris was right in front of me with burning eyes.
"Tell me it's not true" she began and I bite my lower lip.
"Uhmm, it's not true, what you saw was an illusion..."
"Shut up Mia, was that Caleb?" She barked and I beckoned on her to lower her tone.
"I was over there to confirm and I think he is the one but has lost his memory"
"Fuck!" She screamed raking her hair and glaring at me. For s moment, I felt she'd burn me and I couldn't breath either.
"I never meant for you guys to meet this way..."
"I hate you Mia, you knew Caleb was alive, who knows if all this was your doing and you wanted Caleb for yourself" she cuts in and I was mad with her assertion.
"What? I would never, you know I hate him"
"No you don't and you're proving that right now, you just have a thing with men relating to me" she bragged again and this time, I couldn't take it.
"Shut up amaris, you're insane, you're always the problem, quick to judge as though everyone wants to take everything from you!" I retort, my chest rising and falling, my eyes glared at her too.
She scoffed unbelievably at me and then licked her lips.
"Do you expect me to be still after seeing a ghost and who knows if you haven't fucked him? I hate you Mia!"
I grew furious and couldn't control my hand, it just landed on her left cheek and she flung her face aside.
I widened my eyes unable to digest the scenario before me.
However, I wasn't sorry for that because she keeps hurting me with her words.
She angrily grabbed my hair pulling me back and forth while roaring.
"How dare you huh! You hide such big secret and stole him from me!"
"Believe it or not, you have a problem amaris...fix it!" I barked back while jerking her hair but then we stopped when we heard footsteps.
"Mom, mia, what's all the noise about?" Aaron questioned and we both faked a smile.
"Go in and lay down, i'd join you in a minute" amaris responded waving to him but he blew a raspberry, looking as though he was tired and sleepy.
"Mia can you read me bedtime stories, I can't sleep" he requested and my smile broadens while I straighten my hair.
Amaris was staring at me in anger, definitely not to say a word, I hope she realizes I'm not sabotaging our friendship because of a silly mistake.
"She's heading out and that means I have to be the one telling you the story" amaris cuts and I eyed her.
"Don't tell me you're locking me out"
"Yes I am"
"Are you leaving again Mia?" Aaron's voice came in and I shook my head.
"No dear, I'm here for you" I assured and then walked pass amaris to get to him.
He was excited as I tickled him and then walked to his room. I didn't look at amaris until we were out of sight.
Once we got to his room, I directed him to the bed and sat beside him to tell him the tale he deserves to here.
However, this kid had something else in mind.
"Mom was mad today and she kept throwing things and ignoring me"
"It's mood swings, she'd calm down later"
"She keeps saying" he paused and swallowed. "Caleb, you're not real, it's not true, you're alive! How?"
I thinned my lips and then held his palms, my eyes gazed at him as I smiled.
"Mom just misses someone she lost, it's okay, she'd get over it" I responded and then he squeezed his lips.
"So he is Caleb? The person she needs to get over" he repeated and I nodded while ticking to lay on the bed.
"I overheard her call that handsome man behind you Caleb" he pressed and crossed his palms on his chest while his eyes glisten at me.
"Now let me tell you a tale sweatheart." I affirmed and he brightens his face a bit.
"What's it all about this time" he pressed on kicking his legs on the bed and giggling.
"Uhmm, about two friends and how they broke apart.
One thing I was sure is that amaris and I are falling apart.
